Possible breakthrough in mystery of woman missing for almost a year
Charlene Hobbs, 36, vanished on July 23, 2024, with CCTV last capturing her at a Morrisons Local in Adamstown, Wales.
Since then, her disappearance has been treated as a murder, and an award of £20,000 has been posted for any information leading to the conviction of those responsible.
Now, South Wales Police say Charlene may have been spotted in two different sightings.
On July 29, around 11.20 am, Charlene was spotted on a local bridge linking Adamsdown and Splott, wearing a blue jacket and walking 'single file' with two men.
One of the men was described as white, in his thirties or forties, and of average height. The second was wearing a black face covering.
On November 1, around 5.30 pm at Asda in Coryton, Cardiff, a witness saw Charlene standing by the security desk with a young boy around four years old.
A woman, described as approximately 40 years old with short burgundy dyed hair, approached Charlene and all three left the supermarket, police said.
Detective Chief Inspector Matt Powell, from South Wales Police, said: 'We would appeal to anyone with further information on these two sightings in Adamsdown and Coryton to please come forward. More Trending
'In particular, we are urging the two men on the railway bridge and the woman with the dyed burgundy hair in Asda to come forward.
'Despite a huge number of enquiries, we still have no proof that Charlene is alive, but we remain determined to find Charlene alive and return her to her family.'
The last known sighting is a photograph of Charlene taken in Broadway, Adamsdown, on July 24, 2024.
A 45-year-old man arrested in connection with the investigation remains onbail.

Man who crashed stolen car into wall told witness: 'Don't grass me up'
Man who crashed stolen car into wall told witness: 'Don't grass me up' Kyle Durham, 37, went on to tell the witness: 'Say it was two girls... I'm well-known round here' Kyle Durham, 37, took a Mini Cooper and drove it into a wall while intoxicated causing £22,000 of damage (Image: South Wales Police) An intoxicated man crashed a stolen vehicle into a wall and caused £22,000 worth of driving before telling a witness "Don't grass me up, I'm well-known round here." He later smashed a friend's flat up and took her car without permission, telling her: "You're not having your car back." Kyle Durham, 37, wrote off a Mini Cooper belonging to Rhiannon Williams on May 24 last year in Pontypridd after he had been given the keys by one of her friends. He crashed into a wall belonging to Transport for Wales but left the scene on foot having been witnessed. A sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Tuesday heard at around 3am residents heard a loud bang in Wood Road and the defendant was seen to pull a woman out of the car. For the latest court reports sign up to our crime newsletter. Before he left the scene he spoke to a witness and said: "Please don't snitch on us." Blood was coming from his mouth and he ran off. Shortly later, he returned to pick up the car keys and again spoke to the witness, saying: "Say it was two girls. I've been to prison for 15 years. Don't grass me up. I'm well-known around here." The police were called and Durham was identified on CCTV footage and he was later arrested. Officers called Ms Williams and told her the Mini had been involved in a crash. The car was written off due to front-end damage and there was a hole in a wall, which would cost £22,822 to repair. In a victim personal statement read to the court by Tabitha Walker Ms Williams said: "For six to seven weeks I have been without a car and the insurance company has yet to pay out. "I work as a nurse, mostly agency, so I have to travel... I have only been able to work one shift a week and have had to use public transport. "I have lost around £500 to £600 a week. It's had a negative impact on my wellbeing and I feel I am the only person to suffer from the selfish actions of others." On December 21 last year Durham attended the home of friend Charmaine Thorne and became angry. He punched a door, causing it to fall off its hinges, flipped a coffee table, threw a television set from a wall and ripped wires which caused it to spark, threw a coffee table at a wall, damaged an Xbox, snapped an iPhone, and damaged a lightshade. The victim attempted to get into her car but the defendant told her to get into the passenger seat and he got into the driver's seat. During the journey he confronted another driver and said: "What's your f****** problem?" before driving off. Ms Thorne left the car to get into a shop and told staff Durham had taken her car. At this point the defendant said: "You're not having your car back." He then drove off and left Ms Thorne to get a bus back to her parents' house. Durham, formerly of Yr Hen Fuarth, Treforest, was arrested on December 31 after he was seen hiding near a rugby pitch and was pursued by police on foot. In her victim personal statement Ms Thorne said: "He made me feel really upset. I am too frightened to let anyone inside my property as I don't trust anyone. "I am afraid to leave my house and feel isolated from friends. I am struggling to sleep and believe the whole incident has impacted my mental health. The defendant later pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle-taking, taking a vehicle without consent, driving while disqualified, driving with no insurance, theft of motor vehicle, and criminal damage. The court heard he has 16 previous convictions for offences including theft from the person, aggravated vehicle-taking, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance. In mitigation Andrew Taylor said his client's life has been "blighted" by cocaine and alcohol but he is now free of cocaine. It was said he now has a new partner and has the offer of employment and accommodation from his uncle. Mr Taylor asked the court if an order could be made to prevent the defendant from attending pubs, specifically his father's pub where he has access to free alcohol, but Judge Lucy Crowther said this was not possible. Judge Crowther sentenced Durham to 24 months imprisonment. British tourist collapsed on a beach after being 'spiked and robbed' on holiday
