Handover of Maoist leader's body: Pleas filed for compliance to Andhra Pradesh HC order
SRIKAKULAM: Even six days after a major encounter in the Abujhmad forest region of Chhattisgarh, authorities have yet to hand over the bodies of slain Maoists to their families.
While Nambala Keshava Rao's younger brother Ram Prasad is in Narayanapur, working to secure the body, unconfirmed reports circulated on social media claiming the cremation of the slain Maoist leader and Sajja Nageswara Rao's bodies by the Chhattisgarh police.
Speaking to TNIE, Ram Prasad and his advocates representing in the AP High Court have refuted these claims. They confirmed filing writ and contempt petitions in the High Court demanding implementation of its earlier orders for the body release. Notices have been served to the Chief Secretary, DGP, and Bastar Range IG of Chhattisgarh. The petitions will be heard on Thursday.
Srikakulam SP KV Maheswara Reddy confirmed to TNIE that he has yet to receive official information about the cremation. Meanwhile, agitation demanding the release of Maoist leader Nambala Keshava Rao's body intensified on Monday.

He claimed that believing in any ideology is not a crime as per the Supreme Court directive and killing them until they indulge in any illegal activity is a gross violation of the Apex Court's order. He claimed that state govt is also trying to override the gram sabhas in the state to serve the interest of the corporate groups. He stated, "The convention aims to determine the country-wide agitation for tribal rights. CPI ML would convert all agitations conducted by the tribal societies into a joint agitation." Leaders from around a dozen states including Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, Karnataka, Chhatisgarh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Assam attended the meeting.

No link found between explosives godown owner & Maoists: Cops
Rourkela: Raghunathpalli police have not found any link of arrested explosives godown owner Shravan Agrawal with Maoists after interrogating him for the past two days. After verifying his business transactions and interrogating Agrawal, police have found that he was supplying explosives without proper documentation and tax invoices and without following standard operating procedures. In 2014 and 2015, he obtained licences for two more godowns in the name of his wife, Nikita. Agrawal was also interrogated by Rourkela SP Nitesh Wadhwani and the special investigation team (SIT) headed by additional SP H K Majhi. "Accused Agrawal, who was brought on remand for two days, was questioned and sent to jail on Saturday. Our investigation is in progress." said R Swain, inspector in-charge, Raghunathpalli police station Agrawal and his driver, Birsa Samad alias Ishak, were arrested on Tuesday by Raghunathpalli police for allegedly violating SOPs related to explosives. Sources said police suspect some villagers might have given information to Maoists about the arrival of the explosives-laden truck on May 27.

‘My son will not come back': Father of Bengaluru stampede victim says compensation will go to wife, daughter
Devraj, the father of one of the deceased in the Bengaluru stampede on June 4, said on Sunday that he would use the compensation announced by the state government for her wife and daughter. He said the cheque of ₹25 lakh given to him won't bring his son back, who died in the stampede that broke out during a victory parade of the IPL-winning team RCB in Bengaluru on June 4. "I have been given a cheque of ₹25 lakhs, but my son will not come back. I will not use this money for my benefit... I will put it in the account of my daughter and her mother and keep the money for her future..." Devraj said.
