Hindustan Times6 hours ago
A Bengaluru-based innovator has caught the internet's attention with a creation that combines tradition with technology - a robot named 'Thindy', that can make dosas all on its own. The robot, made by a Bengaluru engineer, could spread batter on a hot pan and make a crispy golden brown dosa.(Screengrab)

Designed as a personal project, Thindy has been developed over the past few months by a city-based engineer, who recently shared a video of the robot in action on YouTube, as well as Reddit. In the video, Thindy is seen expertly pouring dosa batter over a heated pan, spreading it with precision, and cooking the beloved South Indian staple to golden-brown perfection.

'Hi everyone, I've been working on a personal project for the last few months here in Bengaluru - a robot named Thindy that can make dosas automatically," the creator wrote in a post introducing Thindy on social media.
'It pours the batter, spreads it evenly, and cooks it just right. The idea came from watching my family cook and thinking - what if a robot could do this while we relax?' the user shared.

'I'd love to hear your thoughts - what features would you like in a cooking robot? And yes, it can make crispy dosas! (Not a commercial post – just sharing my build and story with fellow Bangaloreans!)' he added.
The post gained a lot of traction, with many appreciating the work it took to make the robot. Many chimed in with feature suggestions: from customizing the dosa's thickness and shape to making other dishes like Biriyani and set dosa.
"Customer: please don't add too much oil. Manager: feature is in development. The feature will be available on next release," a quirky comment stated.

Demand for 5G spectrum among private enterprises weak: DoT survey

The direct allocation of spectrum for private 5G networks faces a lukewarm response. The Department of Telecommunications conducted a demand study. It attracted few applications with incomplete details. Telecom service providers oppose direct allocation. They suggest using telco-allocated airwaves. The Broadband India Forum questions the need for another study. They cite previous interest from companies like Infosys and Tata. Tired of too many ads? Remove Ads Tired of too many ads? Remove Ads Tired of too many ads? Remove Ads The government's renewed push to allocate spectrum directly for private 5G networks has turned out to be a damp squib with just a few enterprises showing interest, people aware of the details told ET.A demand study conducted by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to understand the spectrum requirement for direct allocation attracted only a few applications, including incomplete ones that didn't have the requisite details, they said."We will study and take a call around direct allocation of spectrum for captive private networks," an official said on condition of anonymity. Telecom service providers have been opposing the move to give spectrum directly to enterprises, arguing that such private networks can be rolled out through airwaves allocated to technology industry, on its part, is questioning the need for a fresh demand study as one such study was done a couple of years ago."Another demand study for private 5G seems a pointless exercise, serving only to further delay the introduction of a product globally proven with thousands of CNPN ( captive non-public networks ) and India trailing by three years," Broadband India Forum (BIF) president TV Ramachandran told ET."India needs CNPN for Industry 4.0, digitalisation and improved global competitiveness in many sectors," he previous demand study drew applications from over 20 players including Infosys Tata Power , GMR, and Larsen & Toubro, but nothing much happened after time, however, there was no such interest from these DoT in June 2022 had notified guidelines for establishment of CNPNs or private networks. These guidelines allow enterprises to set up their own captive private 4G or 5G networks by either utilising spectrum from telcos or direct assignment from the DoT felt there was a need for another demand study as certain spectrum bands that were initially identified for direct assignment to private networks lack device ecosystem."During a recent analysis, it was observed that the device ecosystem for CNPN is mostly available in IMT bands and 5G technology has also considerably advanced with different use cases," DoT said while seeking applications for the demand study. "Also, system integrators are keenly interested in establishing CNPN-based networks," it BIF felt demand for such a private network, for example, at Maruti , can only be singular because of relevance only to Maruti for internal efficiency improvements and a captive network with no services to the public and revenue therefrom."Hence, no need for demand study, or onerous license. Spectrum should be given directly to enterprises at cost to just cover the cost of administration and regulation and no further delay to boost the economy," Ramachandran private networks, corporate houses can set up their own Wi-Fi and data networks instead of taking the services from a telecom service provider as is the norm telcos, however, feel direct spectrum allocation to enterprises is not tenable because of various reasons pertaining to the country's telecom ecosystem, national revenue, and security architecture.

Priyanka Chopra appears almost unrecognisable in no-makeup selfie with fan at Hyderabad airport, fans defend her against trolls

Global star Priyanka Chopra 's candid selfie at Hyderabad airport is making waves on social media, but for the wrong reasons. The actress appeared almost unrecognisable in the photo, sparking chatter online. While some trolled her, many fans defended her, calling out the unrealistic beauty standards placed on celebrities. Wearing an all-black ensemble with a cap, Priyanka posed for a quick selfie with a fan while entering the airport. The casual click, far from her usual red-carpet glam, immediately caught attention online, with many pointing out how different she looked. Fans clap back at trolls Once the picture began circulating, critical comments emerged, but loyal fans were quick to defend her. One Reddit user wrote, 'No wonder celebrities get irritated when fans click selfies without consent or try to avoid them altogether—then everyone labels them arrogant or snobbish. God forbid a celebrity is humble and suddenly everyone's mocking her.' Another added, 'It's just the angle and she's been traveling. Do people expect her to be in full glam?' Some fans also highlighted lighting and camera factors. 'I think it's because of the cap shadow also, and if you see clearly she is a little blur as well compared to the guy. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Original Adidas Three Combo Track-Pants With Up To 60% Off Adidas India Shop Now Undo Let's be human, guys,' wrote one. Several videos and photos of the mother-daughter duo from the airport surfaced online. In one clip, Priyanka is seen speaking to her team while pushing a trolley with a baby carrier where Malti sat. A staff member accidentally hit Malti's head with a backpack, prompting Priyanka to quickly shield her daughter and address the situation. Malti, however, appeared cheerful, holding onto a bag, looking around, and smiling as they made their way to the terminal. Priyanka was dressed head-to-toe in black, while Malti wore a blue top, white tights, and matching shoes. The actress has been travelling frequently between Hyderabad and California in recent months. She is currently working on SS Rajamouli's upcoming big-budget sci-fi drama Globe Trotter (formerly SSMB29), starring Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran in lead roles.
