Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Golf Association (SGA) has drawn up specific selection criteria to ensure only the best players will get to represent the State in the Malaysian Games (Sukma) in Selangor next year. State coach Albright Chong said the players will need to play in a minimum of three SGA sanctioned tournaments by January 2026 based on the selection and monitoring process planned by SGA Sukma selection committee. Advertisement According to him, the tournaments available for selection are the 39th Sabah Amateur Open 2025 starting this Thursday (August 14), followed by the 18th Kudat Golf Club Amateur Open (September 12-14), 27th Keningau Golf and Country Club Amateur Open (September 19-21), 44th Sandakan Amateur Open Golf Championship (September 26-28), 32nd Men's & 25th Ladies Labuan Golf Club Amateur Open (November 19-21), 13th Sabah International Junior Masters (December 19-21) and 1st Kinabalu Junior Masters 2026 (Jan 9-11). 'Our scouting has only just started on August 1. The players eligible for selection must be born on or after January 1, 2005 or must be 21-year-old or younger in 2026. 'Those players who are aiming to get selected must submit their tournament report to SGA immediately after each event is completed. 'We will then consider the best events based on strike average and only the top eight men and ladies will be chosen and named on the long list. 'The final list of four men and four ladies will be determined based on their training commitment, playing ability tests, skill tests, fitness tests, discipline and attitude,' he said. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