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video A young British tourist is lucky to be alive after he was drugged and robbed by three women in a horrific 'good night, Cindarella' scam. The phrase is Brazilian slang for using drugs to incapacitate someone and then robbing or assaulting them, and in this instance, it caused the young man to drop unconscious on the sands of Ipanema beach in Rio de Janeiro. In the early hours of August 8, the 21-year-old victim, clearly disoriented, staggered along the beachfront before collapsing face-first into the sand. Moments earlier, three women, believed to be the suspects, ran along the street and jumped into a taxi before quickly leaving the area. The victim had been partying with a British friend when they met the three women at a dance bar and kept drinking together. At one point, he was given a caipirinha cocktail, and after drinking it, he lost consciousness. When he woke up, his bank account was drained of £16,000. The two Brits, who declined to give their names, also said their iPhones were stolen by the women. The suspects were later identified as Amanda Couto Deloca, 23, Mayara Ketelyn Americo da Silva, 26, and Raiane Campos de Oliveira, 27. According to investigators, the women are sex workers who target tourists in the city. One of them was previously jailed for six months for the same type of offence. The case is being investigated by the Special Tourism Support Unit, which has urged visitors to be cautious when socialising with strangers and to avoid sharing drinks. One of the victims said of Rio de Janeiro: 'Maybe I'll go back, but for now, that's enough of Brazil. 'I took two sips and I don't remember much of anything else.' He's praised the 19-year-old delivery driver who saw the crime unfolding and began filming while calling emergency services. The Brit added: 'He filmed, called an ambulance, and helped the police track down the suspects. Thank you to him, whoever he is.' More Trending In another terrifying incident abroad, an 85-year-old British pensioner was dragged to the ground during a mugging in Majorca. Footage of the incident shows the thief chasing his victim before pouncing. Police officers were eventually able to identify and locate the thief, who was recognised by the victim. Son Servera council said in a statement on Friday: 'We strongly condemn the unfortunate events that occurred yesterday morning in the centre of Cala Millor, in which a young man robbed and assaulted an elderly person with the objective of stealing his belongings.' Camping teens hit with 'racially targeted' abuse after being mistaken for migrants
Camping teens hit with 'racially targeted' abuse after being mistaken for migrants The Scouts camping group were visiting a Welsh park when they were filmed and targeted by 'offensive' comments The Scout activity park in Newbridge, Caerphilly borough which the teenagers were on their way to when they were mistaken for migrants (Image: Google Maps) A Welsh police force is investigating after a Scout group received racist abuse after being mistaken for migrants. On August 6 a bus travelling from Scotland carrying the Scouts to the CRAI activity park in Newbridge in Caerphilly county borough was targeted by members of the public who mistook them for illegal settlers. After footage, which has since been removed from social media, of the bus was posted to various Facebook groups the video attracted racist comments which got out of control. It emerged police had been seen at the site previously which fed the misinformation but this was actually because Gwent Police carried out dog handling training at the site when Scouts weren't using it. Stay informed on Caerphilly news by signing up to our newsletter here In a statement Gwent Police said it was investigating the posts. Detective Chief Superintendent Jason White said: 'We're aware of several posts responding to a social media video published earlier this week in relation to a visiting Scouts group to Newbridge. 'The video was removed but some of the posts contained inappropriate and offensive language and enquiries into the nature of the posts are ongoing. 'While that work takes place, there are some mistruths circulating on social media which we'd like to correct. 'The group featured in the video were visiting from another part of the country to attend a frequently used Scout camp in Newbridge and many of the people in the video are children. 'The site is not used to house anyone on a permanent basis. The site is used by our dog handlers to train our police dogs when not used for visits and our officers are not guarding the location. 'So with that in mind we're asking everyone to consider the tone and sentiment of their language but also for people to think twice about what they might read online and look for trusted voices within our communities. 'If you do have concerns then you can call us on 101, send us a message on social media, make a report via our website or speak to one of our officers if you see them.' Scout Cymru said it was aware of the incident where teenagers had been targeted. They said: 'CRAI Scout Activity Park is an inclusive and welcoming campsite and activity centre in the South Wales Valleys offering a range of outdoor activities for youth and community groups. Article continues below 'We are aware of a racially aggravated incident targeting under-18s who were leaving after visiting our activity centre and we are working closely with the police to address this situation. 'We are committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of everyone on site and will continue to take immediate and robust action against any behaviour that threatens this.'
