The Paper Trailer Out: The Office Spin-Off Looks ‘Incredible'

News1808-08-2025
The Paper promises a fresh workplace comedy, following a chaotic newspaper crew trying to save their sinking publication.
Peacock has dropped the trailer for The Paper, a new comedy series from The Office creators Greg Daniels and Michael Koman. The show will premiere on September 4, and although it is not set in the world of Dunder Mifflin, it carries the same quirky, mockumentary style with numerous nods to the iconic Steve Carell series.
Instead of a paper company, The Paper follows a struggling local newspaper, The Toledo Truthteller. The story blends workplace chaos, eccentric characters, and sharp humour, just like The Office, but with a fresh setting and new challenges.
A Dying Newspaper in Trouble
In the series, The Toledo Truthteller is on the verge of collapse. Quality journalism has taken a back seat, replaced by sensational clickbait headlines, one editor even boasts about running a story titled: 'You Won't Believe How Much Ben Affleck Tipped His Limo Driver."
The managing editor, Esmeralda, has lost sight of traditional reporting, and readership numbers are plummeting. Just when things seem hopeless, a new editor-in-chief, Ned Sampson (played by Domhnall Gleeson), is hired to turn things around.
Inexperienced Staff, Big Challenges
Ned Sampson quickly realises he has a bigger problem: his seven newly recruited reporters have little to no experience. One hasn't written anything meaningful since junior high, while the other's only writing skill lies in crafting tweets. Despite the lack of qualified staff, Ned has no choice but to work with what he has, given the paper's dire financial state.
The show utilises this mismatched team as the heart of its comedy, exploring how they attempt to revive a struggling newsroom with almost no resources or expertise.
A Familiar Yet Fresh Cast
The cast is a mix of familiar and fresh faces. Domhnall Gleeson leads as Ned Sampson, while The Office fans will spot Oscar Nunez reprising his comedic charm. Other cast members include Chelsea Frei, Sabrina Impacciatore and Alex Edelman.
With The Office becoming a cultural phenomenon thanks to stars like Steve Carell, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer and Rainn Wilson, expectations are high.
From the trailer, it looks like Greg Daniels is ready to bring another funny workplace show; this time about a newspaper instead of a paper company.

Armaan Malik's First Wife Payal Pregnant With Fourth Child, Not Kritika: ‘It's A Miracle'

Armaan Malik's first wife, Payal Malik- not Kritika- is expecting her fourth child with the YouTuber. Armaan said that it is a miracle that she conceived naturally. For weeks, social media conversations have centered on YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT 3 finalist Armaan Malik and his family. Speculations suggested that his second wife, Kritika, was expecting her second child after she was seen holding a pregnancy test kit in her hands in recent photos. However, it is actually Payal, Armaan's first wife, who is pregnant. This will be Armaan and Payal's fourth child together. Payal, already a mother to three children—Chirayu and twins Ayan and Tuba—recently announced in her latest vlog that she is expecting again. This update came after days of confusion caused by Kritika's post, where she was seen holding a pregnancy kit, leading fans to believe she was the one expecting. Payal's revelation clarified the misunderstanding. In her viral vlog, Payal discussed her journey with fertility treatments with Armaan. She shared her struggles with failed IVF attempts, which had left her emotionally exhausted. Despite these setbacks, she described her current pregnancy as a miracle, something she never thought possible. Payal recalled that her son Chirayu was born after years of waiting, and later she pursued more children through IVF. 'Miracle hi hai sach mein. 4 saal baad Chiku hua tha kyuki tube nai thi. Phir maine socha bache hone chahiye. Maine joh bacho ka sukh nai dekha woh maine IVF se karwaya. Ek baar IVF fail hoh gayi. Dusri baar miracle tha. Ek tube mei kaise 15 saal baad mei pregnant hui?" she said. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Payal Malik Fanpage🧿 (@payalmalikk79) Meanwhile, in another vlog, Armaan Malik said, 'Payal ne naturally conceive kiya hai, aur ye ek ajooba hai. Matlab ho hi nahi sakta tha." Armaan Malik's Two Marriages Armaan Malik married Payal in 2011 and later welcomed a son named Chirayu Malik. Six years later, in 2018, Armaan married Payal's best friend, Kritika, without legally ending his first marriage. They also have a son named Zaid. The three grabbed everyone's attention after they participated in Bigg Boss OTT in 2024. While Payal was the first one to get eliminated, Armaan walked out of the show during the finale week. Kritika was one of the finalists on Bigg Boss OTT 3. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive.
