Ponce has two late goals to deliver the Dynamos a 4-3 win over leading San Diego FC
Ethan Barlow gave Ponce a short middle feed to the top of the box and he used his left foot to deliver a roller to the far corner for the win, just the second home loss of the season for San Diego.
Ponce tied the game from the spot in the 87th and then 17 minutes were added at the end of regulation.
Anders Dreyer's shot deflected off the leg of teammate Onni Valakari in the 67th minute to give Western Conference leading San Diego a 3-2 lead. Just four minutes later an offside call negated Ponce's tying goal but Ponce got a second chance on the penalty.
Milan Iloski of Houston (7-9-5) opened the scoring 25 minutes in and Luca Bombino pulled the Dynamo into a 2-2 tie in the 54th minute.
San Diego (12-6-3), which had won four straight, took a 2-1 lead into halftime on goals by Lawrence Ennali and Franco Escobar. Valakari had assists on both goals.
Houston has won two straight after losing three straight and moved from 10th into a four-way tie for eighth in the Western Conference.

Tour de France: Van der Poel holds off Pogačar to win rainy stage 2
BOULOGNE-SUR-MER, France (AP) — Dutch cyclist Mathieu van der Poel won the hilly second stage of the Tour de France on Sunday after holding off defending champion Tadej Pogačar and two-time winner Jonas Vingegaard in a sprint to the line. Van der Poel took the race leader's yellow jersey from his Alpecin–Deceuninck teammate Jasper Philipsen in a second career stage victory on the Tour. Neither rider is considered an overall contender. Stage 2 was delayed by about 15 minutes after team buses arrived late to their parking spots because of heavy morning rain. Fans lined the roads wearing raincoats and riders wore light rain jackets amid wet and blustery conditions on the slightly hilly 209-kilometer (130-mile) trek from Lauwin-Planque to Boulogne-sur-Mer in northern France. The longest trek of this year's race featured about 4 kilometers of climbing suited to allrounders like the three-time Paris-Roubaix classic winner Van der Poel and former Cyclo-cross star Wout van Aert. Greasy roads increased the risk of spills and, after about 45 kilometers, Yevgeniy Fedorov and Andreas Leknessund both fell. They were able to continue as the weather dried out but it stayed windy, leading to a couple more minor crashes. A strong headwind greeted riders approaching the finish as they took on the day's three consecutive climbs — short and sharp but very modest ones compared to the giant Alpine and Pyrenean ascents later in the three-week race. None of the main Tour contenders could launch a decisive attack, although Vingegaard tried with 5 kilometers left. Instead, it was Van der Poel — nicknamed 'The Flying Dutchman' — who surged clear and then withstood Pogačar's late burst, having also beaten the Slovenian star at Paris-Roubaix in April. He crossed the line in 4 hours, 45 minutes, 41 seconds with Pogačar in second place and Vingegaard in third recording the same time. In the overall standings, Pogačar is four seconds behind Van der Poel. Vingegaard is another two seconds back. ___ AP sports:

Mets ace Kodai Senga could rejoin rotation next weekend in Kansas City
NEW YORK (AP) — Mets ace Kodai Senga could rejoin the rotation next weekend in the final series before the All-Star break, a little over a month after straining his right hamstring. Senga allowed four runs — three earned — and six hits in 3 2/3 innings during Saturday's minor league injury rehabilitation start for Double-A Binghamton at Hartford. Senga struck out four, walked two and threw 44 of 68 pitches for strikes. 'Physically he feels fine,' manager Carlos Mendoza said Sunday before the Mets concluded their three-game series against the Yankees. 'So we'll see how today, tomorrow, how they go and hopefully he's making a start for us next time.' Senga was injured covering first base on a grounder by CJ Abrams when he made a leaping catch on Pete Alonso's throw June 12 against Washington. Senga is 7-3 with a 1.47 ERA in 13 starts this season for the Mets, whose starters had a major league-best 2.78 ERA at the time of his injury. The Mets lost 14 of 17 after Senga's injury, then won four straight with a patchwork rotation that included two openers and Justin Hagenman's first big league start. 'He's a big part of this team,' Mendoza said of Senga. 'He's a big part of the rotation. For us to be able to get him back this quickly (is big) because we thought when he went down, in my head I was more like after the All-Star break and then for him to be in play for us now before we go into the All-Star break is huge for us.'
