YouTube Taps Former NFL Player Cam Newton and Creator Deestroying for Chiefs-Chargers Brazil Game
YouTube will be combining traditional on-air talent with creators for its first exclusive NFL live broadcast. The social platform announced 13 sports personalities and YouTube creators who will be narrating the Kansas City Chiefs vs. the Los Angeles Chargers game in São Paulo, Brazil, on Sept. 5.
The game will be available to watch for free on YouTube and YouTube TV. Coverage will begin with YouTube's pre-game show at 7 p.m. ET/8 p.m. BRT (local time), and the game will kick off at 8 p.m. ET/9 p.m. BRT.

Rich Eisen, the Emmy-nominated sportscaster who has worked with the NFL Network since 2003, will lead the charge in the booth. He will be joined by game analyst, Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback and MVP Kurt Warner as well as rules analyst Terry McAulay, who worked as an NFL official for roughly 20 years. Telemundo sports commentator René Giraldo will be responsible for the play-by-play in Spanish, and former NFL kicker Edgar Lopez will offer color commentary in Spanish.
Veteran sideline correspondent Stacey Dales will be reporting live from the field at Corinthians Arena. He will be joined by YouTube creator and former kicker Deestroying, aka Donald De La Haye. Deestroying has 6.3 million followers on YouTube.
The pregame show will be broadcast live from São Paulo and the NFL Network's Los Angeles studios. In Brazil, the show will be hosted by Kay Adams, a sports media personality as well as the host of 'Up and Adams' on YouTube, and Cam Newton, Heisman Trophy winner and former NFL MVP. Adams' 'Up and Adams' has 510,000 followers on YouTube. As for the L.A.-based pregame team, that will be composed of former NFL players Derek Carr, Brandon Marshall and Tyrann Mathieu as well as Peter Overzet, a YouTube creator with 19,900 followers who specializes in fantasy sports.
Finally, Adams and Newton will return to provide their expert analysis, game recaps and highlights for the postgame show. Dales will provide player and coach interviews, and Deestroying will share insights from his experience on the sidelines.

Previously, YouTube and the NFL announced the Grammy-winning Karol G would be performing at the halftime show. Additional details about the pregame, in-game and postgame will be announced at a later date, including upcoming cameos and content from some of the biggest names on the platform.

