Pioneering MLB umpire Pawol debuts behind plate in Braves win
Pawol handled first base duties in game one of a Saturday doubleheader and was at third base for game two, but was involved in every pitch for the concluding game of the series.
Pawol started Sunday with a called strike on Miami leadoff batter Xavier Edwards off a pitch from Braves left-hander Joey Wentz.
The first called strikeout by Pawol came on a 1-ball, 2-strike pitch from Wentz against the Marlins' Kyle Stowers in the top of the fifth inning.
She also went to the mound to hurry along a visit from an assistant coach to Wentz in the fourth inning to cheers from the crowd.
Pawol called her experience a dream come true on Saturday and said her umpire group has a teamwork not unlike those of athletes.
"I'm just so grateful to my family, to Major League Baseball for just creating such an amazing work environment," she said. "To all the umpires that I work with... it's just amazing camaraderie. We're working hard but we're having fun."

"I had to give Jannik something, it's his birthday," he said. "I had brought some from France. I'm a collector - it was the perfect gift." Atmane then put up a poised fight in the opening set before Sinner pulled away in the second for victory. "He was just better than me," Atmane said. "He took all the responsibility in the second set and he was able to play his game. "If it's the world number one then its over already. I fought hard to hold my serve in the first set, but after seven matches my body was tired."

Monster birdie gives MacIntyre four-stroke BMW lead
The 29-year-old Scotsman, runner-up to J.J. Spaun at June's US Open, fired a two-under par 68 to stand on 16-under 194 after 54 holes at Caves Valley in suburban Baltimore. US star Scheffler, whose four victories this season include major triumphs at the PGA Championship and British Open, fired a 67 to finish on 198 but clutch putting by MacIntyre kept him from closing the gap as they battled down the back nine. Sweden's Ludvig Aberg was third on 200 after shooting 68 with England's Harry Hall and American Sam Burns on 202 and England's Tommy Fleetwood and American Maverick McNealy on 203. MacIntyre's two PGA wins came last year at the Canadian and Scottish Opens, the Canada victory coming after his only prior PGA 54-hole lead. MacIntyre, who led Scheffler by five when the day began, found the right rough and a greenside bunker on the way to a bogey at the first hole but dropped his third shot at the par-five fourth inside three feet and tapped in for birdie then sank a seven-foot birdie putt at the ninth to lead by four at 15-under. Colombia's Munoz fires 59 to grab LIV Golf Indy lead
Cracking 60 despite an early double bogey, the 32-year-old from Bogota torched the Club at Chatham Hills in suburban Westfield in the final individual scoring event of the season for the Saudi-backed series. "Amazing round," Munoz said. "I started par, par, birdie, feeling like normal, like let's try to go low and then a double hits me and I just kind of stayed positive. "I made a couple birdies, just trying to make a run, and we made eight straight. When I look I've got cameras on top of me and I make the math and it's possible -- you just got to birdie out. "I made great putts on 17 and 18 to keep it going and a really good wedge shot on one to finish it up." The wedge set up a three-foot birdie putt which he sank to complete his career-low round, having twice before fired 60s. "The break was a little tricky so I just didn't want to kind of mess it up," Munoz said. "I've missed some short ones before so I just really tried to focus and at the moment just hit it as smooth as I could and it went in. So it was great." Two-time major winner Dustin Johnson was second on 62 with season points leader Joaquin Niemann of Chile, Belgium's Thomas Pieters, American Patrick Reed and Australian Cam Smith sharing third on 64. Munoz was one off the LIV record of 58 set by two-time US Open winner Bryson DeChambeau in the final round of the 2023 LIV Golf Greenbrier.
