BBC sitcom slapped with trigger warning for 'discriminatory language' in ANOTHER woke crackdown
Streaming service, iPlayer, shows a message at the start of the 1975 festive episode that says the show may 'contains discriminatory language.'
The episode prompted a slew of complaints of a homophobic slur as Michael Crawford's character Frank Spencer is called a 'p**f' after dressing up as a pixie.
In the scene, Frank says: 'I'm the chief of the pixies, I'm the friend of all the little boys and girls.'
A boy turns to him and replies: 'Oh no you're not, you're a p**f.'
Frank responds: 'I beg your pardon! Block your ears!'
The warning reads: 'This episode contains discriminatory language which some may find offensive.'
It comes after a Doctor Who spin-off was also slapped with 'discriminatory' trigger warnings, just one month after a 'lost' episode was re-released.
The Savages first aired back in 1966 and starred the first ever Time Lord William Hartnell, but has since been declared as 'missing from the archives' by the broadcaster.
However, an animated remake has recently been released on DVD, albeit with a string of warnings.
The British Board of Film Classification reportedly warned the show contained 'verbal references to discrimination and the discriminatory social structure of an alien society'.
It is listed as PG-rated and episodes carry references to 'mild threats,' 'scary scenes,' discrimination references,' and 'mild violence'.
Last year, Matt Smith, who played the 11th Doctor in the series, shared his dislike for trigger warnings on movies.
The actor said he used to walk into local video shops as a teenager and rent erotic thrillers, like Basic Instinct, to enjoy the scare-factor of the film - but now worries movies and programmes are being dialled down.
Matt claims the point of a 'thriller' or an 'uncomfortable' watch has been taken away through trigger warnings.
He told The Times: 'I worry everything's being dialled and dumbed down. We're telling audiences they're going to be scared before they've watched something.'
The House Of Dragons star added: 'Ah, trigger warnings — the tedious modern idea that adults cannot cope with being upset by art. Isn't being shocked, surprised, stirred the point?
'Too much policing of stories and being afraid to bring them out because a climate is a certain way is a shame. I'm not sure I'm on board with trigger warnings.'
He explained how after starring in family favourite Doctor Who he has actively pursued roles focusing on 'messed-up people' adding that 'that's the f***ing point. We should be telling morally difficult stories, nowadays in particular.'

Gladiators star Zack George, aka TV athlete Steel, has shared how he believes a medical procedure contributed to the death of his newborn son. The BBC star, 35, and wife Samantha George welcomed son Leo earlier this year, who was born 23 weeks premature. Tragically, the infant died 13 days later, as his condition took a grave turn. Described by George as 'one hell of a strong boy,' the issues began when Leo was taken off his ventilator and placed on CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure), a non-invasive way of keeping airways open. It was during this procedure that it is believed accidental damage was done to his windpipe. Later suffering from brain bleeds, a hole in his heart, and collapsing lungs, air pockets also began to form around little Leo's lungs. George told The Mirror: 'Around the tenth day, they started getting a bit bigger. They came to the conclusion that when they tubed him, either the first or the second time, they created a hole in his windpipe. It's no one's fault; a baby that young is really fragile—it's just a risk.' He continued: 'That was really hard, because if it hadn't happened, he would probably still be here. A 23-week-old baby has so much to do. Overnight, he got quite bad; that's when we went in, and he passed away.' With Leo already having been through so much, the parents decided against CPR. On April 8, George shared the sad news in a post to his Instagram account. Posting a picture of himself and Samantha cradling their son, he wrote: 'Your mummy brought you into this world and your daddy held you as you left ♥️ 'Leo…… you showed us what the true definition of strength is and we are so proud of you. 'You brought so much positivity to the world with the short time you were with us and we felt that positivity in abundance, we thank you all so much for that. 'Although you were only with us for a short time, you brought us a lifetime of love. Thank you for letting us know that YOU had had enough of this fight. We will forever be grateful that we didn't have to make that decision for you 💔 'Leo our lion, we love you more than you will ever know. 'Rest easy our little boy 🦁🦁🦁'. Strictly Come Dancing star issues touching tribute 'you sacrificed everything'
Amy Dowden has shared a heartfelt tribute to her father on a momentous day, declaring he 'sacrificed everything' for his family. The Strictly Come Dancing star, who is currently gearing up for her comeback to the dance floor along with two new professionals, turned to social media on Friday (August 8) to honour her dad Richard as he marked his birthday and retirement. The BBC star who has been vocal about her gratitude towards her parents for their unwavering support throughout both her dancing career and her recent breast cancer battle, posted a collection of photographs featuring the duo together. She began with a beautiful image of Richard standing beside her on her wedding day several years ago when she married fellow dancer, Ben Jones. The duo were progressing well in the contest, but Amy sustained an injury, unconnected to her previous health challenges, to her foot and was forced to pull out of the competition, leaving her devastated. Now, with the 2025 series of the BBC One dance competition just around the corner, Amy has been spotted in rehearsals alongside her fellow professional dancers, yet she remains constantly reminded of her previous ordeal. Comedian Jimmy Carr likens Prince Harry to Kanye West, saying 'he occasionally dressed as a Nazi and he f***** up'