Let's say it is, it is around the 25th unit in the NFL. Which guy would you be more worried about in this scenario, Ashton Gentry or Brock Bowers? And I will tell you my answer to this. To me, I actually think it's Ashton Gentry a little bit from a, from a ceiling perspective, Nate, because I look, I flipped this to the other side of the ball for the Raiders where that secondary is gonna get deep fried. So, you know, I, I, I. I don't know how many run looks, and Ashton Gentry's gonna be in the field for a ton of snaps. He can catch passes. He's gonna, he's gonna be OK, but like, this is why I might view him as more of like an early second-round pick instead of like a top 10 consensus pick this year. Like we're splitting hairs. I don't think he's gonna be terrible, but again, like if I'm picking one to disappoint, like marginally disappoint, it would be Gentry over Bowers. Do you agree or disagree? I, I, I agree, and also just you just mentioned the past game wise, game script wise. I, I, I would say I'm, I'm, I would, I don't wanna say optimistic, but I think the Raiders' defense can be fine. But again, you just mentioned bad team beaters. There's gonna be teams that overwhelm this team and then they pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, and Gentry might get some dirty dump offs and two-minute drills and all that kind of stuff, or I think that no matter what, Bowers is gonna get his every single week. Like they're tight ends. Michael Mayer might eat into it a little bit, but I just think Bowers is the feature player of this passing game and he is a quarterback that is willing and able to throw it. And he has an offensive coordinator that calls the perfect plays for Bowers. Bowers is an explosive slot player. He is great when he can catch and run. I mean, he can do anything. He was just some dunk on a guy on the outside. He might be the outside guy, who knows. But if you see him, he can catch a crossing route and go, and that's what Chip Kelly loves to call for his players. So like that one is just the easiest one. Gentry, also, I really like the player, just overall, a physical runner. OK, we're gonna feed them. They, Chip Kelly prefers to kind of go with a 60/40, 70/30 kind of split. Um, whether it was UCLA, the Eagles, this is the guy that signed two running backs in one offseason to big deals. Like, he likes to have two guys. So like there's also, OK, let's save our prize top 10 pick, and you know, don't want to get too much damage. They don't have really any guy that, I mean, most hurt, most hurt. You know, but it's just there's maybe not that bull that can kind of take a lot of the, lot of the... God, that's a great line, Nate, but a guy that can take a lot of the other touches. But so with Gentry too, it's just that, OK, are we gonna, there's some wear and tear. He's a physical runner. So is there going to be some games where it's like, hey, let's save him some touches and all that. This is me, again, this is all theory and just talking it out, but I agree with you that I think he gets dinged more than Bauer, so I think it will be featured no matter what the game script is. Mbappe lifts Real Madrid past Osasuna in La Liga opener
Kylian Mbappe struck from the penalty spot as Real Madrid beat a dogged Osasuna 1-0 on Tuesday to make a winning start in La Liga under new coach Xabi Alonso. The France striker, last season's European Golden Shoe winner, scored early in the second half after he was fouled in the area by Osasuna defender Juan Cruz. It was enough to seal the points in Alonso's first game in charge at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Madrid now unbeaten in their opening fixture of a league campaign since 2008. "You can see that Kylian wants to do even more after this first year where he did great things," said Alonso. Mbappe finished as La Liga's top scorer with 31 goals in his first season in Spain, and is now wearing the number 10 shirt vacated by Luka Modric after the Croatian left for AC Milan last month. "I don't know if it's linked to the new number or not, or simply to his desire to win, but he wants to improve individual and collective performance and inspire his team-mates," added Alonso. "You can see his desire every day. Today he created those decisive moments that enable us to win matches." Madrid had a shortened pre-season after their run to the Club World Cup semi-finals in July, but Alonso has been adamant that would not be used as an excuse after their request for the Osasuna match to be postponed to a later date was rejected. "To start on the right foot is key in La Liga. We know we weren't well prepared," Madrid defender Dani Carvajal told DAZN. "But we basically didn't suffer and it was a complete display." Osasuna goalkeeper Sergio Herrera was equal to both, while Mbappe failed to connect cleanly after being picked out by Vinicius Junior before he curled another shot wide as Madrid struggled to break down their opponents. But Mbappe grabbed the only goal six minutes after half-time after he went down following a clumsy challenge by Cruz as he tried to cut past the defender. Mbappe duly got up and running for the new campaign as he sent Herrera the wrong way from the spot. Alonso handed 18-year-old Argentine winger Franco Mastantuono his debut midway through the second half as Madrid controlled the game and seldom looked troubled. Ante Budimir headed over in a rare opportunity for Osasuna and Mastantuono was denied late on by Herrera. I think, I think, I, I think it will, and I'm not talking like full-scale turn to CDAM or something, although their RP, their RP metrics from their rookie seasons are actually kind of similar, like, you know, and, and. They're not that dissimilar from a build perspective. Like people think would kind of be unlocked by by being a slot guy. I mean, he's a really good that might might open up there, you know, 100%, 100% and, and he's a guy that Again, he, he's like leaner than you think. Now, I know he's got the biceps this year, he's jacked, obviously, he's been eating his protein. That's, that's great, but, and I do think, by the way, being stronger to catch point would be nice. We'll see if the arms help there, but, um, regardless, I think we need some change in his line and just to be a guy that's not, I always talk about this, but 80, 80 outside on the line of scrimmage players. Like the guys that I charted last year that did that, it's like, Wynton Johnson, Nico Collins, badass, of course, uh, George Pickens, uh, DK Metcalf, Cortland Sutton, you know, um, like that tho those, we, we don't want to use Marvin Harrison Jr. like that. I didn't say other than Nico Collins, you hear me, I didn't say like Justin Jefferson. R. Chase, AJ Brown, like, nobody uses their number one receiver like this anymore. So that does need to change, but I think conceptually the offense is pretty sound. The one thing I get hung up on though, Nate, is that I just don't think this is, uh, and like, maybe I'll be proven wrong. I just don't think this offense fits Kyler Murray and Kyler Murray doesn't fit this offense. Close
