Public transport employees' union demands recruitment of staff, new buses
Speaking at a dharna organised at Pandit Nehru Bus Station in Vijayawada as part of a State-wide protest, the Union's State president P. Damodar Rao raised concern over the 'inordinate delay' in implementing promotions of the employees. He said 3,000 RTC employees were eagerly waiting for promotions for the last six years and urged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to approve the same.
He also urged the government to appoint 12th Pay Revision Commission and announce Interim Relief for the employees.
The Union's zonal secretary Y. Srinivasa Rao said that the electric buses proposed to be procured by the government should be operated by the AP PTD staff. He also asked the government to release the pending 24 months arrears under the 11th PRC and arrears of DA.
The Union's State secretary T.V. Bhavani demanded immediate payment of gratuity and leave encashment for the retired and deceased employees of the department and also revival of the medical facilities through referral hospitals, as was provided prior to the merger of the APSRTC with the government.
The Union's State secretary and State Maintenance Committee convener N.C.H. Chakravarthi, organising secretary S.K. Mohiddin, NTR district secretary Sagar, Vijayawada depot secretary Radhakrishna and others participated.

Union minister Chouhan uses convoy vehicle to rush accident victim to hospital
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday stopped his convoy in Bhopal to assist a youth injured in a road accident and ensured he was rushed to the hospital. Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan also spoke to the hospital's doctor over the phone. (ANI) According to an official statement, the former Madhya Pradesh chief minister was en route to attend a Jain community event in Awadhpuri area when he noticed a crowd gathered near Chetak Bridge. "On inquiring, he learnt that a youth had been injured in a road mishap and was lying unattended. He quickly arranged for one of the vehicles in his convoy to rush the injured to a nearby hospital and deputed an official from his team to accompany the injured person," the statement said. Chouhan also spoke to the hospital's doctor over the phone and asked him to give urgent medical attention to the injured person, it added.

Gadkari to inaugurate Sigandur bridge today
Shivamogga: Union minister Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate South India's second-largest cable-stayed bridge in Sigandur, built across the Sharavathi River in Sagara taluk on Monday. The bridge is also called the Ambaragodlu-Kalasavalli bridge. The preparations for the event have been finalised. Gadkari, accompanied by Union minister Pralhad Joshi, will commence the tour by inaugurating a Rs 473 crore cable-stayed bridge spanning the Sharavathi backwaters at Kalasavalli around 2 pm. The bridge will improve accessibility for residents and visitors. State public works minister Satish Jarkiholi has confirmed his participation. Following the inauguration, Gadkari will speak at a public gathering at Nehru Maidan in Sagara. On July 14, Gadkari will visit Sagara taluk in Shivamogga to launch various development projects valued at Rs 2,056 crore across different districts. A significant project includes the National Highway-369E development from Sagara to Marakutika, costing Rs 625 crore, which will incorporate this bridge to enhance regional connectivity.

Min announces reconstruction of Rajgarh Road
1 2 3 4 5 6 Dibrugarh: Union minister of state for external affairs Pabitra Margherita laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction of the dilapidated Rajgarh road from Garhmur Chariali to Lakwa on Sunday. The 11.6 km stretch, which has been in poor condition for years, will be rebuilt at a cost of Rs 3.9 crore under the State-Owned Priority Development Scheme (SOPD-G) for the fiscal year 2025-26. The ceremony was attended by State Transport and Hills Area Development Minister Jogen Mohan and Demow MLA Sushanta Borgohain, among others. The project aims to transform the crucial road link, benefiting thousands of residents in Demow and Sonari assembly constituencies. Margherita emphasised the road's importance for local communities. "Once completed, this road will improve connectivity and ease transportation challenges. It will enhance accessibility, boost economic activities, and ease daily commute," he said. The Rajgarh road has been a major concern for locals, with its pothole-ridden surface causing frequent accidents and delays. Farmers, students, and daily commuters have long demanded repairs, citing hardships in transporting goods and traveling to nearby areas. State transport minister Jogen Mohan said the project would be completed efficiently. "Govt is committed to improving infrastructure in rural Assam. This road reconstruction is a priority, and we will ensure timely completion to minimise public inconvenience," he added. Demow MLA Sushanta Borgohain expressed gratitude for the initiative, calling it a "long-awaited relief" for his constituents. "This road is a lifeline for many villages. Its reconstruction will not only ease travel but also open up new opportunities for local businesses and farmers," he said. The project is expected to be completed within the current fiscal year, bringing much-needed respite to the people.
