NFL receiver Chris Conley announces retirement after 10 seasons to pursue new career
NFL veteran receiver Chris Conley is leaving football to pursue his other passions.
Conley, 32, announced his retirement from the NFL after 10 seasons with a post on social media, explaining he's finally accomplished what he set out to do as a child.
"When I was a kid I wrote down a set of goals. On that list was 'Play 10 years in the NFL.' Now that this goal has been accomplished it's time to set sights on something new," Conley, who spent the last two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, wrote.
"The past 10 years have been a dream. Getting the opportunity to play in the league was an honor and whether it was catching touchdowns or blocking for them I truly gave it my all."
Conley's agent, Jonathan Perzley, told the NFL Network Conley will enroll at the University of Georgia to pursue his dreams of becoming a filmmaker.
"God makes no mistakes and I'm thankful he proved this to me throughout my career," Conley's post said. "He is more than enough. See you in the next dream."
A third-round pick out of Georgia, Conley was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs, with whom he played four seasons. He also spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans.
Conley made his sole Super Bowl appearance against his former team, the Chiefs, in 2024. He caught one pass for 18 yards in the Niners' 25-22 loss.
He finished his career with 226 receptions for 2,998 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Sovereignty wins the 157th running of the Belmont Stakes
Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty galloped to victory in muddy conditions at the 157th Belmont Stakes in Saratoga Springs, New York, on Saturday in the third leg of the Triple Crown. USMNT falls to Turkey 2-1 in friendly for their 3rd consecutive loss
EAST HARTFORD, Conn. — Turkey took advantage of a sloppy defense to beat the United States 2-1 in a rainy friendly on Saturday, dealing the Americans their third straight loss as Arda Güler and Kerem Aktürkoğlu scored in a 2-minute, 20-second span midway through the first half. Jack McGlynn scored 59 seconds in for the U.S., which was missing many regulars as coach Mauricio Pochettino revamped his roster following a dismal performance at the CONCACAF Nations League final four in March. Coastal Carolina sweeps Auburn to reach College World Series for 2nd time
AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — Jacob Morrison and Hayden Johnson combined to scatter eight hits and Coastal Carolina defeated Auburn 4-1 on Saturday to sweep the Auburn Super Regional and reach the College World Series for the second time. The Chanticleers will try to duplicate the national championship they won in 2016. Morrison allowed one run on six hits with six strikeouts in six innings. Johnson (5-0) came on in the seventh and pitched three scoreless innings with two hits and five strikeouts. Coastal Carolina's three-run seventh inning featured an RBI single by Walker Mitchell and a series of Auburn miscues led to the other two runs. With the scored tied 1-1 after Mitchell's single, he moved up a base on a single by Blagen Pado and scored from second on a throwing error by the first baseman on a ball hit by Ty Dooley. A walk by Ty Barrango loaded the bases and Coastal's third run scored when Wells Sykes was hit by a pitch. Mitchell drove in the final run with a single in the eighth inning.
