An English woman has opened up on her experience of organising a new event after moving to Edinburgh and feeling "isolated".
Rosie Maddocks moved to the capital from Manchester two years ago with her partner and says it was a hard experience trying to make new friends.
The 29-year-old became her own clientele and started brainstorming ways to build connections with people. She created Social Appetite - an event that will bring Edinburgh people together through their love of food.
After selling out the first event back in February, Rosie is happy with how the venture is coming together - and has even made friendship connections of her own.
Speaking to Edinburgh Live, she said: "I was really nervous about how the first event was going to go but since it all has started, people have met up outside the events already which is really great.
"It's been really nice seeing a community come together. I have made connections of my own too.
"There was a couple that came to one of the events and we have been for drinks with them, we went on a walk with them yesterday too. It's been really interesting to see it all unfold and I am really happy with it."
Rosie organises regular evenings throughout the capital at different restaurants each month. The ticketed event includes a three course meal picked by the chef and interactive games. The fifth event is set to take place on Tuesday, April 29, at Spanish Tapas Restaurant - Tapa.
Rosie added: "There's been a mix of genders and ages too which is surprising. Considering the first event was in February, I am just hoping to grow it. It is really hard work but it's what I signed up to do."

In a previous interview with Rosie, she said after moving to the capital she found it hard to make friends.
"I moved up here on a whim and moving to a new city made it a really hard experience for me to make friends. I found it hard to put myself out there in different groups and things", she added.
"I began to realise I was quite good at making people feel comfortable and putting them at ease. I have never felt fulfilled in jobs I have done - I used to work for Deliveroo and I have always been super passionate about trying new food.
"I also really enjoy meeting new people and learning their story, which I think is quite unusual. I couldn't find anywhere that would bring my passions for food and meeting new people together so I was my own clientele really.
"I decided to create the community myself because I completely empathise with people moving to a new city and feeling like you're isolated.
"Edinburgh is quite international, there is people from all over, so I really appreciate how hard it can be to make new friends and meet new people."

Gemma Atkinson hasn't married Strictly's Gorka Marquez for heartbreaking reason

Gemma Atkinson has previously spoken about why she and fiance Gorka Marquez haven't tied the knot, with one reason being her late father David won't be there Gemma Atkinson has candidly revealed why she's yet to tie the knot with her Spanish fiancé, Strictly professional dancer Gorka Marquez, despite sharing two children together, Mia and Thiago. ‌ In a heartfelt open letter penned for Father's Day, she addressed her beloved late father David, who sadly passed away from a heart attack aged 52 when Gemma was just 17. As she commemorated her 24th Father's Day without the man she cherishes 'every day', Gemma, supporting palliative care and bereavement charity Sue Ryder, confessed that the prospect of walking down the aisle without him feels unbearable - his absence being a key factor in delaying her wedding. ‌ She revealed: "I'm getting married, Dad! One day, anyway. I think one of the reasons we've not done it yet is because of you. We've come close many times, but something stops me. I'm now the last Atkinson in the family line and if I give up my name, there's no more of us. I don't want to lose that remaining tie to you. ‌ "Not having you walk me down the aisle... maybe I'll just stay engaged for a bit longer." Speaking about her future husband, Gemma poignantly expressed that she believes her late father would have been a huge fan of him and their two lovely children - kids who, she sadly reflects, he will never get to meet. ‌ "I think you'd be really happy with my choice of fiancé," she said. "You'd get such a kick out of Gorka being a professional dancer – you loved to dance – and I know you'd adore your grandchildren. Just like you adored me.", reports Devon Live. She continued: "I wish you'd got to meet him. There have been many times where he would have benefitted from your advice. You travelled so much for work and Gorka needs to be away a lot too. "I remember when Mia was born, he had to leave for a tour when she was three days old. It broke his heart but I know you'd have helped him. I can hear your voice, saying, "I get it pal, I had to do the same. You'll get through it. ‌ "I often feel sad that he never got to shake your hand. You only ever met my high school boyfriend. That's hard for me." The former Strictly star and radio presenter confesses she makes sure her father's memory stays very much alive within her little family. ‌ She revealed: "I talk to Thiago and Mia about you all the time. They call you GanGan David. We've got a picture of you in the house and Mia thinks GanGan David lives on the moon and you can't get out. She always asks us how we can rescue you. When our dogs died it was devastating, but Mia took comfort in the fact you were looking after them somewhere. I really believe you are." In January, Gorka provided an update on their wedding plans, assuring fans that he and Gemma will tie the knot when little Thiago becomes more independent. He elaborated: "We will do it, it's just not at the moment. We are very good like this, especially with having the kids. Thiago is not independent yet so we don't want to go into the wedding and be carrying him or halfway through the wedding he starts screaming that he only wants mummy, you know? !".

Freakier Friday: Lindsay Lohan ageless as she steals the show at sequel's London premiere

The stars were out in style on Thursday evening at the London premiere of Freakier Friday. Over two decades after the hugely popular first instalment of the film, Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan were back together and ready for another switch-up. The sequel to 2003 Disney classic Freaky Friday hits cinemas on Friday, August 8. This time it has gone bigger and freakier - it includes a four-way switch. Lindsay Lohan, returning as Anna Coleman, swaps bodies with her daughter, while Jamie, who once again plays the part of Tess Coleman, ends up switching with her soon-to-be step-granddaughter. And with fans eager to see the latest offering, the stars of the show gathered in London for the fist sneak peek. Hollywood's finest took to the red carpet in the heart of the English capital's cinema district, Leicester Square. While Jamie went for a striking all red attire, Lindsay matched the purple carpet with her fitted dress. Both looked stunning as they posed for the cameras, while the likes of Chad Michael Murray was also seen strutting his stuff in a casual black suit.

Teen girl and brother who died on family holiday in Spain are named

Ameiya, 13, and Ricardo Junior, 11, sadly lost their lives at sea while the family were on holiday in the Spanish resort of Salou. Two siblings from Birmingham tragically lost their lives at sea while on a family holiday in Spain, their aunt has confirmed. ‌ Ameiya, 13, and her 11 year old brother, Ricardo Junior, from Erdington, sadly drowned during a family trip to Salou. Emergency services were summoned to Llarga beach, near Tarragona, just after 8.45pm on 29 July, according to Catalonia's Civil Protection agency. ‌ The "beautiful" and "bright" siblings received treatment following the tragic incident at sea but unfortunately did not survive. ‌ Their aunt, Kayla Jasvinder Del-Brocco, confirmed that her niece and nephew tragically got into difficulty in the water and were swept away from the beach by strong currents, reports Birmingham Live. "They went out to swim together with their dad as they loved the beach," Kayla said. "Mum said 'don't be long' and took her little one to the bathroom. ‌ "She came back out and couldn't see anyone. That's when the nightmare commenced." Kayla described Ameiya as "athletic, driven, motherly with her siblings, sarcastic and unique". "Ricardo Junior was kind, loving and helpful," she added. "He wanted to be a YouTuber and would do anything for a few quid. He doted on his mum." Holly stated: "During what was meant to be a joyful family holiday in Salou, Spain, Ameiya and Ricardo Junior, lovingly known to their family and friends as Maya and Jubs, heartbreakingly lost their lives in a tragic incident at sea. ‌ "Two beautiful, bright, and deeply loved children, taken far too soon. The pain their family is feeling is unimaginable. This fundraiser has been created to help ease some of the financial burden the family is now facing, covering the costs of bringing Maya and Jubs home to the UK and giving them the dignified farewell they deserve. "We know that no amount of money can make this right. But together, we can help carry some of the weight."
