Jonathan Anderson steps in as Dior's new creative director following Maria Grazia Chiuri's exit

Time of India6 days ago

Christian Dior has appointed Jonathan Anderson as its new creative director, overseeing women's, men's, and haute couture lines, succeeding Maria Grazia Chiuri. Anderson's debut collection is slated for the Men's Summer 2026 show in Paris. His appointment follows his departure from Loewe, signaling a potential shift in Dior's design direction, blending heritage with contemporary innovation.
In a defining moment for the French fashion landscape, Christian Dior has ushered in a new era of design leadership. After nearly a decade at the creative helm of Dior's womenswear division, Maria Grazia Chiuri has officially stepped down, making room for a fresh perspective.
The House has named Jonathan Anderson as its new creative director, a role that will now span across Dior's women's, men's, and haute couture lines.
The news, which many insiders had been expecting, was confirmed by Dior on Instagram. The announcement featured a poised portrait of Anderson alongside the caption: 'Dior is thrilled to welcome Jonathan Anderson as Creative Director of women's, men's, and haute couture collections of the House.
Jonathan Anderson will present his first collection, Dior Men Summer 2026, in Paris on June 27, 2025.'
For Anderson, the appointment marks a monumental moment in his career and one that aligns with his long-standing admiration for the historic brand. Reflecting on the opportunity, he shared: 'It is a great honour to join the House of Dior as Creative Director of both women's and men's collections. I have always been inspired by the rich history of this House, its depth, and empathy.
I look forward to working alongside its legendary Ateliers to craft the next chapter of this incredible story.
' He also expressed gratitude to LVMH executives Bernard Arnault and Delphine Arnault for their support and belief in his creative journey.
Anderson's first official outing for Dior is slated for the Men's Summer 2026 show, scheduled for June 27 during Paris Fashion Week. The collection is expected to be closely watched, not only as his Dior debut but also as a signal of the direction he intends to take the house in.
Chiuri's departure marks the end of a transformative chapter at Dior. Over her nine-year tenure, she redefined the maison's feminist narrative, spotlighted female creatives, and seamlessly merged contemporary sensibilities with traditional craftsmanship. Her Cruise 2026 show in Rome, an opulent fusion of couture and ready-to-wear, served as her final bow, one that elegantly summarised her legacy.
For fashion watchers, Anderson's elevation to this role was less of a shock and more of an anticipated reveal.
His recent, discreet exit from Loewe, where he spent more than a decade turning the Spanish heritage brand into a powerhouse of modern design, had already sparked speculation. Known for his cerebral yet wearable aesthetic, Anderson has long been a tastemaker with a distinct point of view, a quality Dior appears eager to harness.
With his arrival, all eyes are now on how Dior will evolve. Will Anderson maintain the poetic romanticism that Chiuri championed, or will he usher in a more experimental, sculptural design ethos akin to his work at JW Anderson and Loewe?
Either way, a bold new chapter begins for Dior - one that blends the legacy of Parisian haute couture with the contemporary edge of one of Britain's most inventive fashion minds.

