Anyone But You follows two people who fall out after a promising first date but end up pretending to be the perfect couple during a destination wedding in Australia.
A clear answer might still be missing, but Sydney Sweeney isn't ruling anything out just yet. The Anyone But You star has once again fuelled curiosity around a possible sequel to the 2023 rom-com, saying she doesn't have anything concrete to share right now.
In a recent interview with Empire, the 27-year-old actress said, 'You'll just have to wait and see. It's not a no, and it's not a yes. It's a, 'I don't have an answer that I can say for you.'"
Sydney, who starred alongside Glen Powell in the film, has kept things vague for a while now. Earlier this year, during the Madame Web premiere in February, she gave a similar response when E! News asked about reuniting with Glen for another project.
'I can't actually reveal all of my secrets," she said. 'But Glen and I—I mean, I was talking to him this morning—we're talking about stuff."
When the reporter tried to clarify whether 'stuff" meant a sequel, she replied, 'You never know, you'll have to wait and see."
Glen, too, has been careful not to spill anything. But when E! News had shared Sydney's comments on Instagram, he reacted with a set of emojis that included a zipped mouth, a heart, prayer hands and sunglasses. That subtle reaction was enough to leave fans guessing even more.
Sydney and Glen's off-screen bond has been a topic of interest ever since the release of the film. Rumours of a possible real-life romance started when they were seen spending time together, especially after Sydney's breakup with her ex-fiancé Jonathan Davino earlier this year. The speculation grew stronger when she attended Glen's sister's wedding in Texas.
But both the actors have maintained that they are just close friends. Glen spoke about Sydney's connection with his family during his appearance on Jenna & Friends in April, saying, 'She and Syd are obviously great friends. It was a hell of a wedding. The Powells know how to do it right." He also joked about the timing, adding, 'Timing is everything in this world, isn't it?"
Even Glen's mother, Cyndy Powell, stepped in to clear things up, telling the press, 'They're definitely not together."
'We love Sydney. We've considered her just a really, really good friend. We were all together so much and we haven't seen her in a long time. She's really a friend and we all enjoy her," she told the Daily Mail.
