Madhya Pradesh Lawyer Fakes Disappearance To Avoid Family Pressure For Marriage, Found In UP
A lawyer from Madhya Pradesh aspiring to become a civil judge, mysteriously went missing, prompting an intense search effort by the police. However, in a strange turn of events, it turned out that she had faked her own disappearance as part of a meticulous plan to evade her family.
Archana Tiwari was 'under intense pressure from her family to abandon her studies and marry a Patwari", according to Railway Superintendent of Police Rahul Kumar Lodha. Amid mounting proposals and emotional strain, she confided in her friend, Saransh, and they hatched a plan to 'disappear'.
Their plan reportedly involved an 'accident' on the Narmada Express, where Archana's legal acumen came in handy. 'She deliberately left her bag on the train to simulate a fall, switched coaches at Narmadapuram — where CCTV coverage was absent — and instructed Tejinder, another accomplice, to dispose of her mobile phone in the forests of Bagratawa near Itarsi," the officer told IANS.
However, Tejinder, a driver, was later arrested by the Delhi Police in a separate fraud case during the period, which made it difficult for the police to advance the investigation into Archana's 'investigation".
The duo bypassed toll booths and purchased a new mobile mid-journey to avoid detection. Archana also used WhatsApp calls to obscure her trail. As media coverage over her disappearance intensified, Archana and Saransh moved to Hyderabad, then travelled to Kathmandu, Nepal, via Jodhpur and Delhi.
She de-boarded at Itarsi railway station and then went to Shujalpur in Shajapur district and lived there for two days. After that, she moved to Hyderabad and then to Jodhpur. Further, she reached New Delhi and then went to Nepal.
Archana's bag, which contained Raksha Bandhan gifts, was found at the Umaria station, drawing widespread attention. Her last known communication was a call to her aunt on August 7, after which her phone went silent.
How Did Police Locate Her?
Saransh later returned to Indore and was detained by the police. Police then tracked Archana's movements using mobile data and witness accounts, eventually locating her in Lakhimpur Kheri in UP. Officers persuaded her to come to the India-Nepal border, where she was apprehended and flown back to Bhopal on Wednesday.
'Archana Tiwari made this plan to avoid her marriage. She assumed that if she remained missing for a few days, her family would stop talking about her marriage, and then she would be back to her life again. However, extensive media coverage made her talk to her family and disclose her current location," Lodha informed.
Babita Kataria, a woman police officer who recovered Archana Tiwari at the India-Nepal border (Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh), said that she was alone in Nepal. Archana has been handed over to her family.
Meanwhile, investigators discovered Archana had been in contact with Ram Tomar, a constable posted at Gwalior's Bhanwarpura police station. He had booked a bus ticket for her from Indore to Gwalior, though she never used it. The constable was detained on August 18 and was under interrogation.

'Sought Help On Stray Dogs Issue, Rekha Gupta Ignored': Attacker To Cops
New Delhi: Rajesh Sakariya, arrested for attacking Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during a public hearing yesterday, has told the police that he attacked the Chief Minister after she allegedly ignored his appeals against removing stray dogs from the national capital. Sources in the Delhi Police have said 41-year-old Sakariya, originally from Gujarat's Rajkot, has made bizarre claims about what brought him to the capital and why he attacked the Chief Minister. Sakariya has said he is a devotee of Lord Shiva, and he asked him to travel to Ujjain, and then to Delhi to seek the Chief Minister's help regarding the Supreme Court ruling to round up stray dogs in Delhi-NCR and shift them to shelters away from residential areas. The Chief Minister had earlier said that stray dog attacks have been troubling Delhi residents for quite some time now. "This problem has taken a formidable form and is now standing before Delhi, and providing a solution is very important. We will prepare a proper plan on this issue," the Chief Minister had said after the top court order. He has also told the police that he travelled to Delhi ticketless on a train. On reaching the capital, Sakariya asked people where the Chief Minister stayed. He took the Metro, but got off at the wrong station and then took a cycle rickshaw ride to reach the Chief Minister's residence in Shalimar Bagh. Sakariya has also told police that he planned to return to Gujarat last night after making the appeal to the Chief Minister. Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra has trashed the divine intervention theory and pointed to the accused's criminal past. "We need to talk about facts. The man has a criminal record. The way he conducted a recce before the attack shows he is a professional criminal. Random theories are being pushed to divert attention from the facts," he told the media. Sakariya has multiple cases against him, most of them related to the smuggling of liquor in dry Gujarat. He has been acquitted in several of these cases, while remain pending. Among the sections invoked against him is the one related to causing hurt. Mr Mishra said the Chief Minister has continued to work despite the shocking attack. "Right now, she needs rest and recovery as the physical injuries are serious, and the mental impact is also there. This was not an ordinary incident; it was a very unusual one. Still, the Chief Minister continues to work," he said. The Chief Minister suffered injuries after Sakariya allegedly slapped her, pushed her and pulled her hair during a 'Jan Sunwai' meeting. Sakariya has been charged with attempted murder, among other sections relating to obstructing a public servant during duty.

