The Naxalites had attacked and looted a truck containing four tons of explosives from Banka mines in Odisha near the Jharkhand border.Odisha's Director General of Police himself camped in Rourkela for two days to investigate the incident by the Maoists. Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is also investigating the loot.advertisementAccording to a press release by the police, top leaders of the CPI Maoist Naxalite organisation — Misir Besra, Anmol, Mochhu, Anal, Asim Mandal, Ajay Mahato, Sangen Angaria, Ashwin, Pintu Lohra, Chandan Lohra, Amit Dansda alias Upton, Jaykant, and Rapa Munda — are active with their squad members. These Naxalite leaders may carry out destructive incidents in the future.In view of this, the police have intensified the search operation in the area. In this operation, besides the Chaibasa police, jawans from CoBRA, Jharkhand Jaguar, and CRPF are continuously conducting search operations in the forested and hilly areas.Last week, as many as 30 Naxals were killed in an encounter with the security forces in Chhattisgarh. Maoist leader Sri Vidya arrested in Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: Miyapur police arrested Maoist leader Narla Sri Vidya, a senior state committee member of the banned CPI (Maoist) outfit and a member of the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee (DKSZC) and Eastern Division Committee (EDC), from New Hafeezpet in Hyderabad on Thursday. Sri Vidya alias Karuna alias Rupa alias Rupi, who carries a `5 lakh bounty announced by the Telangana government, is a native of Tirumalapuram in Pedda Kothapally mandal of Nagarkurnool district. A BTech graduate from JNTU Hyderabad, she belongs to a family with links to the Maoist movement. Her brother Narla Ravi Sharma was arrested in 2009, while her sister Sridevi was also involved with the Maoists. Her husband T Vasudeva Rao alias Ashanna, a state committee member of DKSZC, is wanted for his alleged role in the assassination of IPS officer Umesh Chandra and the Alipiri blast case.

Three Naxalites killed in gunfight with security forces in Jharkhand
GUMLA: Three Naxalites were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Jharkhand's Gumla district on Saturday morning, police said. Intelligence inputs were received that members of Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP), a splinter group of CPI(Maoist), had gathered at the Ghaghra forest, and were planning an attack on security forces, they said. Acting on this tip-off, the operation was carried out jointly by the Jharkhand Jaguar and Gumla Police, they added. Several rounds of bullets were fired from both sides, police said. An AK-47 and two INSAS rifles were recovered from the spot after the firing stopped, they said. IG (Operations) of Jharkhand Police Michael S Raj told PTI that the operation is still underway.
