Rick and Morty writer bringing 'chaos energy' for Netflix show fans can't wait to fall in love with
One of the writers from hit show Rick and Morty is bringing 'chaos energy' to Netflix in a new animated series fans already can't wait to fall in love with.
Haunted Hotel is set to be streaming from September 19. Audiences are already anticipating spooky season beginning early as a result.
According to the synopsis released by the streaming giant, the series will follow a single mother of two who struggles to run a haunted hotel. All she has to help her is estranged brother, who is now one of the ghosts haunting the establishment and thinks the other ghosts have some pretty good ideas.
As seen in the trailer, not only does she juggle a son, daughter and a host of ghosts, there's also a demon trapped inside the body of a boy from the 1700s.
There are also various types of spirits, ghosts and devil like creatures. One even sounds just like the voice of Seth Rogen.
Meanwhile, the main voice cast for Haunted Hotel includes Saturday Night Live alum and The Four Seasons star Will Forte. He's joined by Scrubs' Eliza Coupe, one of the stars of new Superman movie Skyler Gisondo, comedian Natalie Palamides, and Jimmi Simpson who many will recognise from Westworld and as one of the McPoyle brothers in It's Always Sunny in Philadelpihia.
Haunted Hotel is created by Matt Roller, who has previously written for shows including Rick and Morty, Community and Archer. He has also worked on sitcoms Mr. Mayor and The Goldbergs.
Celebrating the series order at Netflix, he said: "I'm thrilled to be working with Netflix and an amazingly talented cast and crew to bring to life the stories of the dead, the evil, and the struggling hospitality workers at the Undervale Hotel,'
Fans are already looking forward to the new show. While it is not yet confirmed how many episodes will consist of its debut season, it's already looking like a must binge title.
One person, replying to the trailer on social media, commented: "Rick and Morty's chaotic energy but make it haunted? Yeah… I'm checking in!"
Another added: "t's giving me Scooby doo vibe!" Sharing a similar sentiment one person posted: "Rick and Morty meets Scooby-Doo energy, but way more unhinged."
While one person, seemingly excited for Halloween already said: "Spooky comedy just what we need to ease into fall. Will Forte + Rick and Morty creators = yes please"
There were some who spoke with a word of caution. It comes after a year of even more cancellations confirmed at the streamer during 2025. That included many that were only given one season despite reaching millions of views.
Shows such as The Residence, Pulse and Territory all came to a premature end. Fans are already fearful Haunted Hotel will be added to the list.
One person posted: "I can't wait to fall in love with this show, only to be heartbroken when Netflix inevitably cancels it."
Another agreed: "Can't wait to love this show then feel depressed when it's cancelled on a depressing cliffhanger."

One Night cast, release date and plot as Jodie Whittaker drama lands on ITV
Six-part Australian drama One Night is coming to ITV this month, and here's everything you need to know... A new six-part TV drama is due to land on ITV 1, starring Doctor Who favourite Jodie Whittaker and Netflix star Yael Stone. One Night, originally released in 2023, is an Australian drama following three friends whose lives have been changed by a traumatic event. Written and created by Emily Ballou, the show was made by Easy Tiger Productions and Motive Pictures for Paramount+. Filming took place in Sydney and the Illawara region of New South Wales throughout 2023. As we get set to spend our Saturday nights watching One Night, here we've rounded up everything you need to know, including the full cast, how to watch and the plot. What is One Night about? One Night focuses on the story of three women, Tess, Simone and Hat, whose bond was nearly destroyed by the traumatic events of one night two decades ago. The description continues: "Since then, Simone has harboured secret hopes of becoming a novelist but most of her haphazard attempts have been shoved into her bottom drawer. Now, at the age of 40, she has finally written the one story she could never get out of her mind, and her debut manuscript has become an unexpected overnight success. "But it soon becomes apparent that the devastating story the book tells doesn't exclusively belong to her. At the heart of Simone's novel is a tragedy which also happened to Tess and Hat, her two childhood best friends. "As it becomes harder to prise fact from fiction, one person's memory and story from another's, the book threatens to derail all their friendships, bringing old traumas to the surface of the small coastal community where they grew up, and stirring its perpetrators, who want to make it all go away." Full cast One Night's cast is led by Jodie Whittaker, who takes on the role of Tess. She is joined by Nicole da Silva, playing Simone, while Yael Stone portrays Hat. Actresses Mikaela Binns-Rorke, Bridgette Armstrong and Bella Ridgway play young versions of Tess, Simone and Hat respectively. Elsewhere, George Mason portrays Joey, with David Howell playing young Joey, Erroll Shand is Trevor along with Shane Osborne playing young Trevor, and Damien Strouthos takes on the role of Mark, with Alan Dalziel cast as the younger edition of the character. Kat Stewart plays the role of Tess with Tina Bursill playing Helen, while William Zappa is Don, Noni Hazlehurst is Mary and Jillian Nguyen plays Eden. Making up the remainder of the cast is Harper Simon, Jude Hyland, Fiona Press, Wadih Dona, Les Hill, Anthony Brandon Wong and Zac Burgess. How to watch One Night was first released in Australia on Paramount+ in September 2023. It then landed on Paramount+ in the UK and Ireland later that same year, but was removed by February 2024. The series has been made available to stream in Australia via Netflix. One Night will begin airing on ITV and ITVX on Saturday, 17 August. The show consists of six one-hour episodes, which will air on ITV1 on a weekly basis. The series will be available to watch on ITVX. One Night beings airing on ITV on Saturday, 17 August at 9.30pm