Viral Dubai chocolate gets desi spin. India can't get knafeh of it

Kochi-based Paul And Mike were one of the first to launch their own take Sometimes, a global trend finds its sweetest home far from where it began. Ashmeet Singh Dua didn't think a viral chocolate bar with a pistachio filling from Dubai would define his five-year-old Hyderabad-based dessert brand but the kunafa pistachio chocolate bar he introduced in Sept last year did just that. 'It's become our brand identity. In Hyderabad, people already love kunafa, so this was a hit the moment we launched it,' says the chef and founder of Xocolatl. If you haven't heard of Dubai chocolate, you probably don't have a sweet tooth. Inspired by the traditional Middle Eastern dessert knafeh (also called kunafa), it's become such a craze that global pistachio prices started climbing and every chocolate brand launched its own versions. Indian brands too have put their spin on it. Dua's take on the bar uses imported kataifi pastry for the crunch, house-roasted pistachio paste and a creamy filling. He's got a range of flavours as well: nutella, lotus biscoff, salted caramel. 'We've had celebrities try it and it's our best-selling product even today. Unlike other dessert fads, this one's here to stay,' he says. At Manam Chocolate, the award-winning craft chocolate brand from Hyderabad, the Dubai chocolate bar gets a layered, decadent spin. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Called 'The Kunafa Stack', it brings together their house-made custard, tart bursts of fresh mulberries, pistachio cake crumbs with toasted granola and chopped dates. It's topped with crisp pistachio kataifi and a scoop of house-made gelato, and a final flourish comes with a warm pour of molten Manam chocolate. Ruby Islam, head chef at Manam Chocolate, says The Kunafa Stack was launched during Ramzan this year. 'I always look forward to creating unique experiences. But it's also important to hear what people are asking for. When the Dubai Kunafa chocolate went viral, people started asking us if we had something with crunchy pistachio and milk chocolate.' The brand is opening a New Delhi outlet this month, where this version will be available. Mumbai's French pastry shop Le15 Patisserie has also tapped into the Dubai chocolate trend. Founder Pooja Dhingra, aka the macaron queen, tried the famed bar in Dubai earlier this year and immediately understood the hype. 'It was bold, sweet, crunchy and satisfying. But I knew I wanted to reimagine it through the lens of French pastry. A tart felt like the perfect format,' says Dhingra. Her kunafa chocolate pistachio tart, launched last month, features a buttery chocolate tart shell filled with pistachio cream, toasted kunafa and dark chocolate ganache topped with a pistachio macaron. Dhingra admits that viral trends come with their own set of expectations. 'Trends push you to stay current and experiment, which is fun and keeps the creative energy high. But there is a pressure to constantly be 'new' and sometimes, that can feel more reactive than intentional,' she says. Kochi-based Paul And Mike's bar has a golden kataifi pastry and a pistachio-rich filling. Founder and business head Vikas Temani says openness to global trends isn't just philosophy — it's now an operational reality. 'What virality has done is really compress the product innovation cycle. We wanted to be the first among reputed Indian chocolate brands to launch this, so we did it real quick in terms of R&D and sourcing. That also gave us a window of no competition,' he says. As kataifi pastry is hard to find, home bakers in India have substituted the ingredients with what's locally available. Some have used roasted sevaiya noodles to recreate that signature crunch. Arun Viswanathan of Chitra'm Craft Chocolates in Coimbatore didn't want to replicate the trending Kunafa chocolate. Instead, he used a base of nool peni — a South Indian festive sweet made with fine strands of deep-fried dough, resembling delicate vermicelli, layered with ghee and powdered sugar — and cheekily named his bar Dubai Return, almost saying we've been there and come back with something of our own. The nool peni is layered with pistachio, saffron, rose and a touch of gulkand (rose petal preserve). 'Nool peni has a flaky, crisp texture that reminds me of kunafa. So, I thought, why not reimagine the Dubai bar with it? Our Dubai Return is familiar, yet it surprises you,' says Viswanathan, who did his chocolate training in Belgium. Poetry by Love and Cheesecake, a cafe chain in Delhi, gave the trend a seasonal spin last month with their Chocolate Mango Kunafa Cheesecake. 'We've never done anything like this before,' says chef Amit Sharma. 'But after the Dubai chocolate went viral, people got curious—now we're seeing repeat orders and planning more Kunafa experiments.'

Milwaukee man watched creepy Netflix episode on first date, then killed teen the same way

A Wisconsin man was found guilty on Saturday of killing and dismembering the body of a 19-year-old student on their first date after the two watched a Netflix documentary with an eerily similar theme. 34-year-old Maxwell Anderson killed Sade Carleena Robinson, a criminal justice student, in April 2024 murder after the two met for dinner. They went out to a restaurant and bar before Anderson invited her back to his Milwaukee home. This was the last time she was seen alive. The next day, she did not show up to work at a local pizzeria and was reported missing. The police checked her home and found no trace of her. Police found a leg that matched her DNA, along with other body parts like a foot and human flesh scattered throughout the city. Prosecutors showed bloodied photos recovered from Anderson's phone to prove he was the killer. The images, initially deleted by Anderson, showed him holding one of Robinson's chopped-off breasts. Describing it as 'his trophy', juror Melissa Blascoe told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that the pictures will be in her mind "for quite some time.' The jury was also told that Anderson turned on a Netflix animated series named 'Love, Death & Robots" the night he brought Robinson home. One of the episodes in the series showed a dismembered corpse, which was discovered on the beach. Police also discovered a 'sex dungeon' in Anderson's home with "a sex sling, restraints and handcuffs." The photos found on the phone physically affected people in the courtroom, some of whom were shaking and crying, Blascoe added. Anderson is believed to have spent months planning the murder, even preparing a space lined with plastic sheeting. According to Associated Press, surveillance video shows Anderson driving Robinson's car to a county park near Lake Michigan. It is here that he cut her body into pieces, prosecutors argued, before setting her car on fire and taking a bus back to his apartment. The 15-member jury took 45 minutes to reach a guilty verdict. Anderson has been found guilty of first-degree intentional homicide, mutilating a corpse, hiding a corpse and arson. No motive behind the killing has been revealed yet. Anderson faces a mandatory life sentence on August 15.
