‘Irrfan ko samjhao, usse acting nahi aati': What Rishi Kapoor said about his D-Day co-star to director Nikkhil Advani

Indian Express30-04-2025

Everyone who ever worked with Irrfan Khan will share stories about his skill as an actor and how he owned every frame, but the late actor Rishi Kapoor didn't agree with all this praise at one point. Rishi was reportedly not satisfied with Irrfan's style of acting while working with him in the crime thriller D-Day (2013), and he was quite vocal about this with the director Nikkhil Advani. While Irrfan passed away on April 29, 2020, Rishi Kapoor died a day after on Aprilo 30.
Advani revealed in a conversation with film critic Rajeev Masand that Rishi Kapoor had very different expectations from Irrfan and was not used to his way of working. 'When they came together, Rishi Kapoor had heard that Irrfan Khan was this great actor. So he wanted to see it, and fortunately for me, they were doing this one scene where Irrfan decided to improvise. And Irrfan never ever gives the same cue again. So Rishi Kapoor called me and said, 'Usko samjhao, usko acting nahi aati hai (Talk to him, he doesn't know acting).'
The director talked about how Irrfan used to finish each take in a different way, and hence the Karz actor could not identify his cue to start speaking. 'I told him, 'Sir, you don't have to worry. You start speaking whenever you want to speak; don't worry about him.'' He also added that even though both the actors were very different, his experience working with them was special.
According to Advani, Irrfan and Rishi Kapoor reconciled when the former convinced him to stay the night in the desert with the promise of 'chicken and alcohol'. In a conversation with Mid-Day, he revealed that Rishi Kapoor used to travel back and forth from the hotel every day, and the film required a sunrise shot, for which the veteran actor would have to start very early. 'He was refusing to comply with a morning shoot, but Irrfan managed to convince him to spend the night in the desert with us with the promise of Chicken Jungli and alcohol. It was a near-impossible feat in Kutch, but he delivered his promise, and I got my shot.'
Apart from the two stalwarts, D-Day also featured Shruti Haasan, Arjun Rampal, Huma Qureshi, Nassar and K.K. Raina. Irrfan Khan played a RAW agent in the film, while Rishi Kapoor played the role of a don. Both actors passed away in 2020 due to cancer.

Is this the end? Seth Rollins speaks out on WWE career and what's next

Image via WWE WWE superstar Seth Rollins has ignited speculation about his future in professional wrestling after making candid remarks about the state of his body, career longevity, and the looming finish line. In an interview on the Up & Adams Show, Rollins reflected on his 21-year journey in the ring - a journey that may be closer to its final chapter than fans expected. 'I just turned 39… been wrestling for 21 years, almost 22, non-stop. Only small breaks for rehab injuries,' Rollins told host Kay Adams. 'Before that, I was throwing myself in the backyard with my friends. So you're looking at 25 years of wrestling.' Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams | WWE Superstar Seth Rollins | June 5, 2025 While Rollins maintained he still feels physically strong, he acknowledged that time is catching up. 'I certainly feel closer to the end than the beginning. I'm not doing 25 more years of this,' he said. 'I don't know what that looks like on the backend, but I feel good right now.' Peak performance amid retirement whispers Currently aligned with Paul Heyman and leading a dominant new faction that includes Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker, Rollins has arguably been in one of his most intriguing runs in WWE . Park Bom's agency reveals why she missed 2NE1's LA reunion performance despite being in city, shuts exit rumors

