Coroner IDs 73-year-old woman killed in crash along busy Dayton street

Ruby Robinson was identified Thursday morning by the Montgomery County Coroner's Office.
As previously reported by News Center 7, the crash happened at the corner of Stanley Avenue and Helena Street just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

The crash happened when a Buick Lacrosse was going east on E. Helena Street and tried to make a left turn at Stanley Avenue.
According to a Dayton Police crash report, when the Buick went to turn, it failed to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic and collided with a BMW X5.
After being hit, the Buick went off the north side of the road, hit a stop sign, and then hit a building, according to the report.
The 78-year-old man who was driving the Buick and his passenger, Robinson, were taken to Miami Valley Hospital. Robinson later died there.
The other driver told police that he would get to the hospital on his own.
The crash remains under investigation.

1-year-old girl found dead in hearse was strangled by mom, Alabama cops say
A mom is accused of killing her 1-year-old daughter and leaving her body in a hearse outside an Alabama funeral home, according to authorities. Terica Pearl, 29, is now charged with capital murder, according to the Gadsden Police Department and Etowah County jail records. A young child was found dead in a vehicle outside the West Gadsden Funeral Home the morning of Aug. 9, police said in a news release. The funeral home's director, Dantez Robinson, went on Facebook Live to explain that he hadn't locked the hearse the night before. Then in the morning, the funeral home groundskeeper went to move the hearse when he noticed a dead toddler inside. 'He was just shocked,' Robinson said. The groundskeeper called him, and Robinson said he was in disbelief until he saw the scene for himself, then he called the police. Officers arrived and said they began investigating with 'little to no information to work from' at first. But less than 12 hours later, police arrested the child's mother, according to WBRC. She was booked in jail at around 2 a.m. Aug. 10. Court records revealed the 1-year-old had been strangled to death with a 'thick robe string,' reported. Robinson, who identified himself as the assistant coroner for Etowah County, said he's witnessed a lot of deaths as part of his job. 'But to see something like this, really sent me into another level of shock,' he said. Gadsden is about a 60-mile drive northeast from Birmingham.

It's a court case that dominated headlines at the time; the murder of British exchange student Meredith Kercher in Perugia, Italy with the courts initially finding her housemate Amanda Knox and her boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito guilty of the heinous crime. Knox, who was just 20-years-old when facing a hefty 26 year jail sentence when she was wrongly convicted of murder in Italian court, immediately became catnip to salacious tabloid titles who thirstily followed the case and sensationalised any updates. She was branded as 'Foxy Knoxy', with Knox herself revealing she felt as if she was portrayed as a "dirty, psychopathic, man-eater" in the press. She spent years fighting for her freedom - and was acquitted in 2011 after an appeal, in which she immediately flew back to the US. While Knox was reconvicted in 2014 following a retrial, the Italian supreme court permanently exonerated her and Sollecito in 2015 - meaning her ordeal was finally over. After a brief hiatus from public life, Knox returned to the spotlight in 2016 to recount her fight for justice in the Netflix documentary Amanda Knox. Now, Knox's story will be retold in the hotly-anticipated Disney Plus drama The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox, with the eight-part series allowing Knox to reclaim the narrative that was stolen from her. Here, Cosmopolitan UK explores where Knox is now, and what she has accomplished now she has dedicated her life to miscarriages of justice. After finishing her undergraduate degree in creative writing at the University of Washington, Knox wrote a memoir about her fight for justice in 2013 titled Waiting to Be Heard, which became an instant bestseller. Knox released her second book, Free, in 2025, which details her 'quest for meaning'. Knox got engaged to Seattle-based author Christopher Robinson on November 21, 2018. The pair met at a book launch and officially started dating in late 2015. Apparently, Robinson barely knew who Knox was when they met. 49ers' Demarcus Robinson files appeal, but DUI-related suspension is expected
San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that wide receiver Demarcus Robinson is appealing an NFL suspension, but indicated the team is expecting Robinson to miss multiple games to start the regular season. Shanahan said Robinson, 30, would 'most likely' sit out the 'first few games' due to a DUI arrest. Last week, Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison received a three-game suspension after he was arrested for a DUI last year. 'There is an appeal process,' Shanahan said. 'I'm not sure how it's going. So I always just plan for the worst and hope for the best.' Robinson addressed the Bay Area media for the first time since he signed a two-year, $9.5 million deal in March. He said he's eager for a resolution to his case. '(I'm) pretty anxious,' Robinson said. 'Just waiting on the outcome to see what happens with that … I really don't know the timeframe. Waiting to hear from them, honestly.' Robinson was arrested in November when he was with the Rams. Officers observed him driving more than 100 mph on Highway 101, and he was charged with driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or higher and driving without a valid license. Robinson addressed his teammates and apologized after his arrest. 'I think it's always hard when you go through something like that to try to deal with that and talk about that in front of the guys,' Robinson said. 'But I think it's also a learning time for myself and anybody that's in the room. Just try to give them (advice) so no one goes through the same type of thing.' Robinson had career-highs in receiving yards (505), yards per reception (16.3) and receiving touchdowns (seven) last year. He's reached the playoffs in each of his first nine seasons, with the Chiefs (2016-21), Ravens (2022) and Rams (2023-24). He earned his lone Super Bowl ring when Kansas City beat the 49ers in Super Bowl LIV in February 2020. His motivation for signing with the 49ers? 'Just trying to get to another good team,' Robinson said. 'And make another run for a Super Bowl.'
