
Swachh Survekshan: Kanpur ranks 13, gets Water Plus cert

In another achievemnt, the city grabbed the third position among 88 cities under the Ganga Town special category.
Acording to the govt release on Thursday, Kanpur has also been awarded the Water Plus certificate in the ODF category and fifth place in Garbage Free City category in the survey.
According to the data collected under the Cleanliness Survey-2024-25, the door-to-door collection was 96 per cent, sorting of garbage 79 per cent, 100 per cent marks in garbage generation and its processing and 95 percent points in development of the dumping site.
The city also earned 100 per cent points in cleaning of residential, market areas and water corporations and secured 87 per cent marks in cleaning public urinls. Municipal commissioner Sudhir Kumar commented that Kanpur municipal corporation had pledged for continuous development in cleanliness of the city with the target of 'Healthy Kanpur and Clean Kanpur.' All the efforts will be focussed on achieving this target and further improvement in the cleanliness, he added.
Mayor Pramila Pandey expressed happiness over the city's ranking and said that more efforts were needed to achieve the top spot in the Swachh Survekshan. The KMC would make serious efforts in this direction, she added.
In 3 to 10 lakhs City category Mirabhayadar, Bilaspur and Jamshedput ranked first, second and third place respectively.
Uttar Pradesh's cities performed impressively in the overall Swachh Survekshan 2024-25 rankings. Among the Million Plus Cities category, Lucknow Municipal Corporation secured the third place nationally with a score of 12,001. Agra stood at 10th place with 11,532 points, Ghaziabad at 11th slot with 11,514 points and Prayagraj at 12th with a commendable total score of 11,292.

LMC spl drive to keep city clean on I-Day
Lucknow: Lucknow Municipal Corporation is conducting a special cleanliness and decoration drive across all 110 wards and eight zones ahead of Independence Day and Janmashtami festival. Zonal officers, sanitary staff and supervisors have been assigned ward-specific duties, focusing on road and market cleaning, drain maintenance, garbage collection and waste disposal. LMC teams will visit homes to promote cleanliness and encourage residents to hoist national flag as part of Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. Dhankeri model CLF bags 3rd spot in ‘Aatmanirbhar Org Award 2024'
Ranchi: Dhankeri model cluster level federation (CLF) from Itkhori block in Chatra secured third spot at national level in the 'Aatmanirbhar Organisation Award-2024', organised by the Union Ministry of Rural Development. The award will be presented by Union rural development minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in New Delhi on Thursday. The awardees have been invited to attend the Independence Day event at the Red Fort on Friday. Established in 2018, Dhankeri model CLF has brought together around 3,100 rural women through 246 self-help groups. With a corpus fund of Rs 3.04 crore and net earnings of over Rs 57 lakh to date, the CLF emerged as a self-sustaining community-based enterprise. The recognition comes in the category of organisations functioning for over five years. Notably, 1,695 members became 'Lakhpati Didis', women earning over Rs 1 lakh annually through agriculture, livestock rearing, entrepreneurship, and other livelihood activities. OSSC CRE PET exam schedule 2025 released; to be held in September
The Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) has released the exam schedule of the Combined Recruitment Examination for different posts having Physical Measurement and Physical Efficiency Test-2024 (Advt No.-4579/OSSC). As per the notification, the exam is scheduled to be conducted from September 8 to 12 in two shifts: 9.00 am to 12.00 noon and 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm. There shall be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. The admit cards will be released at on September 1, 2025. The Commission aims to fill 31 vacancies of which, 21 vacancies are for Sub Inspector of Traffic (Group B) and 10 for Sub Inspector of Excise (Group C).