Legendary K-pop group 2NE1 made headlines with their reunion performance at the Head In The Clouds music festival in Los Angeles on June 1. While the appearance of CL, Sandara Park, and Minzy thrilled longtime fans, the absence of member Park Bom became a topic of widespread curiosity and concern. Given that Park Bom had posted photos on Instagram just days before the event, which suggested she was in Los Angeles, fans were left puzzled. Many began questioning why she was not included in such a major appearance, especially as it marked the group's most public reunion in years. It even prompted some fans to speculate that Park Bom has officially left the group. D-Nation reveals why Park Bom missed the performance After days of speculation, Park Bom 's agency D-Nation officially addressed the situation. According to a report published on June 6 by Star News, the singer was indeed in Los Angeles at one point. However, she had already returned to South Korea by mid-May, well before the group took the stage. The agency clarified that her absence was not due to any personal or internal issues, but simply a scheduling conflict. D-Nation emphasized that all 2NE1 's members had been informed in advance. After open discussions, they mutually agreed to go ahead with the performance as a trio. The agency's statement helped put to rest unfounded rumors about a possible fallout within the group or any deliberate exclusion. Social media activity adds to the confusion Part of the confusion stemmed from the timing of Park Bom's Instagram post, which appeared shortly before 2NE1's LA performance. The photo was captioned: 'On my way to the 2NE1 gathering.' It led many fans to assume she was referring to a reunion in Los Angeles. However, subsequent reports revealed that the "gathering" in question actually took place in Korea prior to the U.S. event. All four members had reunited privately to reconnect and maintain their bond, even though only three went on to perform publicly at the festival. Group bond remains intact Despite the online buzz surrounding Park Bom's absence, the group's members have taken steps to show that their connection remains unshaken. Sandara Park tagging Park Bom in her festival photos on Instagram was seen by fans as a strong gesture of unity and affection. This simple yet meaningful act reassured many that the group bond remains positive. The support between the members was also visible in past interactions. And this latest event suggests that 2NE1 continues to operate with mutual respect, regardless of individual schedules or availability. Could a full 2NE1 reunion still happen? As of now, there's no confirmed plan for a full 2NE1 comeback, but the recent reunion has certainly rekindled excitement among fans. Many are hopeful that this performance is just the beginning, and that future stages will feature all four original members together again.

Will Adam Pearce replace Jey Uso at MITB 2025 with a WWE veteran?

Things are looking rough for Jey Uso heading into Money in the Bank 2025. On this week's episode of Monday Night RAW, Seth Rollins and his crew launched a vicious attack on Jey. To make matters worse, Bronson Reed hit him with multiple Tsunamis, leaving fans seriously worried about how Jey's holding up—especially with a huge tag team match just days away. Jey is scheduled to team up with Cody Rhodes this Saturday to take on John Cena and Logan Paul. But after what went down on RAW, there's real concern he won't be cleared to compete. And that's not the only thing on Jey's plate. He's also got to defend his World Heavyweight Title against Gunther next week on RAW. Between that and all the enemies he's got right now—Rollins' crew, Cena and Logan, and Gunther—he's being pulled in every direction. It's no surprise that RAW GM Adam Pearce might have to step in and pull Jey from the tag match at MITB for the sake of his health. Also Read: 'Why isn't Brock Lesnar getting fired?': Ex-WWE writer questions Adam Pearce If that happens, fans are already speculating about a possible replacement. The most obvious (and dramatic) choice? Jey's own brother, Jimmy Uso. Sure, the two have had their ups and downs, but when it really matters, Jimmy's always shown up for Jey. If Jey can't go, Jimmy stepping in would make for one heck of a moment. That said, nothing is official yet. We still don't know the full extent of Jey's injuries, and Pearce hasn't made any announcements. Meanwhile, Gunther isn't wasting time. The Ring General is locked in on getting his title back from Jey, and he's been pretty vocal about it. He lost to Jey at WrestleMania 41 after tapping out, but on RAW this week, he made it clear he's ready for revenge. 'Because ever since that day I lost to you at WrestleMania, I knew I'd avenge this. And right now? You're making it very, very easy for me. Jey in one week, the party is over.' Gunther clearly thinks Jey's taking on too much—and honestly, he might have a point. Jey hasn't even held the title for two months yet, and while WWE usually lets champs keep the belt a while, this could be one of those rare moments where they shake things up fast. If Jey's not at 100%, Gunther could easily take advantage and walk out with the gold. Jey Uso's got a brutal week ahead of him—if he can even make it to Saturday. And right now, nothing feels guaranteed.
