Kuberaa: Dhanush claims he ‘trusted name and reputation' of Sekhar Kammula only to beg in streets of Tirupati

Dhanush 's look as a beggar for Sekhar Kammula's upcoming film Kuberaa has become the talk of the town in no time. The actor has been noted for his raw and gripping screen presence, as evident in the film's trailer. He would be sharing the frame with Nagarjuna Akkineni and Rashmika Mandanna in key roles. And now the Tamil actor has opened up on how realistically he was made to shoot for the movie, which also required him to beg on the streets of Tirupati. Dhanush discusses shooting as Deva in Kuberaa Dhanush appears to have perfected his versatility, as he will be playing the role of a beggar in Sekhar Kammula's upcoming film, Kuberaa. At the pre-release event for the film, the actor recalled agreeing to the movie's script almost immediately after hearing it during a 20-minute session. However, he was surprised when the filmmaker actually made him sit and beg on the streets of Tirupati for his role. Dhanush said, 'Director Sekhar Kammula told me the story in just 20 minutes. I agreed immediately, trusting his name and reputation. But in the end, he made me beg on the streets of Tirupati.' Bollywood hairstylists arm-twist producers to increase entourage costs by 3 times: Aalim Hakim asks, ‘How are you contributing…'

Aalim Hakim is a seasoned celebrity hairstylist best known for designing hairstyles of film stars like Rajinikanth and Salman Khan and cricketers like Virat Kohli. He also designs looks for actors in films, the most recent instances being Ranbir Kapoor in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 2023 blockbuster family crime drama Animal and Vicky Kaushal in Laxman Utekar's blockbuster period action drama Chaava this year. Hakim has claimed that unlike him, several hairdressers try to take advantage of their actors delivering hits by arm-twisting the production houses to spike their fees. 'A hairstylist sometimes feels an actor won't work well without them. They arm-twist the production house to increase their fees by three times. That's dishonesty, that's unethical,' said Hakim. In the interview to Hindi Rush, he added, 'This soils the reputation of the actor and of other technicians. I always advise them to be professional and maintain their fees.' Hakim argued that a hairstylist's fees should remain constant despite the market value of the actor they're working with. 'What does a technician have to do with a film becoming a superhit? They've just cut the actor's hair. The actor has given a good performance, the director has made a good film, which is why the film becomes a hit. Their actor scoring a Rs 500 crore film shouldn't increase the hairstylist's fees just because the actor has become comfortable with them,' said Hakim. He advised other hairstylists to be production-friendly as the hike in fees they often demand for themselves can instead be used to make a whole new film. 'If I charge Rs 1 lakh for a haircut, that's my fees. It's not like I charge someone Rs 1 lakh and someone else Rs 2 lakh or Rs 5 lakh,' argued Hakim, adding, 'A production house is prepared, they know how much they'd spend if they call me. It doesn't depend on whether my last film was a hit or not.' Hakim claimed that friendship, respect, and value are more important to him than money. 'If you arm-twist someone, they'd work with you once, but not again. They wouldn't respect you. If a lot of them don't work with you because you're greedy and a liar, then you'd be out of the industry,' said Hakim. He clarified that his fees of Rs 1 lakh per haircut remains the same for celebrities and commoners. 'No one is a celebrity or a commoner to me. They're all my clients irrespective of their stature,' said Hakim. He admitted he's not charged some friends for his work, but not when he's working professionally for friends who are producers and are earning money from their projects. 'Whether I charge Rs 5 or Rs 5 lakh for a haircut, I'd cut the hair in the same way. If you ask Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan or Naseeruddin Shah to do acting worth Rs 5, they'd do the same acting. What's a Rs 5 acting? Art doesn't function like that. I just spend some water in my spray, which doesn't have a cost. It's the art that's priceless,' argued Hakim. But I believe in repeat value. I want to work everyday and for everyone,' said Hakim, adding, 'Technically, Rs 1 lakh is quite affordable for everyone otherwise why would they be spending it on me so far?'

Shah Rukh Khan surprises ‘Sitaare Zameen Par' cast on set: ‘Aamir called me at least 10 times'

Bollywood got a dose of pure star power when Shah Rukh Khan made an unexpected visit to the set of Sitaare Zameen Par, the upcoming film marking Aamir Khan's return to the big screen after three years. In a behind-the-scenes video released Thursday, SRK is seen warmly interacting with the film's cast and crew, and sharing a glimpse into his long-standing friendship with Aamir. 'Aamir has told me at least 10 times. He said, 'Come and meet the actors. They are doing so well,'' Shah Rukh revealed in the video. 'Even 3 days ago, he told me, 'Shah, tu ana yaar! (Shah, come over bud!)'' The visit clearly lifted spirits on set, with the young cast visibly thrilled. Shah Rukh took time to speak with each of the ten debut actors in the film, all of whom play players with special needs. As they gushed over their favorite SRK films, he struck his signature arms-stretched pose and posed for a group photo. Directed by RS Prasanna, and touted as a spiritual sequel to Aamir's 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par, Sitaare Zameen Par is a remake of the Spanish hit Campeones. It stars Aamir Khan as a basketball coach training a team of athletes with intellectual disabilities. Genelia D'Souza plays a key role alongside him. The new actors — Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar — are supposed to be at the core of the story. Sitaare Zameen Par is set to release in theatres on June 20.
