Nearly half of Magic Kingdom's attractions shut down Monday night, reports say

Yahoo11-02-2025
The same night that the Philadelphia Eagles were celebrating their Super Bowl win at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, nearly all the rides shut down at the park, according to reports by local outlets WKMG News 6 and WOFL.
There were also some social media posts about the issue.
"My brother is at Disney World right now & everything just stopped," @MelissaElrod20 wrote in the post on X. "People are stuck in rides everywhere [and] all the lights inside the rides are on. He said it's pandemonium in the streets at the Magic Kingdom."
"This is crazy," wrote a Reddit user in the Walt Disney World subreddit. "Several ride queues emptied out in front of me. [I] go to the next ride, and it's being emptied."
Hours before the park was set to close at 10 p.m. local time, the My Disney Experience app listed 18 out of the park's 40 attractions as "temporarily closed," reported local news outlet News 6. Guests use the My Disney Experience app to view the wait times of rides and the app also shows which rides are out of service.
At 8 p.m. on Monday, only five rides were available to ride, according to News 6.
Attractions guests were able to ride included the following, according to the news outlet:
The Haunted Mansion in Liberty Square
Jungle Cruise in Adventureland
Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover in Tomorrow Land
Tron Lightcycle / Run in Tomorrowland
As of Tuesday morning, at 8:45 a.m. ET, some of the rides that were listed as "temporarily unavailable" on Monday have wait times and seem to be available on the My Disney Experience app. Rides without wait times listed on the rides will not open until 9 a.m. ET.
USA TODAY has reached out to Walt Disney World for comment.
Although there were claims online that the shutdown was due to a power outage, what actually caused the park's attractions to be shut down remains unclear.
While the rides shut down before the park closed, Magic Kingdom was scheduled to host a "Disney After Hours" ticketed event, according to Walt Disney World's website.
The event allows guests who purchased a separate ticket, priced from $175 to $185 plus tax, to stay from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., after the park closes for regular ticket or annual pass holders.
However, by 10 p.m., the time the event was set to start, only three rides were shut down, reported WOFL.
On the list were the following:
Space Mountain in Tomorrowland
Tiana's Bayou Adventure in Frontierland
"It's a Small World" in Fantasyland
It is unclear if the event was affected by the ride closures.
On Monday, the Philadelphia Eagles, the winners of the big game that happened the night before, also made the traditional visit to the Magic Kingdom.
In a video posted to Walt Disney World's Instagram, Jalen Hurts, the Eagle's quarterback, can be seen on a parade float with Mickey and Minnie Mouse driving down Main Street USA.
It is not known if the Philadelphia Eagles were affected by the ride shutdown.
As of Tuesday, at 8:45 a.m. ET, the only rides that were listed on the theme park app as unavailable were previously closed for refurbishment before Monday night's shutdown.
The rides "closed for refurbishment" are:
Astro Orbitor in Tomorrowland
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Frontierland
The Hall of Presidents in Liberty Square

Taylor Swift reveals the insane question that left Travis Kelce speechless on their first date

Taylor Swift didn't sugarcoat a thing while discussing her first date with Travis Kelce that took place sometime after the Chiefs tight end attended an Eras Tour show in Kansas City in the summer of 2023. During her world-consuming appearance on the 'New Heights' podcast Wednesday, Swift recalled not knowing anything about football — and asking Kelce 'the most insane question' about playing in the Super Bowl against his brother, former Eagles center Jason Kelce, who retired in March 2024. 'I knew he wasn't crazy the first couple of times we talked… He's like a human exclamation point,' Swift, 35, said. 'I use so many more exclamation points now. And you aren't judgmental that I knew nothing about the world you're in. Taylor Swift recalled her and Travis Kelce's first date during her appearance on the New Heights podcast on August 13, 2025. YouTube/New Heights 'On our first date, I legitimately asked him what it was like when the Chiefs played the Eagles in the Super Bowl, and he looked across the line of scrimmage and saw his brother standing five feet away from him.' Travis was speechless because that wasn't possible, as the brothers played offensive positions and wouldn't be on the field at the same time. 'He didn't even look at me,' Swift said, laughing. 'I now know what an insane question that was… I thought everyone was out there at the same time… I didn't know what a first down was… what a tight end was… I fell in love with it, I became obsessed with it.' Taylor Swift recalled her and Travis Kelce's first date during her appearance on the New Heights podcast on August 13, 2025. YouTube/New Heights Kelce and Swift went public with their relationship in October 2023, when they were spotted holding hands in New York City. In an interview with Time magazine that December, Swift said they were a couple when she attended the Sept. 24 game against the Bears at Arrowhead Stadium — and 'we walked right in' through the general admission entrance. 'I love this new world that Travis has shown me,' Swift said. 'It's so fun, it's so exciting, there is so much pressure on these players … the pressure on sports is such a different type that I have such respect for everyone, everyone on his team.' Kelce repeatedly said on the podcast that he's the luckiest guy in the world. 'I've been so lucky because I never got to see what the suite was when I played,' said Kelce, to which Swift quipped, 'Because there was never a camera on it.' As for her relationship with sports, pre-Kelce: 'I grew up in [Pennsylvania], I always used to hear my dad yelling at the screen watching Eagles games,' Swift said. 'I would go to sporting events so that I could sing the national anthem. Everything was a means to an end to get me to do music. 'But I definitely became obsessed with sports because of [Travis]. I'm competitive on his behalf.' Earlier on the show, Swift said that 'New Heights' podcast 'got me a boyfriend because Travis decided to use it as his personal dating app two years ago.'

Taylor Swift explains how 'Cupid' Andy Reid vouched for Travis Kelce

Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid has, on occasion, taken credit for helping set up Travis Kelce in his relationship with Taylor Swift. Does Reid's story of being a legendary wingman carry much weight? "Whatever Andy Reid says, we're gonna stand by," Swift said on the "New Heights" podcast Wednesday. "He said it, that's what happened." "'Cupid,' 'Big Red.' It's all the same," Kelce added. Reid's role as a wingman came after Kelce's plea to Swift on the "New Heights" podcast, which Swift referred to as "the shooting your shot heard 'round the world." After that, Swift outlined she heard from "a lot of people" who liked Kelce enough to vouch for him. That included Reid, who had a long-term friendship with Swift's family, via her father Scott. "There were a lot of kind of people whispering in my ear about you," Swift said to Kelce on the podcast. "And like, actually, that's not normal. There are people willing to just go to bat for you, and be like, 'You don't understand. This guy is incredible.'" Ultimately, Reid's endorsement mattered, and Swift and Kelce eventually went on a date. They remain together nearly two years after they were first romantically linked. As such, both believe the three-time Super Bowl winner deserves a thank you for helping them get together. "Thank you Andy, for everything," Swift said.
