Nvidia Wants To Build A Planet-Scale AI Factory With DGX Cloud Lepton

DGX Lepton Cloud In April 2025, Nvidia quietly acquired Lepton AI, a Chinese startup specializing in GPU cloud services. Founded in 2023, Lepton AI focused on renting out GPU compute that's aggregated from diverse infrastructure and cloud providers. While the deal value is unknown, the founders of Lepton AI, Yangqing Jia (former VP of Technology at Alibaba) and Junjie Bai, joined Nvidia to continue building the product. Lepton AI had previously raised $11 million in seed funding from investors such as CRV and Fusion Fund. Nvidia has rebranded Lepton AI as DGX Cloud Lepton and relaunched it in June 2025. According to Nvidia, the service delivers a unified AI platform and compute marketplace that connects developers to tens of thousands of GPUs from a global network of cloud providers. How Does DGX Cloud Lepton Work DGX Cloud Lepton serves as a unified AI platform and marketplace, bringing the global network of GPU resources closer to developers. It aggregates the GPU capacity offered by cloud providers, such as AWS, CoreWeave and Lambda, through a consistent software interface. This enables developers to access GPU compute through a centralized interface, regardless of the cluster's location. Lepton Cloud While leveraging the underlying GPU compute, Nvidia is exposing a consistent software platform powered by NIM, Nemo, Blueprints and Cloud Functions. Irrespective of the cloud infrastructure, developers can expect the same software stack to run their AI workflows. DGX Cloud Lepton supports three primary workflows: Dev Pods: Interactive development environments (e.g., Jupyter notebooks, SSH, VS Code) for prototyping and experimentation. Batch Jobs: Large-scale, non-interactive workloads (e.g., model training, data preprocessing) that can be distributed across multiple nodes, with real-time monitoring and detailed metrics. Inference Endpoints: Deploy and manage models (base, fine-tuned, or custom) as scalable, high-availability endpoints, with support for both NVIDIA NIM and custom containers Apart from this, DGX Cloud Lepton delivers operational features such as real-time monitoring and observability, on-demand auto-scaling, custom workspaces, security and compliance. Developers can choose the region of their preference to maintain data locality and comply with data sovereignty requirements. DGX Lepton's Growing Network Nvidia has partnered with major cloud providers and infrastructure providers worldwide. Andromeda, AWS, CoreWeave, Foxconn, Hugging Face, Lambda, Microsoft Azure, Mistral AI, Together AI and Yotta are some of the listed partners for DGX Cloud Lepton. At the recently held GTC event in Paris, Nvidia announced that it is working with some of the leading European cloud providers to enable local developers to meet the data sovereignty needs. It also announced a partnership with Hugging Face to deliver training clusters as a service. Nvidia collaborates with European venture capital firms, Accel, Elaia, Partech, and Sofinnova Partners, to provide up to $100,000 in GPU capacity credits and assistance from NVIDIA specialists for eligible portfolio firms via DGX Cloud Lepton. While the pricing varies based on the cloud provider, the service is currently in preview. Developers can sign up at to apply for early access to Lepton. With DGX Cloud Lepton, Nvidia aims to make GPU computing accessible to global developers. Instead of launching its own cloud platform that competes with the hyperscalers, Nvidia has chosen to partner with them to deliver aggregated compute resources to developers.

Massive Google Cloud outage disrupts popular internet services

NEW YORK (AP) — Popular online services across the globe were disrupted Thursday due to ongoing issues at Google Cloud. Tens of thousands of users of Spotify, Discord and other platforms began noticing issues with their services early in the afternoon, according to Downdetector, which tracks outages. Outage reports for music streamer Spotify in particular, peaked around 3 p.m. Eastern Standard Time before dropping off, and some users began saying their access was restored. Google's Cloud status page said an incident with their systems affected clients in the U.S. and abroad. The company also posted that services are starting to recover after its engineers identified and began to mitigate the issue. "We have identified the root cause and applied appropriate mitigations," Google Cloud said. It added that there is no estimate for when the issue would be fully resolved. Google Cloud, which hosts a significant amount of services on the internet, has become the fastest growing part of Alphabet Inc., even though the company still makes most of its money from Google's ubiquitous search engine. Google Cloud's revenue last year totaled $43.2 billion, a 31% increase from 2023. By comparison, Alphabet's overall revenue grew by 14% last year.

Google, Spotify, more experience outages amid apparent widespread issue

(NEXSTAR) — Numerous websites and online services, including Google services, Spotify, DoorDash, and more, are reportedly encountering outages Thursday afternoon amid what appears to be a widespread outage. Outage tracker Downdetector shows dozens of sites and services are seeing increased rates of user-reported issues, with reports starting to spike shortly after 2 p.m. ET. More than 40,000 such reports were filed for Spotify, for example. There, users said they were unable to load or use the app. For Discord, more than 12,000 users reported issues sending messages or establishing a server connection. Other sites, apps, and services with reported problems included Snapchat, Pokémon Go, Etsy, Fubo, and Mailchimp. Geomagnetic storming could spark northern lights this weekend: What to know Thousands of users have reported troubles accessing or using Google resources as well, like its website, Cloud, Meet, Nest, Drive, and Gmail. The company's Search status dashboard showed no incidents as of Thursday afternoon. The Workspace dashboard initially had the same message before linking to an update posted shortly before 4 p.m. ET that the problem impacting several services — Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Chat, Google Cloud Search, Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Meet, Google Tasks, and Google Voice — had been resolved. The Google Cloud status site shows that worldwide incidents have been reported. A notice posted on the status site around 3 p.m. ET reported that 'multiple [Cloud] products are experiencing impact due to Identity and Access Management Service Issue.' After reporting that its engineering team was investigating the issue, a notice on the status site said the root cause had been identified and 'appropriate mitigations' had been applied. Trump hails $1K-per-child 'Trump Accounts' during White House roundtable In a 5 p.m. ET update, Google reported that it was 'seeing signs of recovery' after implementing mitigation. The message said recovery is expected to be complete before 6 p.m. ET. Google Cloud offers computing services to companies, essentially hosting their apps, data, and more. One company listed as a Google Cloud client, Shopify, has also seen a spike in outage reports. Downdetector says more than 800 issue reports have been filed, especially with the company's website. Meanwhile, Spotify users who have reported issues accessing the streaming service have been instructed by the company's support account on X to try a different browser, with one post specifically asking if the user was experiencing a problem 'only with [Google] Chrome.' In response to posts remarking on issues with its services, however, Google had responded and said that 'there aren't any known service disruptions' before asking the users to 'try clearing cache & cookies.' Apple announces iOS 26: When is it coming, and what devices can't get it? Cloudflare, which also supports online services, saw a spike in outage reports as well. A notice on the company's site said its Workers KV service went offline 'due to an outage of a 3rd party service that is a key dependency.' The notice says services are starting to recover and engineers are continuing to work to resolve the issue. Amazon Web Services was also encountering problems. As of 3 p.m. ET, nearly 6,000 issue reports had been made regarding AWS on Downdetector. The company has not, however, reported any issues on its status dashboard. Outage reports on Downdetector for the impacted sites and services started to decline shortly after 3 p.m. ET. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
