Morocco champions Two-State Solution as essential path to lasting peace, FM says
Morocco, guided by its historical responsibility and as chair of the Jerusalem Committee, considers the two-state solution the key to ensuring security and stability in the region, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita stated Tuesday in Rabat.
Speaking at the opening of the fifth meeting of the International Coalition for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution—held in Morocco in partnership with the Kingdom of the Netherlands under the theme «Sustaining Momentum for the Peace Process: Lessons Learned, Success Stories, Next Steps», Bourita affirmed that the two-state solution «is the only option without losers, as everyone benefits: Palestinians gain freedom and dignity, Israelis their security and stability, and the entire region its prospects for development».
He stressed, «The two-state solution is not an empty slogan or a diplomatic bargaining tool, but a moral obligation and a realistic political option that cannot be postponed».
Bourita added, «There are those who lose from this solution: extremists on all sides who thrive on conflict and exist only in its shadow. They trade slogans and claim to support the Palestinian people without offering even a sack of rice, preferring opposition to responsibility».
He emphasized that the two-state solution is a historic option endorsed by the international community decades ago. Despite crises, it remains the only viable path toward a just and lasting settlement, enabling the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The minister recalled that Morocco, under the leadership of its kings, from King Hassan II to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Jerusalem Committee, has remained steadfast in this commitment. Moroccan diplomacy has worked calmly and effectively to promote the chances of a just peace.
Bourita highlighted that the King, in his address at the last Arab Summit in Baghdad, outlined key steps to break the current impasse: immediate cessation of military operations; addressing West Bank aggressions including demolitions and forced displacement; ensuring humanitarian aid access; supporting UNRWA; and launching an integrated reconstruction plan supervised by the Palestinian Authority with Arab and international oversight, aligned with the last Cairo Summit decisions.
«But let us be clear: no economic aid can replace a political solution. We seek not temporary fixes but a radical remedy to the conflict», he stressed, urging enrichment of the «Compendium» Morocco plans to present jointly with the Netherlands.
He concluded that convening this meeting amid the tragic situation in the Palestinian territories, especially the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza, is more than a diplomatic event, it is a message of hope and a practical step to reactivate the two-state solution through concrete measures.
«At this critical historical moment», the minister emphasized, «we believe our coalition is among the most promising initiatives to revitalize peace efforts by proposing concrete steps that advance the political process and create the momentum necessary to establish the two-state solution as the only path to a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace for the Palestinian cause».

David Lammy Hammers Home Morocco's Autonomy Plan Before UK Parliament
Doha – British Foreign Minister David Lammy forcefully confirmed the United Kingdom's support for Morocco's Autonomy Plan during today's address to the House of Commons, declaring it 'the most credible, viable and pragmatic basis for resolving the conflict' over the Western Sahara. This parliamentary statement reinforced his groundbreaking position already announced during his weekend visit to Rabat. 'During my visit to Morocco, I announced the United Kingdom's support for the autonomy proposal presented by Morocco, considering it the most credible, viable and pragmatic basis for a solution to the conflict,' Lammy proclaimed to members of the lower house of Westminster Parliament. The British diplomatic chief spotlighted the urgent need for resolution as the dispute approaches a half-century milestone. 'As we approach the 50th anniversary of the conflict, and with renewed international engagement, an opportunity presents itself to move things forward in this conflict,' he asserted. During his historic visit to Morocco on Sunday – the first by a British foreign minister since 2011 – Lammy had already shattered diplomatic ambiguity by explicitly backing Morocco's position. According to the Financial Times, this represented 'a pure and simple recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara,' marking a pragmatic decision aligned with Britain's 'progressive realism' in foreign policy. During his address to MPs, Lammy stressed the strategic importance London places on strengthening ties with Morocco, characterizing the two kingdoms as 'longstanding partners collaborating on various common priorities.' He noted that Rabat and London are actively elevating their partnership 'to promote our common