TTD to observe ‘Anivara Asthanam' tomorrow
Unlike many of the more visibly grand religious celebrations in Tirumala, Anivara Asthanam unfolds within the sanctum sanctorum with solemnity and spiritual purpose. It is during this internal ritual that the TTD's principal officers submit the previous year's financial accounts before the deity, seeking divine approval to continue in their respective roles. The ritual reflects the Agamic concept of 'Asthanam,' or divine court, underscoring the Lord's authority in temple administration.
Historically, this ritual originated during the period when Mahants oversaw the temple's management. It was then held on the final day of the Tamil month of Ani — hence the name 'Anivara Asthanam' — signalling the start of financial preparations for the coming year.
On the day, new account ledgers are ceremonially introduced, and key administrative symbols, including the sacred coffer key-bunch known as 'Lachana,' are placed at the feet of the presiding deity. The Jeeyangar Swamijis will present new garments to the Moolavirat and to the utsava murtis of Lord Malayappa Swamy, Sridevi, and Bhudevi, who are placed on Sarvabhoopala Vahanam within the sanctum, accompanied by Viswaksena. A special ritual known as 'Rupayi Harati' follows, wherein temple staff involved in the proceedings each offer a rupee as symbolic submission, and the total offerings are then tallied in the presence of the TTD Executive Officer. As part of the festival arrangements, Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam, the traditional purification of the sanctum and temple surroundings, will be carried out on July 15 from 6 am, using herbal ingredients called 'Parimalam'. Due to this, devotees will be allowed for darshan after 12 noon on July 15. Also, VIP Break Darshan and select Arjitha Sevas stand cancelled.
In the evening on July 16. Pushpa Pallaki procession will be conducted, adding a visual flourish to the otherwise administrative and spiritually symbolic observance.

The historians consider the Chola period to be among the golden eras of India, an era distinguished by its military strength, the PM said. The Chola Empire advanced India's democratic traditions, often overlooked in global narratives. While historians speak of Britain's Magna Carta in the context of democracy, the Chola empire had implemented democratic election practices centuries earlier through the Kudavolai system. He said global discourse often centers around water management and ecology preservation, emphasising that India's ancestors understood the importance of these issues long ago. He cited that while many kings are remembered for acquiring gold, silver, or livestock from other regions, Rajendra Chola is recognised for bringing sacred Ganga water. The prime minister recalled that Rajendra Chola transported Ganga water from North India and established it in the South. He referred to the phrase "Ganga Jalamayam Jayastambham", explaining that the water was channeled into the Chola Ganga lake, now known as the Ponneri lake. Rajendra Chola established the Gangaikonda Cholapuram temple, which continues to be recognised globally as an architectural wonder. The PM remarked that the celebration of Ganga on the land of Mother Kaveri is also a legacy of the Chola Empire. In memory of this historic episode, the prime minister said Ganga water has once again been brought from Kashi to Tamil Nadu, noting that a formal ritual was conducted at the site. As the elected representative from Kashi, the PM shared his deep emotional connection with Mother Ganga. India should take a cue from Vietnam, Japan and insist written statement before announcing US trade deal: GTRI
New Delhi [India], July 27 (ANI): Referring to purported differences in understanding of US trade agreements and their clauses with Vietnam and Japan, think tank Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI) suggested that India tread carefully as it negotiates its trade agreement with the US. GTRI, in a report released on Sunday, called for India to take a cue from the experiences of countries like Vietnam and Japan and insisted that India should ask for a jointly issued, written statement before acknowledging any agreement. There appears to be a contradiction in the understanding of the recently agreed-upon trade deals between the US and Vietnam, as well as the US and Japan. Citing a Japanese government document released on July 25, GTRI asserted that it revealed significant discrepancies between Japan's understanding of a new trade deal with the US and how President Donald Trump had portrayed it. "To avoid similar misrepresentation, India must insist on a jointly issued, written statement before acknowledging any agreement," GTRI suggested. Trump claimed on July 22 that the agreement secures massive Japanese investments, strong tariff protections, and guaranteed access for U.S. farm exports, including rice. However, Japan's official summary, published by its Cabinet Secretariat, describes a far more limited framework--still under negotiation and lacking binding commitments, according to GTRI analysis. Trump stated that Japan would invest USD 550 billion in the U.S., with 90 per cent of the profits remaining in America. But Japan's version tells a different story. It says the USD 550 billion includes a mix of equity, loans, and guarantees from state-backed institutions, not a lump-sum investment. Trump announced that Japan would significantly open its markets to US agricultural exports, including rice. However, according to a Japanese government document cited by GTRI, this limitation is restricted to procurement under its existing Minimum Access (MA) scheme, and only applies "depending on domestic demand and supply conditions." In effect, Japan reserves the right not to import US rice if there is no market need. Another area of divergence is found in automotive exports, as noted by GTRI. Trump claimed Japan would remove additional safety testing for US-made vehicles. Japan's document, according to GTRI, confirms that it will allow imports of American cars without additional testing, provided they meet Japanese road safety standards. "In other words, this is not a blanket exemption; US manufacturers must still comply with Japanese technical norms," GTRI inferred. (ANI)

Teach Telugu in Singapore schools, says Andhra Pradesh CM Naidu
Singapore, Jul 27 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday called for Telugu to be taught as second language in Singapore schools and inaugurated a CXO Club, to leverage the expertise of Telugu-origin chief executives of multinational corporations across the world. Naidu, who reached here earlier in the day, is on a five-day official visit to attract investments and strengthen diaspora ties in this prosperous city-state. Singapore has some 40,000 people of Telugu-origin, according to a community leader. Naidu was addressing some 2,000 diaspora members at the One World International School Digital Campus here, when he called for Telugu to be taught in Singapore schools. In addition to Tamil being one of the four official languages in Singapore (the three being Malay, English, and Mandarin), Hindi and Punjabi are among the languages taught in Singapore schools as mother tongue-languages. 'In his speech, Chief Minister Naidu called for Telugu to be taught in Singapore schools. He told me to take up with the Singapore government the issue of Telugu as a second language," Indian High Commissioner Dr Shilpak Ambule told PTI. During Naidu's interaction with people of Telugu-origin and other Indian communities, was also announced a plan to launch of Global Export-Import cell on his return to Andhra Pradesh in all-out efforts to promote entrepreneurship among some 30 lakhs Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugus living across 128 countries, a handout said here. Telugu NRIs remit some Rs 30,000 crore annually to the state, which he said he hopes to see increasing in the coming years. Naidu also shared about his P4 programme which is a 'public private people partnerships' which will have affluent individuals mentoring underprivileged members of the society to improve everybody's living standard, it said. Those who attended the event included Telugu entrepreneurs, company representatives, investors, and professionals from different countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand.
