It was a night to forget at Ibrox as Rangers slumped to a 3-1 defeat in their Champions League play-off first leg.
Few inside the stadium could quite believe what was happening as the Gers found themselves three goals down inside the opening 20 minutes amid an almighty defensive shambles.
Many fans had seen enough and headed for the exit door.
Danilo got a goal back early in the second half as the Gers attempted to mount a fightback.
They thought they'd got it back to 3-2 as the game approached its final stages with regular Euro hero Djeidi Gassama popping up with the goal.
However, it wasn't to be.
Gassama weaved his way into the box, saw a shot deflected before prodding the ball home from close range.
The referee gave the goal but the Brugge players weren't happy.
VAR got involved and the whistler was off to the monitor.
He was then shown that Brugge keeper Simon Mignolet appeared to have his hands on the ball first - BEFORE Gassama tapped it into the net.

After a quick look, the goal was chalked off leaving Ibrox deflated.
It was a controversial moment but one that ex-Gers No1 Allan McGregor believes the officials called correctly.
The laws of the game state a ball cannot be removed from a goalkeeper's possession when they are in control of it - and McGregor reckons Mignolet did indeed get his hands to the ball first before Gassama prodded home.
McGregor told Prime Video: "Unfortunately it probably is a free-kick, yeah.
"I never got a right good view of it but if the ball is in his hands first, which I think slightly it is, then he's deemed to be in control of it.
"Unfortunately it is a free-kick.
"By the way, he's done brilliantly to get it into that position."
McGregor was joined on the Prime panel by former Gers teammate Scott Arfield.
The current Falkirk ace agreed with the former keeper's assessment.
Arfield added: "I do agree because obviously Allan doesn't want to say that but he's also a member of the goalies' union.
"You have to say he's got the two hands on the ball, it is a bit soft, but he is in control.
"It's one of them, if it's for you you're delighted."

Dons yobs who challenged Rangers fans to fight outside pub handed year-long ban
Six Aberdeen football supporters have been banned from attending all Scottish football games for a year after they marched on a pub where Rangers fans were drinking and challenged them to fight. Dons supporters Dylan Duncan, 23, Brandon Emslie, 23, Neale Ross, 36, Callum Seymour, 25, Brad Rogers, 22, and Ryan Combe, 21, appeared in the dock at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, where they admitted conducting themselves in a disorderly manner on April 23 last year. It was stated that prior to Aberdeen FC hosting Rangers at Pittodrie Stadium, the group had been in The Scotia Bar. From there, a growing number of young men confronted Rangers supporters as they exited the Saltoun Arms, where they goaded them and challenged them to fight. While some fights did break out, none of the six were seen to be involved in any physical violence. Sheriff Ian Wallace told each of the men that their actions had put the safety of other supporters – including families – at 'risk' and stated that it was his responsibility to protect the public. He handed each of the men a ban from all professional football games for a year – and put an additional measure in place, meaning the six cannot enter certain city streets on matchdays. Fiscal depute Emma Petersen told the court that the SPFL fixture was designated an 'increased risk' and a significant amount of police resources were dedicated to ensuring order. The Saltoun Arms, on Park Street, Aberdeen, is known to host travelling supporters on matchdays. At around 2.30pm – two hours before kick-off – all six accused were within the Scotia Bar drinking and socialising with a large group of Dons supporters. As they exited the bar, many of their faces were covered – albeit not the accused – and most wore black outfits. The group moved off as a collective, with some shouting 'keep together', 'keep close' and 'keep on the same side of the pavement'. The police had concerns about the group's direction of travel and made attempts to block their movement. They managed to successfully block the Aberdeen supporters from entering Park Street, but the group turned and ran as a collective through a nearby lane onto Park Place and made it to Park Street. Numerous police resources were deployed to the area to meet the supporters as they arrived outside the Saltoun Arms. By this time, there were more Aberdeen supporters than just the group who left the Scotia Bar together. As they arrived, a large number of Rangers supporters exited the Saltoun Arms. The two groups of supporters goaded each other, and challenges to fight were made. The police eventually managed to separate the groups. A short time later, a group of Aberdeen supporters – including the six accused – ran as a collective along Constitution Street and Rangers supporters ran as a collective along Wales Street. As they came together on South Constitution Street, some Aberdeen and Rangers supporters engaged in a physical fight. None of the accused was seen engaging in physical violence. More than 30 police officers were deployed to the area due to the disorder. Shortly after, the six accused were seen on CCTV returning to the Scotia Bar with other members of the group who had left at the same time. In the dock, Duncan, Emslie, Ross, Seymour, Rogers and Combe pleaded guilty to one charge of causing a breach of the peace. Defence solicitor Michael Horsman told the court that Duncan 'admitted becoming involved in the behaviour' and had been involved in challenging Rangers fans to a fight but was 'not involved in any violence'. Jenny Logan, lawyer for Emslie, stated that her then-21-year-old client's actions that day were down to 'immaturity'. 