UN Official Visits Wahdat Camp, Affirms Support for Palestinian Refugees - Jordan News
United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed on Wednesday visited Wahdat Camp to assess the conditions of Palestinian refugees and the services provided to them by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). اضافة اعلان During the visit, Director General of the Department of Palestinian Affairs, Rafiq Khirfan, underscored that UNRWA's continued presence and operation are essential to ensuring regional stability, noting that any reduction or disruption in its services would severely affect the social, economic, and environmental well-being of Palestinian refugees, not only in Jordan but across the region. Khirfan highlighted that Jordan, under the direct leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, continues to extend all possible forms of support to Palestinian refugees. He stressed that the Kingdom carries a significant responsibility on behalf of the international community and remains committed to safeguarding refugees' rights until a just solution is achieved in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions. The Deputy Secretary-General's visit included stops at an UNRWA-operated health center and school, as well as a visit to a refugee family residing in the camp. These visits aimed to provide firsthand insight into the challenges UNRWA faces in sustaining its services and the extent to which Palestinian refugees depend on them in their daily lives. The visit comes as part of the United Nations' broader commitment to supporting UNRWA and expressing solidarity with Palestinian refugees amid ongoing financial challenges threatening the agency's operations.

Norwegian Foreign Minister visits Al Hussein Camp
Ammon News - Director General of the Department of Palestinian Affairs, Rafiq Khirfan, received Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide during an official visit to Al Hussein refugee camp on Wednesday to assess the living conditions of Palestinian refugees and the challenges they continue to face. The visit was also attended by UNRWA Deputy Commissioner-General Antonia Marie De Meo, Norwegian Ambassador to Jordan Mona Juul, and Director of UNRWA Affairs in Jordan Olaf Becker. The delegation toured the camp and reviewed the services provided by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in coordination with the Jordanian government. DPA, UNRWA discuss financial crisis, infrastructure projects
AMMAN — Director General of the Department of Palestinian Affairs (DPA) Rafiq Khirfan, and UNRWA Director of Affairs Olaf Becker discussed on Sunday several issues related to the agency's operations, most notably its current financial crisis and the resulting challenges. The two officials discussed the infrastructure projects being implemented by UNRWA in the refugee camps, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. They emphasised the importance of strengthening coordination and joint planning to ensure the efficient implementation of the projects, which has a direct impact on improving the living conditions of refugees. The meeting was attended by UNRWA Deputy Directors Kunal Dhar and Butros Janho. Khirfan and Becker also discussed the issue of sanitation in the camps, particularly in Baqaa regugee Camp, and stressed the need for cooperation among all relevant parties to address these challenges and to work towards sustainable and effective solutions.