New Security Measures For Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta After Attack
In the wake of an attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during a Jan Sunwai at her camp office in Civil Lines on Wednesday, the Delhi Police has decided to make significant changes to her security protocol. The man - identified as Sakaria Rajeshbhai Khimjibhai, originally from Gujarat's Rajkot, had attacked the Chief Minister while meeting her in the guise of a petitioner. He slapped and pushed her and then pulled her hair before being overpowered by her securitymen. Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnels are now being deployed at Rekha Gupta's residence. According to the sources, the security around the Chief Minister will also be now significantly tightened during public hearings. Now, no individual will be allowed to approach the Chief Minister directly. All complaints submitted during such events will be subject to prior verification before being taken up. Notably, Rekha Gupta already has Z-plus security. Meanwhile, as part of the investigation, Delhi Police may take Rajesh Khimji to Rajkot during his five-day remand to gather more information and possibly recreate the crime scene at the Chief Minister's residence. Investigators are also expected to examine whether the accused met anyone in Delhi prior to the attack and whom he may have spoken to. His mobile phone has been sent for forensic examination. The sources said that the Delhi Police will investigate to uncover any larger conspiracy behind the attack. The Delhi Police had confirmed that Rajesh Khimji had been booked for attempted murder under Section 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police described him as a "serial offender" with a string of past cases in Gujarat, many of which ended in acquittal.

Health Ministry Official Duped Of Rs 27 Lakh In Currency Trade Scam, Case Filed
New Delhi: An senior official of the Union Health Ministry was allegedly duped of Rs 27 lakhs under the pretext investing his money into the currency market, Delhi police officials informed on Wednesday. According to Delhi police, the victim has alleged that he was approached by a person in July 2023, who convinced the ministry official to transfer Rs 27 lakh for the purpose of investing and doubling the money within a year in the currency market. "Victim alleged that he informed him that he is investing & trading the money in the currency market and he would return double the principal amount to the complainant within a span of one year. Hence, on this allurement and inducement, he agreed to give him an amount of twenty seven lakhs," Delhi police said. A case has been registered under sections 308/318(4)/319/340 at South district's Cyber police station on August 11. Earlier on August 17, in a major bust of cyber-extortion, a joint team of PS DBG Road and PS Cyber, Central District, Delhi Police arrested three men, including a London School of Economics graduate, for allegedly trying to extort money through international WhatsApp calls and cryptocurrency payments. The accused, who allegedly posed as associates of a notorious gangster to instil fear, were traced to Thailand before being apprehended on their return to India, officials said. According to police, the case came to light after a complainant approached PS DBG Road, reporting that he had received a threatening WhatsApp call from an international number. The caller identified himself as a well-known gangster, demanded money, and even sent a cryptocurrency QR code for payment. The threat escalated when the complainant was warned that his children would be shot if the demand was not met. Based on the complaint, a case under Section 308(4) BNS was registered at PS DBG Road, and a joint investigation was launched by PS DBG Road and PS Cyber of the Central District.
