Speaking to reporters, he challenged chief minister
openly to produce evidence of any new industrial plant that he had inaugurated in the last three years of tenure.
Majithia said: "He should also tell Punjabis why his govt took three-years-and-a-half to make a new industrial policy and why he was unable to protect industrialists from extortions and targeted killings." Majithia also appealed to Punjabis and estranged Akali leaders to support the SAD to strengthen what he termed "Panthic unity".
"All those who want to strengthen Panthic unity should extend their support to the SAD," he urged.
"Our party is committed to safeguarding the aspirations of Punjabis and ensuring their word is heard at the Centre."
Sukhbir credited for infra
The former SAD minister also took the opportunity to remind AAP candidate Sanjeev Arora that he, along with a prominet industrialist, had approached Sukhbir Singh Badal in his previous term as deputy chief minister to request an airport for Ludhiana.
Majithia credited Sukhbir as the "architect" of the airport and expressways idea in Punjab, also noting that the elevated road in Ludhiana and the Southern Bypass had come up under Sukhbir's leadership.
Highlighting the upcoming Ludhiana West byelection, Majithia endorsed SAD's candidate, Parupkar Singh Ghuman, describing him as "by far the best choice". Majithia praised Ghuman for his "fight for human rights" as an advocate, an "absolutely clean record", and his work as a "social worker". He urged the public to vote for the SAD, reiterating the party's promise to prevent the govt from "acquiring 24,000 acres of fertile land forcibly at any cost".

Ashu asks Kejriwal to answer 3 questions on Rajya Sabha seat
Ludhiana: With the bypoll around the corner, Congress candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu, who is also working president of Punjab Congress, put three questions to AAP national convener , about speculations on the Rajya Sabha seat. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The first question for Kejriwal was whether he would allow AAP candidate Sanjeev Arora, also a Rajya Sabha MP, to continue as MP after the election. The second question is whether Arora would be forced to vacate the seat if he lost the election and whether a Punjabi would be given representation in the Rajya Sabha in his place. The third question was whether Kejriwal would himself go to the Rajya Sabha, and if yes, would he get his name deleted from the New Delhi assembly segment and get himself registered as a voter in Punjab? Ashu posted all these questions on his official Facebook page for Kejriwal. He claimed that Kejriwal was taking all decisions for Punjab as if he was the acting chief minister. Ashu said that Kejriwal needed to tell people of Punjab in general and Ludhiana in particular whether he would allow Sanjeev Arora to continue as Rajya Sabha member after June 23 once election results were declared and he lost. He added that Kejriwal could not evade this question saying that Arora would win. He asked Kejriwal to clarify whether he would let him continue as Rajya Sabha MP or force him to resign to make way for himself in the Rajya Sabha. On the second question, Ashu asked Kejriwal to clarify that in case he (Kejriwal) forced Sanjeev Arora to resign after elections irrespective of the outcome, who would he send to the Rajya Sabha in his place? Would he go to the Rajya Sabha himself or would he nominate some Punjabi to represent Punjab? "My next question is if, and in all probability, Kejriwal forces Sanjeev Arora to resign and he himself decides to go to the Rajya Sabha, would he get his name deleted from the New Delhi assembly segment and register himself as a voter anywhere in Punjab? I would say that we Punjabis are large-hearted. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now We will accept Kejriwal if he accepts us by renouncing his Delhi residency and opting for Punjab. Though he may not become a Punjabi by heart, he will still technically be a naturalised Punjabi. In any case, he is using every facility in Punjab. Morality demands him to either stop using Punjab's privileges or opt for Punjab as his home," added Ashu. Ashu said that he has some more questions for the AAP convener which he would ask some other time. MSID:: 121806081 413 |

Support SAD to foster peace, devp in Punjab: Sukhbir
Ludhiana: (SAD) president on Thursday urged people of Ludhiana West to strengthen the regional party and pave the way for overall development, peace and communal harmony in Punjab. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Campaigning for party candidate Parupkar Singh Ghumman, Sukhbir Badal said, "Only a regional party can fulfil the aspirations of Punjabis and resolve pending issues, besides providing people-centric governance. Parties from Delhi only seek to exploit Punjab." On the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress governments, Badal said, "These governments acted like the erstwhile East India Company. They both looted Punjab to fill coffers of their Delhi leadership. The Ludhiana West bypoll has given an opportunity to take the AAP government to task and begin its countdown," He added that Punjab had never suffered as much as it had under AAP rule. "The law and order situation is such that industrialists are opting to invest in other states now. Extortions and targeted killings have become the norm. AAP legislators are working in collusion with the drug mafia, due to which drug trafficking and drug overdose deaths are only increasing," Sukbir rued. Drawing a comparison with the SAD governance, he said, "Our guiding philosophy is 'sarbat da bhala'. We value and respect each community. People of all communities always felt that the late Parkash Singh Badal was one of them. Such was the confidence all communities had in the former CM and the SAD." Sukhbir also spoke about SAD's track record of development. "Look around you. All development projects, be it thermal plants, airports, or expressways - all came up during SAD governments. The same is the case with all major infrastructure works in Ludhiana, be it the elevated road or the Southern Bypass." Tired of too many ads? go ad free now He also urged people to distinguish between all candidates in the fray before exercising their franchise. "Parupkar Ghumman is a leading advocate who is known for several social initiatives. He is most deserving of your votes. In stark contrast, AAP candidate Sanjeev Arora is based in Gurgaon and is only contesting elections to pave the way for Arvind Kejriwal's ascendency to the Rajya Sabha," Badal added. Action Against Former Delhi Official Over Irregularities In Educational Infrastructure
New Delhi: Disciplinary proceedings will be held against SR Meena -- a former Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department -- for alleged irregularities in the construction of classrooms under Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan during the Aam Aadmi Party government. Delhi's Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has approved a proposal from the vigilance department for this. The decision comes after serious irregularities were allegedly identified in the implementation of the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, a Central initiative aimed at enhancing educational infrastructure in Delhi, which was allocated Rs. 38.37 crore for the construction of 226 classrooms across various schools. SR Meena is currently serving with CPWD in Amritsar. The misconduct dates back to 2019, but the case against another officer, Krishan Pal. Former AAP ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendra Jain were summoned by the Anti-Corruption Branch earlier this week over allegations of financial irregularities of around Rs 2,000 crore in the construction of over 12,000 classrooms and semi-permanent structures in the city's government schools. Officials said investigation revealed several lapses on the part of the PWD, including how the funds were diverted from one school to another - instead of classrooms, halls were being made. The situation escalated when a petition was filed in the Delhi High Court, asking the court to direct the government to hand over possession of six newly built school buildings. The litigation prompted the Chief Secretary to investigate the matter, during which significant irregularities in construction practices and fund management were uncovered.