goals in security, prosperity, and sustainable development.' Britain dismantles Algeria's separatist theatre This unequivocal British stance deals a devastating blow to the Polisario Front's fabricated separatist agenda and brutally exposes the futility of Algeria's decades-long, hostile crusade to sabotage Morocco's sovereignty. The backing from a permanent UN Security Council member further isolates the increasingly desperate Algerian regime, which has stubbornly clung to its failed proxy war strategy. Algeria's reaction betrayed its diplomatic panic. The regime hastily issued a flimsy statement claiming to have 'taken note' of Britain's new position while 'regretting the UK's choice to support Morocco's Autonomy Plan.' In a transparent attempt to distort reality, Algerian officials brazenly misrepresented Lammy's statements, falsely claiming he had made declarations supporting self-determination during the press conference – a blatant fabrication contradicted by the official Moroccan-British joint press statement. The Algerian foreign ministry's desperate attempt to denounce the 'emptiness' of Morocco's autonomy initiative rings hollow, as the plan now enjoys support from a commanding majority of the international community. Global momentum crushes Polisario delusion Algeria's obstinate refusal to recognize diplomatic reality shows its growing isolation as a destabilizing force, desperately throwing billions in gas revenues at a hollow, outdated fantasy – an antiquated separatist chimera disconnected from 21st-century geopolitical realities and one that no longer holds any weight. As if the UK's endorsement weren't enough, Kenya's recent shift in favor of Morocco's position delivers yet another seismic diplomatic strike against Algeria in a remarkably short timeframe. This accelerating avalanche of international support against the separatist agenda confirms the growing global consensus that Morocco's Autonomy Plan is the only credible and forward-looking solution. London's position aligns perfectly with its economic interests in the region. Trade between the two kingdoms has exploded, with commercial exchanges reaching £3.8 billion and growing from MAD 22.9 billion in 2022 to a staggering MAD 48.5 billion in 2024. Morocco's exports to Britain have nearly tripled since their association agreement took effect. During the 5th Strategic Dialogue session held during Lammy's visit to Rabat, both sides signed several memorandums of understanding covering priority areas including migration, counter-terrorism, education, climate change, health, and infrastructure development. Lammy reaffirmed both countries' commitment to an international order based on fundamental UN Charter principles, emphasizing 'the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States.' Beyond diplomatic support, the UK has committed substantial financial firepower to the region. UK Export Finance has received the green light to back projects directly in Western Sahara, mobilizing £5 billion to support economic initiatives throughout Morocco, including its southern provinces. The UK also views Morocco as a crucial energy partner through the ambitious X-Links mega-project, designed to supply 7 million British households with clean solar electricity from a Guelmim power plant via a massive 3,800 km undersea cable. With France, Spain, and now the United Kingdom – all European powers historically entangled in the region – firmly backing Morocco's position, the Polisario Front's separatist delusion continues to crumble while Algeria's misguided regional hegemonic ambitions face catastrophic collapse. Saad Lamjarred's Appeal Trial Postponed for Further Investigation
Rabat – Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred's trial has been postponed, with reports saying that no information has been released on the new hearing date. Lamjarred faces rape charges after French woman Laura Prioul filed a lawsuit against him in 2016. AFP quoted sources close to Lamjarred's case, noting that the court's decision to postpone the trial was due to the need for further investigation. The victim's defense said the new appeal trial reflects the 'hope of full and final justice,' but also cited a 'new ordeal' for their client. In February 2023, a court in Paris sentenced Lamjarred to six-years in prison under charges of aggravated rape and assault. Seven out of the nine juries found him guilty, and the judge sentenced him to six years in prison. The prosecutor initially asked for a seven-year prison sentence and for the defendant to be banned from entering France, but the artist maintained that he is innocent. Following the initial verdict, the controversial singer's defense announced an appeal process. This is not the only alleged rape case that Lamjaraeed is facing. Another woman accused him of similar acts in Saint-Tropez in 2018, and he has also faced similar accusations in New York. Lamjarred is renowned in the Middle East, North Africa, and the whole Arab world, with trending songs in other countries as he regularly features alongside international artists from India and beyond. He has 15.6 million subscribers and more than 15.3 million followers on Instagram. Tags: Saad Lamjared trialSaad Lamjarred