British stand-up comic has compared Prince Harry to Kanye West, saying both had 'dressed up' as Nazis and 'f***ed up'. The comedian and TV presenter aimed the jibe at the Duke of Sussex in his solo set, in a new clip widely shared online. Carr, 52, who is no stranger to controversy, was referring to the time Harry - then aged 20, now 40 - wore a Nazi costume to a fancy dress party in 2005. Meanwhile, multiple Grammy-winning rapper West, 48, has shared messages online suggesting pro-Nazis views - though recently insisted he ' renounced' anti-Semitism. West, previously married to reality TV star Kim Kardashian, released a track earlier this year called Heil Hitler (Hooligan Version). The newly shared gag by Carr has been shared on the star's official Instagram account, with 2.5million followers - captioned 'Prince William Vs Prince Harry'. He is seen responding to an audience member asking which of the royal brothers he preferred. Carr responds by saying: 'The royal family - well, if you can imagine, they're like our Kardashians. The Mail told last month of latest developments in a long-running feud between Carr and his estranged 80-year-old father Jim. The TV personality reached out to his father for a favour, only for him to continue the silent treatment once it was granted, a friend of Jim's revealed. The senior Carr was left feeling 'confused and distraught', the friend said, and was left bewildered as to why his son carried on his grudge and not seek a reunion. The pair fell out shortly after Jimmy's mum Nora died in 2001 from pancreatitis at the age of 57. The pair fell out shortly after Jimmy's mum Nora died in 2001 from pancreatitis at the age of 57 Yet a close friend of Irish-born businessman Jim told how Jimmy rang out of the blue nearly eight years ago and asked his father to 'take on a burden' for him. The source revealed: 'It was just before Christmas in 2017 and Jimmy rang his dad to ask him for some help with a problem he had. He had been supporting someone close to him but just couldn't continue doing so. Representatives of Jimmy Carr were approached for comment. Carr has spoken and written in the past about being 'publicly shamed' when his tax arrangements were revealed in 2012. He had been among of thousands of people using a legal off-shore scheme to pay as little as one per cent income tax. Carr was said to have been the largest beneficiary of the K2 accountancy arrangement that reportedly sheltered £168million a year from the taxman. He said in a statement at the time: 'I've been advised the K2 tax scheme is entirely legal, and has been fully disclosed to HMRC. 'I'm no longer involved in it and will in future conduct my financial affairs much more responsibly. Apologies to everyone.' Prince Harry has previously blamed Prince William and Kate for his notorious appearance at the costume party wearing his Nazi uniform in 2005. The Duke of Sussex said in his memoir Spare the other couple thought it was funny. Harry told of considering either the Nazi uniform or a pilot's outfit to wear at a 'Native and Colonial' themed event and called his brother and sister-in-law for their opinion. He wrote: 'I phoned Willy and Kate, asked what they thought. Nazi uniform, they said. 'They both howled. Worse than Willy's leotard outfit! Way more ridiculous! Which, again, was the point.' The Duke of Sussex wore the Nazi uniform at a party thrown by Olympic show jumper Richard Meade. The theme of the event - held to mark the birthday of Mr Meade's son Harry - was 'native and colonial'. Harry wore the desert uniform of General Erwin Rommel's Afrika Korps, having earlier in the evening donned an army-style jacket with a German flag on the arm. Harry had arrived with his brother William, who reportedly dressed in a skin-tight black leotard with a leopard skin pattern and a matching leopard skin tail and paws. One guest told the Daily Mail afterwards: 'If this was his idea of a joke then it went down like a lead balloon.' Harry said sorry shortly after the image was published, saying: 'I am very sorry if I have caused any offence or embarrassment to anyone. It was a poor choice of costume and I apologise.' 'N*****s see my Twitter but they don't see how I be feeling / So I became a Nazi, yeah b****, I'm the villain.' A fortnight later, he insisted on X, formerly Twitter, to his 69.4million followers: 'I am done with antisemitism. 'God forgive me for the pain I've caused. I forgive those who have caused me pain. Thank you God.' The 24-time Grammy winner explained the reason behind his rejection of his Nazi persona was because he 'simply got a FaceTime from my kids and I wanna save the world again'. He had previously tweeted in 2022 that he was going 'death con 3 on Jewish people' - which got him promptly dropped by his agency CAA, production company MRC, Adidas, Gap and Balenciaga. The Yeezy designer - who has worn swastika and 'White Lives Matter' T-shirts - has repeatedly spoken about his disdain for Jewish people and his adoration of Nazi Germany dictator Adolf Hitler. But in 2023, Ye claimed watching Jonah Hill in his 2012 action comedy 21 Jump Street made him 'like Jewish people again' in a bizarre Instagram post. 'No one should take anger against one or two individuals and transform that into hatred towards millions of innocent people,' the hip-hop star wrote at the time.
