HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — After a disappointing ninth inning for the Atlanta Braves, sources tell The Athletic that Huntsville native and MLB All-Star Craig Kimbrel is being recalled to the team.

Additionally, a social media post made by Ken Rosenthal said a source also told The Athletic that the Braves are summoning Craig Kimbrel from Triple-A.
Kimbrel, a Lee High School alum, struggled for the Orioles in his 15th major league season. He was designated for assignment after he unraveled on the mound in September 2024, giving up six runs against the San Francisco Giants.
After the 2024 season with Baltimore, Kimbrel signed a Minor League deal with the Braves in March.
Originally drafted by Atlanta in the third round of the 2008 MLB Draft, he made his big league debut in 2010. Kimbrel played in Atlanta from 2010-2014, where he recorded 186 saves and became the Braves' all-time saves leader, a record he still holds.

Kimbrel's resume includes a World Series Championship in 2018 with the Red Sox and twice being named NL Reliever of the Year in 2014 and 2017. He was the 2011 NL Rookie of the Year. He is an eight-time all-star and led the NL in saves from 2011-2014.
