Even more iconic? It's the first Netflix soundtrack to hit No. 1 on the Soundtracks chart in over two years — since Stranger Things: Soundtrack from the Netflix Series, Season 4, re-entered atop the list dated November 19, 2022, making it a huge moment not just for K-pop fans, but for streaming-based film music altogether.
Streaming played a major role in this win: of 31,000 equivalent album units in the U.S., 27,000 were SEA units, equal to over 37 million on-demand streams. It also debuted at No. 10 on Top Streaming Albums and No. 18 on Top Album Sales, with another 3,000 coming from pure sales.
The only other soundtrack to make a dent in the Billboard 200 this year? Wicked, which debuted at No. 2 last December and remained in the top 10 for eight weeks—until now, it was the lone soundtrack holding that title for 2025.
Fans went wild for the release, which features original K-pop hits paired with an animated adventure full of high-stakes demon-slaying energy and girl group flair. The movie also scored a spot at No. 6 on Netflix's Top 10 U.S. Movies the same week of its premiere.

Movie Review: Scarlett Johansson's 'Jurassic World Rebirth' has its moments, but is largely forgettable
At this point, it feels like the Jurassic franchise is less about evolution and more about selective repetition. Jurassic World Rebirth, the latest dino-sized instalment by Gareth Edwards (Rogue One, Godzilla), tries to reboot the legacy with a new cast, bigger hybrids, and enough callbacks to make Alan Grant nostalgic — but ends up somewhere between a popcorn flick and a prehistoric shrug. David Koepp, returns after writing the original Jurassic Park and The Lost World. The plot, if you're curious, is straight out of the 'What If We Just Went Back to the Island Again?' playbook. Scarlett Johansson stars as Zora Bennett, a covert ops specialist who, alongside Mahershala Ali's commanding Duncan Kincaid and Jonathan Bailey's charmingly flustered paleontologist Henry Loomis, is sent to retrieve dino DNA from a forbidden island that's definitely not on Google Maps. The quest giver, you guessed it, is an evil corporate company eyeing the dino DNA for money-making purposes. Rupert Friend, who plays Martin Krebs, is their representative. Tagging along? An entirely random, narrative-deadweight family who happen to be there as a result of pure chance, and other members of the crew — because why not throw in some dinosaur treats? It was fun guessing who would become the treat first. Now, let's be real: watching Johansson go full action-heroine amidst T-Rex-sized threats is undeniably fun. Black Widow may be gone, but Zora's got gun, grit and great hair. Bailey brings in some candy along with the nerdy-cute energy, dropping flirtatious one-liners with enough charm to make even a Velociraptor blush. Mahershala Ali, as always, elevates every scene he's in with gravitas and warmth. The rest of the team? To reiterate, they're here only to be chased through the jungle in increasingly creative ways. Even then we don't really get satisfying dinosaur gore. But oh, the dinosaurs. While some of the creatures still inspire awe (there's a Titanosaurus sequence that's straight-up heartwarming, and an Aquilops you just want to adopt), the mutated 'Distortus Rex' feels like someone fed a T-Rex bad soup and added two extra limbs just for the final boss fight vibes. It's ugly, clunky, and barely terrifying with that Beluga-shaped head. Also, not to nitpick, but can someone please give the wardrobe department a memo? One character refuses to button up his shirt for this dinosaur adventure. Visually, the film is slick — but it never quite reaches the grandeur of Spielberg's original. There are moments meant to stir nostalgia (yes, there's a river raft sequence borrowed from the original novel), but they feel more like fan-service band-aids than bold reinventions. Ultimately, Rebirth isn't a disaster — it has thrills, laughs, and a few scenes worth the IMAX — but it lacks the thematic weight and cinematic awe that once made Jurassic Park feel like lightning in a bottle. Instead, this is a franchise trying to find a heartbeat in its DNA, unsure whether to go full monster flick or prestige reboot. Final verdict? Entertaining enough for a night out, but hardly the rebirth this franchise needs.

Sean 'Diddy' Combs jury to resume deliberations after partial verdict
The jury in Sean Diddy Combs' trial will continue deliberations on Wednesday, a day after reaching a verdict on four of the five counts the music mogul faces in his sex trafficking case but failing to agree on a racketeering conspiracy charge. US District Judge Arun Subramanian said on July 2 the jury had reached a verdict on the two counts of sex trafficking and two of transportation to engage in prostitution faced by Combs, a former billionaire known for elevating hip-hop in American culture. The judge did not reveal the verdict on those counts. Subramanian instructed the 12-member jury to keep deliberating about the racketeering count after the panel sent him a note indicating jurors had "unpersuadable opinions on both sides." Combs, 55, has pleaded not guilty to all five felony counts. He faces a mandatory 15-year prison sentence if convicted of sex trafficking. A guilty verdict on either that charge or the racketeering conspiracy count could result in up to a life sentence. Jurors must be unanimous to reach a verdict on any count. After reading the note the jury sent Subramanian, Combs appeared emotional, rubbing his eyes and resting his face against his palm while seated at the defence table with his lawyers huddled around him. Over the course of a seven-week trial in Manhattan federal court, prosecutors sought to persuade jurors that Combs for two decades used his business empire to force two of his romantic partners to take part in performances sometimes known as Freak Offs in hotel rooms. Two of Combs' former romantic partners, the rhythm and blues singer Casandra "Cassie" Ventura and a woman known in court by the pseudonym Jane, testified that he beat them and threatened to cut off financial support or leak sex tapes if they stopped taking part in the performances. Combs' lawyers acknowledged that the Bad Boy Records founder, once famed for hosting lavish parties for the cultural elite in luxurious locales like the Hamptons and Saint-Tropez, was at times violent in his domestic relationships. The apparent discord among the jurors had echoes of the sometimes fractious deliberations in movie producer Harvey Weinstein's trial in June on sex crime charges in New York state court in Manhattan, just across the street from where Diddy is on trial. Jurors spent five days deliberating Weinstein's fate, with some acrimony directed toward the foreman. They eventually convicted Weinstein of one felony sex crime but deadlocked on a rape charge, leading to a mistrial on that count. A criminal enterprise? To convict Combs of racketeering conspiracy, prosecutors would need to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he was part of a criminal enterprise consisting of his employees and other associates whose aim was in part to facilitate his sexual abuse and keep evidence of wrongdoing under wraps. Jurors heard testimony from Combs' former personal assistants who said their jobs included setting up hotel rooms for Freak Offs and buying their boss illegal substances. An InterContinental security guard testified that Combs, in the presence of his chief of staff, paid him $100,000 (Dh367,300) to hand over what he thought was the only copy of the surveillance tape of his attack on Ventura. And Scott Mescudi, the rapper known as Kid Cudi, told jurors Combs was likely involved in an arson on his car after Combs found out he was romantically involved with Ventura. The defence argued Combs was a successful entrepreneur who used illegal substances recreationally, but kept his professional and personal lives separate. Combs has been held in federal lockup in Brooklyn since his September 2024 arrest.