Former US Biden Administration Official Admits Israel Committed War Crimes
Rabat — In an interesting pivot, former US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller has publicly acknowledged that Israel has 'without a doubt' committed war crimes in Gaza. The admission, made in a recent Sky News podcast, marks a dramatic departure from his official posture during his time at the Biden administration — a period defined by unyielding US support for Israel amid its ongoing genocide in Gaza. Miller, who served as the mouthpiece of US foreign policy from 2023 until the end of Biden's presidency, was one of the administration's most visible defenders of Israel's campaign of aggression. While Palestinians were being massacred by US-funded bombs, Miller was at the podium, literally, smirking through press briefings, downplaying atrocities, and shielding Israel from growing international condemnation. Now out of office, Miller offers a controlled and partial admission — one that critics argue is far too little, far too late. 'It is without a doubt true that Israel has committed war crimes,' Miller said in the interview, finally articulating what human rights groups, legal experts, and millions of people around the world have been documenting for months. Yet even in his newfound candor, Miller remains unwilling to name the atrocities in Gaza as a genocide. Instead, he clings to the narrative that Israel's crimes are the result of 'individual incidents' of misconduct rather than deliberate state policy — thus continuing to run cover for Israel and the US by extension, from full accountability for its systematic destruction of life in Gaza. This framing is not just evasive. It's a continuation of the same diplomatic gaslighting he engaged in while in office. The United Nations, numerous legal scholars, and international watchdogs have repeatedly affirmed that Israel's actions — mass killings of civilians, targeted starvation, deliberate destruction of homes, hospitals, and infrastructure — meet the legal definition of genocide. Within the same warped logic, Miller expresses doubt that Israel will ever hold its soldiers accountable, referring to the lack of military prosecutions; yet he avoids drawing the rational conclusion that if there is no accountability, no punishment and no justice, then the issue at hand is not that of rogue actors but rather a systematic state policy. Miller also spoke of internal division within the Biden administration over the handling of Israel's genocidal campaign. He described policy disagreements and debates over suspending arms shipments to Israel. 'There were disagreements all along the way about how to handle policy,' Miller admitted, yet, conveniently enough, these debates never translated into decisive action that could have saved thousands of Palestinian lives. Just following orders Much like the current administration, the Biden White House insisted it was working tirelessly behind the scenes to pressure Israel into agreeing to a ceasefire. Yet, a recent investigative report tells a different story. The exposé revealed that the administration deliberately avoided applying meaningful pressure — even as the death toll in Gaza climbed past 30,000. Israeli Channel 13 showed Michael Herzog, former Israeli ambassador to Washington, openly praising former President Biden's inaction, describing it as a divine gift to Israel. 'We fought for over a year and the administration never came to us and said, 'ceasefire now.' It never did. And that's not to be taken for granted,' shamelessly declared Herzog. During that same period, Matthew Miller, serving as the State Department spokesperson, routinely defended Israeli Occupation Forces' actions with unwavering loyalty. In one briefing, when asked about the bombing of a shelter where 6,000 displaced Palestinians had sought refuge, Miller chillingly asserted that 'Israel has a right to try and target those civilians.' Now out of office, he insists he could not have spoken otherwise, claiming he was simply fulfilling his role. 'When you're at the podium, you're not expressing your personal opinion. You are a spokesperson for the president, the administration, and you espouse the positions of the administration,' he said in an attempted excuse. This rationale has drawn comparisons to the infamous 'just following orders' defense — a moral escape hatch historically employed by individuals who abet state violence under the pretext of duty. Most notoriously, this defense was invoked during the Nuremberg Trials, where Nazi officials, confronted with their roles in the Holocaust, claimed they had no responsibility because they were merely executing directives from higher authorities. The court rejected that defense unequivocally, establishing that personal responsibility does not dissolve in the machinery of state power. History may not repeat itself identically, but it rhymes — and Miller, too, will be judged for what he defended, what he denied, and what he smirked away at the podium.
