Selbeyonce returns to Gagasi FM's afternoon drive show

TimesLIVE21-06-2025
Mzansi, the queen is back on the airwaves.
Much to the delight of her fans, beloved radio and TV personality Selby 'Selbeyonce' Mkhize is making a triumphant return to Gagasi FM, the heartbeat of KwaZulu-Natal.
After years away from the station where her media career took flight, Selby is rejoining the station on June 23, and she's not coming quietly. She'll be lighting up the Gagasi Fast Lane, the station's high-energy afternoon drive show, alongside the iconic duo Sphectacula and DJ Naves.
Her journey began in 2008 as a voice-over artist. By 2009, she had already made waves as the sass-filled gossip columnist on the weekend breakfast show Lively and Loud.
The momentum kept building as she brought the heat to the Top 40 in 2010 and owned the Saturday night party scene in 2011. In 2012, she took a step back from the station, but her legacy never faded. Now, more than a decade later, she's coming home and fans can't wait.
Earlier this week, speculation swirled that Selbeyonce was headed to a youth radio station, a claim that Gagasi FM quickly and firmly squashed. In a strongly-worded statement, the station said: 'We wish to state unequivocally that these claims are entirely baseless and purely speculative. It is deeply concerning that the publication failed to consider the potential reputational and commercial harm such unfounded allegations could cause to both the individual named and our business.'

Minnie Ntuli makes triumphant return to Gagasi FM: fans celebrate her comeback on ‘The Uprising'

Gagasi FM's Minnie Ntuli is back on the airwaves. The radio presenter returned to her morning slot on "The Uprising" alongside Felix Hlophe after stepping away from her duties in July. The station announced the news in a social media post on Monday morning, revealing that Ntuli has officially resumed her role. During her time away, her seat on the popular breakfast show was taken over by fellow presenter Nkulee Mbatha. Ntuli's absence followed a dramatic clash that was revealed during 'The Real Housewives of Durban' reunion, which caused a stir both on and off screen. In the heated moment, a never-before-seen clip was played, showing fellow castmate Londie London questioning Ntuli about her upbringing. Ntuli felt the comment was a direct insult to her parents. The confrontation quickly escalated, with Ntuli hurling a cushion across the room and accusing London of 'dishonouring' her parents. The tension boiled over when Ntuli poked London in the forehead while shouting insults, leaving her stunned but composed as she labelled Ntuli a 'bully.' At the time, the station publicly acknowledged her actions, saying she had apologised to the production team and her fellow cast members and reassured listeners that they were committed to supporting a process of healing and reconciliation. 'Our focus is on promoting reconciliation. Both Minnie and the other cast members are professionals in the media industry, and it is likely they will work together again in future,' the statement read. With Ntuli now back behind the mic, Gagasi FM appears ready to move forward. The comment section under the station's Facebook post has been filled with positivity, with fans celebrating her comeback. Many said they missed her voice and the energy she brings to mornings, and that they are excited to hear her back on the air alongside Hlophe. Miss Zyander Deleki wrote, 'I love Nkulee so much, but no one does 'The Uprising' better than this duo. Welcome back, Minnie.' While Khanyisile Ntuli said, 'Perfect combo, oh, we missed you a lot, Minnie, welcome back. I love the energy you bring to the show. 🥰' 'Welcome back💕everyone makes mistakes and we need to forgive,' said Sandy Goldwana.

South African dad declares 'no more noodles' in viral TikTok family meeting

Father calls a family meeting declaring that he will no longer be buying noodles. Image: Screenshot / TikTok 'No more noodles!' A South African dad is fed up with everyone in his family constantly eating noodles, so he has demanded that no more noodles be bought when they go grocery shopping over the weekend. With over two million views, the clip of the family meeting called by the dad has gone viral on TikTok. The Mzansi's Greatest Family, who have over a million followers, are well known for sharing funny videos. In this instance, the dad shares his frustration about how many noodles everyone in the family eats and the fact that, because of the noodles, they are no longer sitting down as a family to have meals together. What bugs him even more is that no one, including the mom, cooks anymore. After the children protest about this new rule, he admits that he also likes noodles, but remains adamant that he no longer wants them in the house. Video Player is loading. Next Stay Close ✕ He points out that since the children simply make the noodles and eat them in their rooms, they no longer sit down and eat as a family. While he doesn't have a problem with noodles being an in-between meal, he no longer wants them served for dinner. Even though he directs the request for more home-cooked meals to the whole family, he specifically turns to his wife, saying, 'Sometimes, my love, you don't cook.' The family, clearly up in arms about this decision, are told to speak to him one-on-one to discuss the matter further as he concludes the family meeting. Followers of the popular TikTok family were impressed with the father's leadership skills, while others felt the meeting was subtly directed at the mom for not cooking as much as he would like her to. 'The subject of the meeting was the mom, the kids were there for his protection,' said one viewer. Another wrote: 'This was a strategy to address 'my love', so everyone had to get involved.' Noodles have become a winning dish for many, especially when it comes to little ones. They are quick and easy to make, and of course, there's the slurping that kids adore.