'He accepts his involvement and takes responsibility for what happened,' she added. George Mathers, Ross's defence solicitor, said his client was not seen to challenge anyone to a fight but was part of the group who marched to the Saltoun Arms. 'He was present at various places where there was trouble,' Mr Mathers conceded, adding: 'But he doesn't challenge anyone.' Defence solicitor for Seymour, Liam McAllister, claimed that any football banning order imposed by the court would have a 'disproportionate impact' on his client, stating that, as part of his bail conditions, he has not been able to attend any football games for more than 600 days. 'This incident has caused Mr Seymour great embarrassment and shame,' he added. Iain Jane, defence solicitor for Rogers, said his client was able to be 'tracked on CCTV as part of this mob' and said that when the group began to disperse, he 'disassociated himself' and went back to the Scotia Bar. 'At no point is he seen to shout or gesticulate,' Mr Jane said. Combe's solicitor, Kevin Longino, told the court that his client had been drinking that day and had shown a 'level of immaturity' at the time of the incident. He said Combe had since stopped drinking alcohol and had 'settled down since then'. However, it was subsequently revealed that Combe had previously been made subject to two football banning orders. Sentencing the group, Sheriff Ian Wallace told them they had left the Scotia Bar that day 'fully intending' to meet up with Rangers supporters and 'challenge them to a fight'. 'The intentions of the group were obvious, and the high risk was clear,' he said. 'You did not just put yourself at risk, you put other supporters, including young families going to the match, at risk. 'The court has a responsibility to protect the public.' As an alternative to a prison sentence, Sheriff Wallace made all six men subject to a community payback order with supervision for 12 months and ordered them to each carry out 150 hours of unpaid work. He also put a football banning order in place, meaning all six accused cannot attend any Scottish football match for the next 12 months.

Live updates: Aberdeen pre-match press conference ahead of 2025/26 Premiership kick-off at Hearts
Aberdeen's first pre-match press conference of the 2025/26 season, ahead of Monday's Premiership opener at Hearts, will be held at 1.15pm on Friday – and we are bringing you all of the key updates from Cormack Park. Jimmy Thelin's Dons will have to wait to kick off their top-flight campaign, and head to Tynecastle for a televised showdown with a Jambos side now managed by ex-Reds gaffer Derek McInnes. Aberdeen boss Thelin will be speaking with the media at the club's training ground ahead of the match – and his sophomore season – while one player will also talk to the press. Topics are sure to include attacker Pape Habib Gueye's exit and the Dons' hunt for further summer reinforcements – including their bid to land AC Milan's Serbian forward Marko Lazetic. As well as Monday evening's Hearts game and squad news, including injury updates on the likes of Emmanuel Gyamfi, Kristers Tobers and Ester Sokler, there is also likely to be some build-up to the Europa League play-off draw involving the Reds, which is scheduled for Monday lunchtime. 'But everyone else is available', Thelin added. 1.49pm: Thelin, reiterating what he said after the Ipswich friendly on Friday, on Hearts v Aberdeen, said – 'We are ready for an exciting first league game away against Hearts, to play against our away supporters in the atmosphere (at Tynecastle) in a competitive game. 'There are a lot of positive things to look forward to, and of course we feel ready for this game.' 1.48pm: Thelin – 'With this situation it's always difficult to say something. The first topic was not just Pape Gueye's departure, but also the exit of the likes of defender Richard Jensen – who departed on Thursday night – and attacker Vicente Besuijen, who has been loaned to HJK Helsinki until January: 'The players all contributed when they were here and did really good. 'Sometimes players leave. It's a normal process of the game when they've been in a club some years. 'Sometimes it's for exposure to more game-time, and sometimes they are moving on in their career for another adventure and another opportunity. 'Some are on loan, some are departures – so it's two different situations… but we're always proud of our players and we wish them luck.' The Dons, who finished fifth in the Premiership – despite looking like contenders for second early in the campaign – won just five away games in the top-flight last term. If you discount their first three away games of the season, during their incredible start to Thelin's rein, it was just TWO. The good news? Aberdeen were unbeaten in four meetings against Monday's opponents Hearts last season, but the Gorgie outfit have made a strong start in the Premier Sports Cup under their new boss Derek McInnes – the long-time Dons manager. McInnes has guided his side to four straight wins, scoring 16 goals and conceding one, as they topped their section in qualification from the group stage. It should also be noted Aberdeen haven't won at Tynecastle, I think, since 2017. Alongside the SMISA, it is a real Reds bogey venue. 