Love Is Blind star unrecognisable as pictures unearthed before bodybuilding days
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info A star from Love Is Blind is barely recognisable in old snaps taken before his bodybuilding days and reality TV debut. The hit Netflix dating show has returned for a second series following its massive success last year. A fresh batch of hopeful singles are participating in the unique experiment, all hoping to find their soulmate. The premise of the show is that participants form bonds based on emotional connections, only meeting face-to-face once they've decided to get engaged. After going on "dates" in separate pods, the aim is for the participants to find 'the one' without the distraction of physical attraction. The new series has certainly made a splash, with the first four episodes released on Wednesday already delivering relationship drama and love triangles. However, one star looks dramatically different in his old photos. Gym owner Kal, a 32 year old from Wigan, is hoping to find his future wife on the show. Despite having had relationships in the past, none have lasted longer than a year, reports the Mirror. Kal's father is Pakistani and his mother is English, and he comes from a large, close-knit family. Seeing two of his brothers happily married, one with a baby, has motivated him to find a woman with whom he can build a future. On the show, Kal is seen forming a connection with Sarover, who was born into a modern Indian family and has never dated outside of her ethnicity. (Image: Netflix) Despite this, and despite not being Kal's "type", the pair appeared to connect as they began dating in their pods. As a fitness centre proprietor, Kal maintains excellent physical condition and regularly uses his Instagram account to document his own bodily transformations. One previous post features him at a bodybuilding contest, striking poses and displaying his physique in a remarkable makeover. In a separate upload, Kal celebrated his wellness transformation as he compared his current appearance to an even earlier photograph. He wrote: "So glad I started training .... wow." Kal made his Love Is Blind entrance today as the opening four episodes dropped. However, viewers will need to wait until the following week to discover what lies ahead for the gymnasium proprietor.

Richard Osman's Thursday Murder Club sees Harry Potter star in huge role
Netflix is bringing Richard Osman's book, The Thursday Murder Club, to screens with a film adaptation that promises to be a hit. The director is known for his work on Harry Potter. Netflix has gone all out for the film adaptation of Richard Osman's bestselling novel, The Thursday Murder Club – packed with a killer cast and a well-known director behind the camera. Set in the picturesque Coopers Chase retirement village in Kent, the story follows four sharp-minded pensioners who meet weekly to pore over unsolved crimes. But when a real-life murder falls into their laps, they swap coffees and chit chat for sleuthing. Behind the camera is Chris Columbus, the director behind the first two Harry Potter films, Mrs Doubtfire and Home Alone. His time on the Potter franchise gave him a deep affection for Britain and its quirky humour. 'During Potter, I spent five years living in the UK,' he says. 'I grew quite fond of the dark, edgy British humour and I managed to incorporate some of that into those films and much more of it into The Thursday Murder Club .' Finding a writer to adapt Richard Osman 's work was tricky. 'I was a fan of the books, but the initial scripts I read veered far from the novel,' Chris says. 'I felt this was a mistake and I wanted to preserve what everyone loved about the book.' Enter actress and comedian Katy Brand. Chris says, 'When I met with Katy, I was convinced she not only understood what made the novel so popular, but she also had the vision to write a film that was faithful to the source material.' Leading the charge in the line-up is Helen Mirren as Elizabeth Best. Throughout her career, Helen has played everything from steely assassins to Queen Elizabeth II. Now, she's playing a woman with a past shrouded in secrecy. 'We can tell she was someone powerful and substantial, but it's all a bit secret,' Helen says. 'Was she a high level politician? Was she a high level operative in MI5 or MI6? She never quite talks about it, but we get a sense. She's tough, she's smart and she has witnessed some heavy duty things.' Joining her is Pierce Brosnan, best known for donning James Bond 's tuxedos. He trades spying for laughs to play Ron Ritchie. 'Ron is a stout fellow of good character,' Pierce says. 'He doesn't particularly want to be at Coopers Chase, but there's a time in life when you just have to hang up your spurs.' Ron's good friend Ibrahim Arif (Ben Kingsley) is a psychiatrist whose skills prove invaluable to the club's investigations. 'He's clearly empathetic because he's a psychiatrist and he needs to interpret patterns of human behaviour in order to heal,' Ben says. 'Now he can bring those same skills to a forensic quest to solve unsolved police cases through empathy, knowledge of patterns of human behaviour, compassion and imagination.' Elizabeth strikes up a bond with newcomer Joyce Meadowcroft, a recently widowed woman who's determined to fit in. Celia Imrie brings Joyce to life. 'Sir Laurence Olivier always said you've got to like the person you're playing – and I really did,' says Celia. 'Joyce has an innocence about her. She's unsure of herself but fun, enthusiastic and a good sport. At the beginning of the film she wants, very much, to be included and is especially keen to make new friends.' The four pals cross paths with PC Donna De Freitas, played by Naomi Ackie, a police officer they help unofficially – to the irritation of her superior. 'It was a really big pull for me to work with these juggernauts of British screen, who I've looked up to for a long time,' says Naomi. 'Having them consolidated into one project was really great. They are so gracious with their talent and it's been a real joy getting to know them.' The drama isn't confined to the murder mystery. David Tennant joins the mix as Ian Ventham, co-owner of Coopers Chase, whose redevelopment plans could force residents out. 'He's not the most sympathetic character,' David says. 'He's just someone who's got himself in a very particular situation and doesn't have the people skills to get through life with as much charm as one might hope he should have.' The love for the novels also runs deeply within the cast. 'I was one of the many millions who read the book and loved it,' says Helen. 'I was utterly charmed by it. My friends who read the book said, 'If they ever make a movie, you have to play Elizabeth.'' For Pierce, the project was a chance to collaborate with Chris again. 'He's s an old pal,' he says. 'He seems to come around every 10 years or so with wonderful jobs for me. He sent me the script and I loved it.' The Thursday Murder Club is released on Netflix on August 28th.
