Resident dolphins escort flagship ferry 'Manxman' as it enters Peel during Isle of Man cruise
Two resident dolphins on the Isle of Man were seen escorting the island's flagship ferry on its annual island cruise over the weekend.
'Moonlight' and 'Starlight' could be seen swimming and leaping out of the waves from the front of the 'Manxman' as it entered Peel on Saturday evening.
The mother and daughter pairing are regularly spotted on the west coast of the Isle of Man, after first being spotted in September of 2019.
Representative from the 'Manx Whale and Dolphin Watch' group (MWDW) have described the bottlenose dolphins as 'an exceptionally rare example of a solitary pair', who are 'only ever seen on their own'.
'Moonlight' originates from the Moray Firth and travelled to the Isle of Man in 2019, giving birth to Starlight in September the same year.
Both dolphins have recently been spotted in shallow water in Peel, and they are often seen interacting with swimmers and other sea-goers.
The MWDW has asked people not to reach out and touch them, and requested that boats lower their speed if they encounter them.
The Steam Packet Company's flagship vessel was on its 'Round the Island Cruise' on Saturday evening when it was joined by the dolphins.
Passengers left Douglas on the east coast of the island, before taking a tour of the Manx coastline in a four-hour cruise.

Coach service for Manx ferry passengers during Lancashire port works
Passengers disembarking from Isle of Man Steam Packet Company ferries in Lancashire have been warned of changes over the upcoming fortnight as they will be picked up by coach to take them to the maintenance work to an adjustable ramp at the port will see foot passengers transported to and from the Heysham Port Manx ferry firm confirmed the Peel Ports Group, the UK's second largest port operator, was undertaking the maintenance on its number 1 linkspan."We have been informed that this work will only take two weeks," it added. The BBC has contacted Peel Ports for a comment. The change comes after the linkspan was damaged when the Manxman vessel entered the Heysham facility during stormy conditions in August returned to use in April following that period, foot passengers also has to board coaches to travel between the second berth at the port and the terminal. Isle of Man TT: More than 39,000 travel to island by ferry
The number of passengers travelling to the Isle of Man by ferry during the TT period rose 5% on the pervious year, the operator has Isle of Man Steam Packet Company said 39,400 people came to the island on its vessels, the highest number since the centenary of the event in 2007, which attracted 47,000 addition to passenger services by the Manannan and Manxman, the government-owned ferry firm operated its reserve vessel Ben-my-Chree for freight during the director Brian Thomson said it was a "great result" for the firm and the wider island economy. He said the firm had worked "closely with the organisers, teams, marshals and more to help make the event successful" and would continue to do so in year the firm had carried 37,800 passengers during the period, which itself was the highest number since the event's firm previously said a rise in passengers had been enabled by the increased capacity of the Manxman, which stands at 948 passenger, which was 300 more than the previous flagship vessel the Ben-my-Chree could firm's schedule for the event, which this year has ran from 31 May to 7 June, continues until 12 June to return visitors home.