12.16pm: Of course, the main topic of the press conference at Cormack Park on Friday is to set the scene for Monday's tough Premiership opener at Hearts. Following Friday night's final pre-season friendly against Ipswich Town (3-1 defeat), Jimmy Thelin confirmed striker Ester Sokler was not in his squad due to injury. (However, he also said that about the now-departed Pape Gueye's absence… *eyes emoji*) Will Sokler be confirmed as fit again for the Hearts game, given Aberdeen only have him, Yengi and Peter Ambrose as recognised senior strikers on their books just now? The other fitness question marks going into Friday's presser revolve around Latvia captain and centre-back Kristers Tobers and new left-back Emmanuel Gyamfi, who both missed all of the pre-season games. Thelin's prognosis on their injuries – and the timeline for their return – has been vague so far. Tobers struggled with hamstring complaint, which meant he missed nine games at the tail-end of last term following his big-money January arrival, though he did come on in the Scottish Cup final victory over Celtic. Gyamfi, meanwhile, has still to make his debut after arriving from Schalke 04's B team. Maybe Thelin will give us more clarity today, but I wouldn't expect to see Tobers or Gyamfi at Tynecastle as things stand. 12.08pm: As Gueye leaves Aberdeen, the Dons have been ramping up their bid to sign 21-year-old Serbian striker Marko Lazetic from Italian giants AC Milan. The forward was a Dons target in January, and negotiations have been continuing ever since, The Press and Journal understands. But Milan are proving hard to pin down over Lazetic – who is not in the picture at the San Siro and spent last term on loan with TSC in his homeland. While there have been reports of AC demanding as much as four million euros for the forward, it is understood Dons chiefs expect it will take far less to land their man – who they view as a 'project' player in a summer where they have already signed 26-year-old Australia international striker Kusini Yengi. Will Thelin anything about the Lazetic chase? 12.03pm: Just like that, Gueye's move to Turkey has been confirmed by Aberdeen. 'We wish Pape all the very best with his transfer to Turkey, and we thank him for his contributions during his time at Aberdeen, notably his positive impact in the Scottish Cup final', said Dons boss Jimmy Thelin. 'We're pleased with our recruitment so far this summer and the work remains ongoing to bring in further reinforcements and improvements ahead of the window closing. We are still shaping the squad. 'We thank Pape for his efforts and wish him all the best with the next chapter in his career.' 11.58am: The very first thing Aberdeen boss Jimmy Thelin is likely to be asked about in his Friday presser is the impending departure of attacker Pape Habib Gueye for Turkish side Kasimpasa. It is understood the Dons will make a £350,000 profit on the 25-year-old Senegalese, pulling in an £850,000 fee, having paid Belgian outfit KV Kortrijk £500,000 for his services two summers ago. Gueye's transfer away from Aberdeen is expected to be confirmed imminently, but it is unclear how much Thelin, often tight-lipped about such matters, will say about the deal to the media – though he will likely discuss the frontman's contribution during the gaffer's year at Pittodrie.

Manchester United still have work to do in the final days of the transfer window as the club look to strengthen Ruben Amorim's midfield before the deadline passes at the turn of the month Manchester United have less than two weeks to complete the remainder of their work in the transfer window. Ruben Amorim will hope the club's activity will help his team reach greater heights after producing an impressive display that ended in defeat against Arsenal. The Red Devils have already seen significant signings in Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha, having splashed out in the region of £200million. The trio made their competitive debuts against the Gunners but were unable to find the net. And Amorim looks to want more reinforcements in his squad, with midfield among the priorities. A move for Carlos Baleba has been stopped in its tracks by Brighton's asking price being in excess of £100m. United may need to facilitate more sales to aid any new deals. Marcus Rashford has already departed on loan to Barcelona but new clubs are still required for Jadon Sancho, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho. Man Utd transfer plan Manchester United are still considering signing a central midfielder before the end of the summer transfer window after moving on from Carlos Baleba. Wharton meanwhile may be a difficult deal to do as Crystal Palace face seeing Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze depart for Liverpool and Tottenham respectively. The 21-year-old has four years left on his contract. Man Utd can hijack Donnarumma deal Manchester United have found new hope in financing a deal for Gianluigi Donnarumma this summer as interest builds in goalkeeper Andre Onana. Inter Milan are interested in bringing back the glovesman that helped them to the Champions League final in 2023. Onana's position has been widely speculated upon since arriving in England after failing to convince during a difficult period for United. If Inter do come in with a bid, United could have the funds to quickly go out and land their replacement. Donnarumma could become an immediate target, despite interest from neighbours Manchester City, after Paris Saint-Germain decided they wanted to part ways with the Italian. The Champions League winners want to earn a fee for the shotstopper after failing to come to an agreement over a new deal and signing Lucas Chevalier as a replacement. It is said Donnarumma could be available for as little as £26m. Casemiro transfer stance Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is happy at Old Trafford, despite persistent talk of a move away from the club over the last 12 months. The Brazilian midfielder has produced inconsistent form in the Premier League in recent seasons but started under Ruben Amorim in the first match of the season against Arsenal. Casemiro has another 12 months on his contract, and has seen links to Saudi Arabia, but appears content to spend another year with the club. "I am very happy here," he said "My family is happy here. I enjoy every day at Carrington and at Old Trafford. If people talk from the outside, that's fine, it doesn't interest me. I just want to focus on winning."
