When Rajesh Khanna made an offensive joke, this Bollywood actress made sure he never messes with her again

Time of India24-05-2025

Moushumi Chatterjee
, a seasoned actress in Hindi cinema, has once again revisited a controversial moment involving the late superstar
Rajesh Khanna
. During the filming of Prem Bandhan, Khanna had allegedly made a disparaging comment about Chatterjee's pregnancy, questioning whether the child she was carrying was fathered by her husband Jayanta Mukherjee or by actor Vinod Mehra.
In a recent interview with journalist Nayandeep Rakshit, Chatterjee opened up about the episode, revealing how she responded with boldness to a remark that many would have quietly endured. She noted that she was often underestimated, as people assumed she wouldn't retaliate.
According to her, such individuals would take liberties thinking she wouldn't be bothered. 'People used to get angry because I was never bothered so much. They used to be like, chalo time mila toh isko cheddte hain, so I used to give it back,' she shared.

'He Thought It Was a Joke, But I Gave It Back'
Chatterjee expressed that Khanna likely made the comment in jest, but failed to understand the impact such words could have. 'He thought that is fun. A lot of people who pass nasty remarks don't realise that they are actually showing what they are. You come from that surrounding. Nobody thought I can give it back. I was always like that. I never cared if you are a superhero or super heroine or anything like that,' she said.
She explained that her principles didn't revolve around fame or power, and that she respected every human being for who they are. 'If you are super, even while working as a spot boy, salute from me,' Chatterjee added, making it clear that dignity, not celebrity status, earned her respect.
Response That Left the Superstar Silent
In an earlier appearance on Lehren Retro, Chatterjee had revealed more details about the exchange. In response to Khanna's insinuation about her child's paternity, she retaliated by referencing Khanna's own family. 'Yes, I gave him back. I asked him, 'Is it Rishi Kapoor's child or yours?'' she had said. The directness of the remark reportedly stunned Khanna into silence.
Despite the discomfort caused by the incident, Chatterjee confirmed that their professional dynamic remained unaffected. 'I did movies with him after that as well. It was never awkward between me and him. Raat gayi, baat gayi. He also distanced himself, thinking she wasn't an easy nut to crack,' she explained. Her ability to separate personal grievances from her work was evident, as the two went on to collaborate on several more films, including Anuraag, Ghar Parivaar, Vijay, and Humshakal.

Tired of too many ads? go ad free now However, it appears that is not at all pleased with this revelation. Govind Namdev clarifies the viral photo In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Namdev explained, 'When the film was being prepared, we had a discussion with the director, producer, and Shivangi about planning a strong publicity strategy. I agreed that it was necessary,' he said, adding that they had taken photos during morning workouts and shoot days. Namdev said that Shivangi herself had suggested the idea of projecting them as a romantic pair to generate buzz. 'Shivangi insisted that we should have a romantic pairing, that the images needed to convey a certain chemistry. I agreed, but also asked what kind of content she had in mind,' he explained. 'She said, 'There's a lot. Content matters most.' I thought, fine, let's do it.' However, he said things went south when she proceeded with tagging and posting content without informing him. 'That's where the misunderstanding started. People began speculating about us, and frankly, I didn't appreciate it. That's why I stopped talking to her,' he stated. Shivangi posts a scathing message on Instagram Shivangi didn't take these remarks lightly. On Wednesday evening, she took to her Instagram Stories and posted a scathing message in Hindi: 'Sahi kaha hai kisi ne, buzurg badhti umr mein satiya jaate hain...G***** Tired of too many ads? go ad free now N*****.' The comment, roughly translated to 'Old people lose their senses with age,' was seen as a direct dig at Namdev. The use of his initials left little doubt about whom she was referring to. 'I'm not here to prove anything,' says Namdev In the same interview, Namdev also addressed rumours suggesting that his marriage with wife Sudha Namdev had hit a rough patch due to the controversy. 'There were rumours that my household was affected and me and my wife were considering living separately. I didn't react then, and I don't react now. Everyone can see the truth,' he said. 'The more I raped, murdered, misbehaved onscreen, the more I got close to my family,' says popular villain Govind Namdev He added that the situation forced him to speak up, especially after people close to him expressed concern. 'People had begun feeling sorry for me — not just the audience, but even close friends and family. So yes, as a respected actor, I felt a responsibility to speak up. That's why I shared two posts initially — just to set the record straight.'

Image via instagram/@jillyanais So, Deshaun Watson is getting married. Huge ring? Check. Fancy announcement? Check. A headline that was meant to go viral? Oh, it did, but not for the reasons he probably hoped. The moment Watson's engagement to influencer Jilly Anais hit the timeline, fans didn't hold back. From poking fun at the wording ('threw away a bachelor party??') to calling for his retirement over a wedding post, NFL Twitter turned a romantic moment into straight-up roast session. The $2.5M ring and 'wild bachelor party' were meant to impress but fans said 'lol, no' Deshaun reportedly proposed with a $2.5 million diamond ring, called the 'Glory Treasure,' to longtime girlfriend Jilly Anais. The two are tying the knot this month, and Watson allegedly celebrated with a wild bachelor party last weekend. But instead of applause, fans' reactions were brutal and petty in the most internet way possible. Fans trolled everything from the phrasing to Watson's career, and the sarcasm was peak Twitter The internet didn't miss a beat: These weren't just throwaway comments, they came with layers. 'Threw away' became a meme itself. 'Happy ending??' was a not-so-subtle nod to Watson's past controversies. And to top it off, fans questioned why this announcement even needed to exist in the first place . Roshan Mathew says his first Hindi project helped him correct ‘wrong approach' to acting; admits he was ignoring the camera during early Malayalam projects

Actor Roshan Mathew has recently opened up about his busy career in Bollywood, despite being a Mollywood star. He gained popularity with his role in Darlings, and his recent OTT series Kankhajura has received much appreciation. The actor admitted that although his roots are in the Malayalam film industry, he made his debut as an actor with the Hindi series 'Tanlines' in 2015. Roshan Mathew about his role in Kankhajura In an interview with Hindustan Times, Roshan said playing in Kankhajura was exciting because it marked his first time portraying a grey-shaded character—especially in Hindi, where audiences mostly know him as the softer Zulfi from Darlings. He found the change both refreshing and fun. Kankhajura Trailer: Roshan Mathew, Mohit Raina and Sarah Jane Dias Starrer Kankhajura Official Trailer When asked about his appearance and the roles he plays, Roshan admitted that physical appearance plays a significant role in casting choices. He shared that he is glad Kankhajura's director, Chandan Arora, chose him for the role. Roshan about his career in Bollywood and Mollywood Roshan shared that returning to Bollywood feels like coming full circle. He elaborated, 'My first project in front of the camera—where I actually started having fun with the medium—was Tanlines. Proshit Roy, who directed it, played a huge part in helping me make friends with the camera. I had done a couple of films in Malayalam, but they hadn't been released. But I was going about it with the wrong approach. I was completely ignoring the camera and pretending like I was on stage. Proshit changed that for me. I owe a lot to him. So, if you think about it, getting to do another series in Hindi is a strange kind of homecoming." About Kankhajura Kankhajura also features Mohit Raina, Sarah Jane Dias, and Trinetra Haldar in key roles and is currently streaming on OTT.
