BJP minority cell to publicise Operation Sindoor; reach out to Muslims

The Hindu18 hours ago

'The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) minority cell will hold outreach meetings outside religious sites such as dargahs, mosques, madrasas, churches and gurdwaras across the State to publicise the success of Operation Sindoor and welfare schemes for minorities,' a party leader said on Tuesday (June 10, 2025.)
'The party will launch the campaign from tomorrow with distribution of pocket-sized copies of the Constitution to raise awareness among minorities about their rights and duties,' Uttar Pradesh BJP minority cell president Kunwar Basit Ali told PTI.
'Also, conventions under the banner 'Alpsankhyakon ka Paigam, Modi ke Saath Musalman' will be held across all major cities in the State to mark 11 years of the Narendra Modi government,' he said. The first such event will take place on June 12 at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Convention Centre in Lucknow.
Mr. Ali said the cell will also conduct a programme, 'Desh ka Paigam, Pratibha ko Samman,' to felicitate madrasa students who have excelled academically.
The party will also felicitate relatives of those who died in the line of duty. "It is a significant step towards building trust-based politics with minorities," he said. The party is slated to organise yoga events in 403 madrasas of Uttar Pradesh on International Yoga Day (June 21).
Mr. Ali also drew a contrast between former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's remark "Muslims have the first claim on resources" and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's view that "the poor have the first right on the country's resources." He said the Sachar Committee had exposed the dire socio-economic condition of Muslims, which remained unaddressed under previous governments.
"Despite immense poverty in the Muslim community, Prime Minister Modi has ensured the benefits of his welfare schemes reach them. Muslims constitute about 20% of the population, but they account for nearly 40% of the beneficiaries of government welfare programmes," Mr. Ali said.

Modi govt has given Maha 10 times more than UPA: CM

Mumbai: Maharashtra benefited greatly in the 10 years of the Modi-led NDA govt than under the 10 years of UPA, CM Devendra Fadnavis said. Addressing a press conference on Tuesday in the city as the Modi govt completed one year of its third term in office, Fadnavis said Maharashtra received Rs 1.23 lakh crore from the UPA govt in 10 years, while the Modi govt gave Rs 10.5 lakh crore, which was ten times over. "With the cooperation of the Modi govt, infrastructure projects worth Rs 6 lakh crore are ongoing in the state. Railway projects worth Rs 1.75 lakh crore are underway in the state. The Modi govt provided more funds for railways in one year than the UPA did in 10 years," he said, adding 30 lakh new houses have been approved for rural Maharashtra under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin). "The first list of 20 lakh homes will be completed this year, and the Centre has suggested we prepare a new list of beneficiaries. This work will begin soon," he said. Listing out schemes implemented in the last decade, Fadnavis said direct benefits worth Rs 42 lakh crore have been provided so far, which include 81 crore people receiving free food since the pandemic, construction of 12 crore toilets, loans worth Rs 14,700 crore disbursed under the Mudra Yojana and Standup India and 55 crore new Jan Dhan accounts that were opened. He said 51 crore people benefited from the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, and 77 crore accounts were registered under Ayushman Bharat. Pointing to the inclusive face of the Modi govt, Fadnavis said 60% ministers belong to Scheduled Castes and Tribes. He stated 45% beneficiaries in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, 58% of various scholarships, and 51% in the Mudra Yojana are SC and ST. "Direct benefits to the underprivileged have lifted 25 crore people above the poverty line," he said. Comparing benefits obtained under UPA and NDA govts, Fadnavis said that in 10 years, the agricultural sector has grown fivefold. "Under the PM Kisan Yojana, Rs 3.7 lakh crore have been transferred to accounts of 11 crore farmers. The UPA govt announced a loan waiver of Rs 80,000 crore, the Modi govt provided Rs 3.7 lakh crore," he said. Women too have greatly benefitted with 3 crore 'lakhpati didis' across the country, 90 lakh self-help groups engaging 10 crore women, and paid maternity leave up from 12 weeks to 26 weeks, he said.

UP: Party worker slaps SSP chief Mahendra Rajbhar multiple times during public event

