Two injured after driver runs stop sign
Apr. 7—LIMA — Two drivers were transported to Lima Memorial Health System after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of McClain Road and 11th Street in Shawnee Township.
At 3:26 p.m. Saturday, March 29, E'Jorden Crockett, 21, was traveling south in a 2007 Lincoln MKZ on McClain Road, and Bauselet Augustave, 35, was traveling east in a 2015 Kia Sportage on 11th Street, according to the crash report by Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Augustave's vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the vehicle of Crockett. The vehicle of Crockett went off the left side of McClain Road and hit a metal post and a utility pole.Both vehicles sustained disabling damage, according to the crash report.
Crockett and Augustave were both transported to Lima Memorial Hospital for possible injuries.
Augustave was charged with not stopping at a stop sign, according to the crash report.

A man, accused of driving the wrong way on Interstate 75 and causing a crash, appeared in court Tuesday. Law enforcement tried to deploy stop sticks to disable the vehicle, but they were unsuccessful. Then a passenger that was in the bed of the truck, identified as 49-year-old Thomas Downey, began throwing wood from the bed of the truck. 'We have officers flying past this vehicle while wood is being thrown at them, to get in front and start breaking down and locking down intersections,' Major Jeremy Roy said in a press conference Monday. Collins then, according to law enforcement, began driving east in the westbound lanes of Route 35 before following a ramp the wrong way and driving south on northbound I-75. 'I believe some of these suspects are doing this intentionally to think that we're going to back off and we're just not going to do that anymore,' Roy said. The wrong-way crash happened before law enforcement could stop Collins. Collins is now in jail after entering a 'not guilty' plea in court, facing charges of vehicular assault, obstructing official business and failure to comply with an officer. All while driving without a valid driver's license. Collins appeared in court from jail by video. The judge set his bond at $20,000 without the ability to pay 10% of the bond as bail, meaning he would have to pay the full amount in cash to be released and placed on electronic monitoring as his case moves forward. 2 charged in multi-city chase that ended in wrong-way crash on I-75
Jun. 10—Two people are facing charges in a pursuit that ended in a wrong-way crash with multiple injuries on Interstate 75 in Moraine has been charged. James Collins, 46, and Thomas Downey, 49, are facing one count each of failure to comply, vehicular assault and obstructing official business in Montgomery County Municipal Court Western Division. Collins pleaded not guilty to charges on Monday. His bond was set at $20,000. Downey has not had his initial hearing as of Tuesday. A warrant for his arrest was issued on Friday. On Thursday, Collins was driving a GMC Sierra with no visible registration when a Perry Twp. police officer initiated a traffic stop at Wolf Creek Pike and Diamond Mill Road, according to court records. Downey was riding in the truck bed. There were two other passengers in the truck, but they are not facing charges as of Tuesday. Collins fled, but an Ohio State Highway Patrol aviation unit was able to follow the truck. During the pursuit, Downey unloaded planks of lumber from the truck bed as law enforcement officers trailed the truck, according to court records. Crews used stop sticks, or tire deflation devices, but Collins managed to regain control of the truck while driving on rims, an affidavit read. Collins drove on the wrong side of the road while on U.S. 35 West and on I-75 North, according to the sheriff's office. Deputies followed with lights and sirens activated to help shut down the highway and stop vehicles heading toward the truck. While on I-75 at Dryden Road, the truck hit another vehicle head-on, causing a six-vehicle crash. All four people fled the truck but were taken into custody and transported to the hospital. Several people from the other vehicles involved in the crash were also injured and taken to the hospital. The sheriff's office did not provide an exact number of injuries and said none of the injuries were life-threatening on Friday afternoon.
