Fact Check: 2022 video of Indonesian mosque burning FALSELY shared as arson in Spain
Many also shared this video online, claiming this was retaliation against Islamic terrorism.India Today Fact Check found that the viral video is from Indonesia, not Spain, and it has been online since 2022.Our ProbeA reverse search of keyframes from the viral clip led us to the same video, shared on TikTok on October 20, 2022, with the Indonesian caption: 'Fire Erupts in the Dome of the Jakarta Islamic Centre Mosque.' This means the viral video predates the recent clashes in Spain.Several news reports published in October 2022 confirmed that the incident occurred on October 19 in North Jakarta, Indonesia. According to CNBC-TV18, the dome of the Jami Mosque caught fire and collapsed while it was undergoing renovation. The mosque is located within the building complex of the Jakarta Islamic Centre, a think tank focused on Islamic studies and development. Two photos can also be seen inside the viral video. While the video is indeed from Indonesia, a reverse search of both these photos shows that they have been featured in several Spanish news reports that described them as before and after visuals of the Piera Mosque fire in Barcelona. Additionally, we found videos on YouTube with similar visuals, which are reportedly from the Piera Mosque in Spain. Thus, it is clear that the viral video has nothing to do with the recent anti-migrant clashes in Spain.- Ends

Deja vu: England, Spain to clash again in Women's Euro Championship final
There's a sense of deja vu about the Women's European Championship final that pits defending champion England against World Cup winner Spain. The two nations faced off in the World Cup final two years ago with Spain edging an open match 1-0. I think obviously that was a massive disappointment and I feel like from a collective we probably feel like we didn't have our best performance that day, but I think if you're trying to pull on that too much then you're going to be too emotional with too many things going on, England midfielder Keira Walsh said on Thursday. Obviously you think about it a little bit but I think for us, put it to the side and focus on the game on Sunday. We've got so many new players in this team who are really confident and bring so many things to this team, so it's exciting and we can just focus on the positives. Both teams needed 120 minutes to get through their gruelling semifinals. England's super-subs had their part to play again on Tuesday with late goals first taking the match to extra time and then securing a last-gasp 2-1 victory over Italy. Spain needed a moment of magic from two-time Ballon d'Or winner Aitana Bonmati to get past a resilient German side 1-0 on Wednesday. It will be a first Euros final for Spain but even before the tournament it had been the favorite to add the European title to its collection after winning the World Cup and Nations League in the past two years. Spain's triumph at the World Cup was marred by the Luis Rubiales scandal, after the-then head of the Spanish soccer federation kissed player Jenni Hermoso during the awards ceremony. Rubiales was subsequently charged with sexual assault and convicted a few months before the start of Euro 2025, bringing an end to one of the worst chapters in the history of Spanish soccer. Walsh, who made 100 appearances for Barcelona over two-and-a-half seasons, was playing in Spain at the time and witnessed the fallout first hand. I think the most important thing for them is that they can enjoy this final, there's not the controversy surrounding it, she said. I think just for the girls this time and as a friend and another football player, for them just to go and enjoy it. They play incredible football and they deserve to be there, so as a human being I just want them to go out and enjoy the game of football. Walsh doesn't feel Spain's star-packed squad received enough credit after the World Cup triumph. Obviously after the game there was a lot of controversy and I don't think for them there was enough spotlight on how incredible they played and how incredible some of their players were, it was all about the other stuff that had gone on, she said. I think as a professional that was disappointing to see. Obviously I have a lot of friends in that team and I think they probably deserved a little bit more than what they got. Pakistani woman sent to police custody in daughter's ‘honour killing' case
A Pakistani court on Thursday remanded a woman to police custody for two days in connection with the alleged honour killing of her daughter and a man in Balochistan province. In a viral video, the woman is purportedly seen holding the Holy Quran and stating that the act was not a crime but aligned with traditional values. (Representative Image) The incident took place some days ago at the Sanjidi Degari area near Quetta. The woman, identified as Gul Jan Bibi, was arrested after a video surfaced on social media in which she justified the killings, citing adherence to Baloch tribal customs. She was presented before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Quetta, which sent her on a two-day police remand. In the video, Gul is seen holding the Holy Quran and stating that the act was not a crime but aligned with traditional values. 'My daughter who was married with five children was killed because of her relations with a Baloch youngster who used to post objectionable videos on Tik Tok despite several warnings given to him by our family. 'In Balochi culture, having illicit relations is a crime and punishable by death. The decision to shoot them was taken by a Jirga (tribal council),' she said in the video message. Police also arrested a tribal leader and 10 others in connection with the case, which came into limelight last week after a video went viral in which Gul's daughter and her male friend were seen being shot dead by a group of men in a mountainous area. According to the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, there were at least 405 victims of honour killings in 2024 across various parts of the country.