Yadav uses the abbreviation PDA for 'pichde' (backward classes), Dalits, and 'alpsankhyak' (minorities). After a video of the assault went viral on social media, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav condemned the incident as 'another example of atrocities and insult' on PDA, alleging the BJP's complicity in it. Jaunpur (UP), Jun 10 (PTI) A party worker reportedly slapped Mahendra Rajbhar, national president of the Suheldev Swabhiman Party (SSP), repeatedly soon after garlanding the latter on stage during a public gathering in Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur district. The incident took place at Ashapur village under the Jalalpur police station limits during a function held on the occasion of Maharaja Suheldev's victory day. The event was organised to perform 'bhoomi pujan' for installing a statue of the revered Rajbhar icon in the Rajbhar-dominated Zafarabad Assembly constituency. Mahendra Rajbhar, a native of Mau district, was the chief guest at the event. To the audience's shock, Brijesh Rajbhar, a party worker, first garlanded Mahendra Rajbhar and then slapped him multiple times in full public view, causing chaos at the event. Following the assault, Mahendra Rajbhar accused Uttar Pradesh Cabinet minister and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) president Om Prakash Rajbhar of orchestrating the attack. However, no statement has yet been issued by Om Prakash Rajbhar or the SBSP in response to the acquisition. After the incident, Mahendra Rajbhar left the venue and filed a complaint at the Jalalpur police station, naming Brijesh Rajbhar. Speaking to reporters, he claimed that Brijesh Rajbhar met Om Prakash Rajbhar four to five days before the event and that the attack was planned under the latter's direction. 'Brijesh was once a worker in my party, but he currently holds no official position. I don't know how or why he came to the event or who invited him. There is no internal dispute in the party or any financial disagreement,' Mahendra Rajbhar said, adding that though many people were present at the event, Brijesh Rajbhar was the one who attacked him. Confirming that Mahendra Rajbhar has lodged a complaint, Jalalpur SHO Triveni Singh said the viral video of the incident was under review as part of the investigation. Reacting to the incident, Akhilesh Yadav alleged BJP's complicity in the attack, which he termed another example of growing atrocities on PDA. 'The violent attack on senior leader Mahendra Rajbhar is yet another condemnable example of the growing insults and atrocities faced by the PDA society under BJP rule,' Yadav posted in Hindi on X. 'If the BJP thinks it can sustain its divisive politics by breaking communities from within, it is gravely mistaken. If the BJP is not complicit in this attack, the assailant must be immediately arrested and punished for his actions,' Yadav said. 'Violence is a manifestation of desperation. The BJP should remember that such acts will not demoralise the PDA but strengthen its resolve further. Long live the Constitution, long live the PDA,' he added. Mahendra Rajbhar was previously associated with the SBSP and served as its national vice-president before parting ways ahead of the 2022 Assembly elections to form his own party. He had accused Om Prakash Rajbhar of deviating from the party's mission and prioritising personal financial gains. In the current Uttar Pradesh Assembly, SBSP's Jagdish Narayan Rai represents Zafarabad. He won the 2022 election as part of an alliance with the Samajwadi Party. ‘More AC trains in Mumbai without increase in fares'

Mumbai: More AC trains will be introduced on Mumbai's suburban railway network without increasing fares, said CM Devendra Fadnavis in the aftermath of the CR accident in Mumbra. At a presser on Tuesday, Fadnavis said he had a 45-minute interaction with Union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on the need to further improve the suburban train system. Admitting there is a load on the suburban network, Fadnavis said, "This is going to be there till all metro lines are completed." He said in 11 years, the Modi govt has invested in a big way in railway infrastructure, whether it is passenger amenities, new signalling systems, widening of platforms or laying railway lines. However, it is true that during peak hours, carrying capacity is inadequate and needs to be further strengthened, he said. "Our railway minister has said existing trains will be retrofitted so doors close, as such instances are more because doors do not close. Yesterday's accident was unfortunate. The railway minister told me additional trains will be introduced on suburban routes with more AC trains. If automatic doors are installed (in non-AC trains), govt will take care of ventilation. AC trains will be introduced without increasing fares," he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Consigue audifonos de alta calidad sin gastar ni un solo centavo Top Audifonos Undo On BMC elections Fadnavis said, "Who will form an alliance with whom, one cannot tell now. One thing is clear: Mumbaikars will stand with Mahayuti, and it will win BMC elections. Mumbai's mayor will be from Mahayuti." On BEST The CM said, "Under no circumstances will BEST be shut. We will strengthen it. BEST has placed an order for 5,000 new buses. Once these are delivered, BEST will function more efficiently. We have drafted the UMTA (Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority) law, whereby we will bring all public transport under one umbrella. Today we launched the common card, and the trial is on, which is successful. If BEST is not strengthened, neither the metros nor suburban railway can work efficiently. " On ending Naxalism "Highly effective work has been done under the Modi govt on ending the Naxal movement. Union home minister Amit Shah has promised to end Naxalism by March 2026. Active Naxalism will be ended. In 10 years, good work has been done in Maharashtra against Naxals and Maoists, but five years of Congress govt in Chhattisgarh led to an increase in Naxal recruits. Since BJP govt was formed in Chhattisgarh, both govts are working jointly against Naxalism," he said. On Dharavi Fadnavis said the people of Dharavi support the redevelopment project and have even taken out a morcha in support of the project. "Merely because four Congress leaders take out a morcha does not mean people are opposed to it. This is the country's biggest urban transformation project. All eligible residents will get a house in Dharavi, and all eligible business establishments will be rehabilitated in Dharavi. Those ineligible will also get housing. No one will be left out. In fact, 8-10 lakh people will get housing. It is the world's biggest urban transformation project. Some do not want the poor to be pulled out of poverty. Congress has been doing this kind of politics," he said. TNN
