Asnaf lady complains about social support: Netizens think the problem was her many babies

Focus Malaysia9 hours ago

WHILE charity to the poor is often seen as a heartwarming act, the result is not always so.
Recently a lady from the Asnaf community went viral for complaining about the lack of efficiency in the Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (MAIWP) system in helping the poor.
According to her in a lengthy video, the system was either slow at responding or gave the wrong items, such as pampers for the babies.
A good number of netizens, however, pointed out her ungratefulness as well as her attitude, which appears to be condescending.
Harap pihak MAIWP ambil maklum la apa yang akak ni komplen dan lepas ni bagi sekali ubat perancang dekat dia. Dah bagi betis, nak paha. Cara cakap tu macam tak bersyukur bantuan orang bagi. Sendiri buat anak, MAIWP pulak nak kena tanggung pampers and susu. DEMAND pulak tu pic.twitter.com/hTjTqUnx6W

'It is tough being a good person. People have offered help but she is not grateful but complains instead,' said netizen @eightletternad.
However, a hard-hitting @AmirulA1253 pointed out that there is a fine line between kindness and stupidity.
Perhaps it is carefully worded insult towards those do-gooders who may make matters worse when trying to help out.
Then there was @10pelukan who comically said, 'When having sex, did she invite the MAIWP officer?'
Several others have since mocked her for having too many babies, take for example, @tolakrasuah suggesting that MAIWP give her condoms instead.
Note that MAIWP has a responsibility to distribute zakat, which in accordance to Islam, is a compulsory form of charitable giving in Islam, considered one of the five pillars of the faith. But the lady has her supporters too.
'What right do you have to insult her for having children? The children are also the provision of Allah SWT. She did not speak for herself but for the Asnaf group. Asnaf are the parties that are eligible to receive Zakat assistance collected from Muslims,' said @YuraDaisy9.
Also, @anwarrahindi said people, no matter which category they are from, have the right to speak up. 'If they keep quiet, there will be no improvement,' he continued.
Another netizen said it was appropriate that matters should be made easy for the Asnaf community. However the lady may have been a little rough when speaking.
Netizen @Bluee5626747921 further pointed out that children are indeed given by god, but parents must never forget that they too have a responsibility towards their children. —June 8, 2025

Embassy hosts Aidiladha celebration for Malaysians in Bangkok

- Photo: Malaysian Embassy in Thailand BANGKOK: (Bernama) The Embassy of Malaysia in Thailand hosted a gathering for Malaysians abroad and local guests on Saturday (June 6) to mark this year's Hari Raya Aidiladha. Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of Malaysia to Thailand, Bong Yik Jui, said while Aidiladha signified the values of sacrifice, devotion, and unity among Muslims worldwide, it also solemnly reflected to the duty and dedication carried out by the mission, in upholding Malaysia's interests overseas. The embassy also welcomed a visiting delegation from the Royal Military College (RMC), comprising 32 Putera cadets and five officers at the celebration. The delegation, led by its Commandant, Brig Gen Shaiful Azuar Ariffin, is currently in Bangkok for a one-week student exchange programme with Thailand's Armed Forces Academies Preparatory School (AFAPS). Bong noted that the visit offered RMC students a unique opportunity to experience Hari Raya celebration away from their families and friends. "The celebration served not only as a religious gathering but also as a meaningful occasion to strengthen the bonds among Malaysians in Thailand,' he added. - Bernama
