BCCI announces full schedule, venues for New Zealand's tour to India; check details
India and New Zealand will lock horns in a white-ball series beginning on the 11th of January 2026. The teams will face each other in three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and five Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). Here's a look at all the venues and the schedule for the series.
Notably, it will be the first clash between the two teams since India's Champions Trophy final win over New Zealand in March 2025. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) finalized the schedule during its Apex Council Meeting.
New Zealand's tour to India kicks off with a three-match ODI series, in Baroda (Vadodara) at the newly constructed Kotambi Stadium. Interestingly, this venue will host its first men's international match in over 15 years, having previously hosted three Women's ODIs in December 2024 and six Women's Premier League (WPL) matches in 2025.
The second ODI will take place on January 14 in Rajkot, followed by the series finale on January 18 in Indore.
1st ODI: January 11, 2026 – Baroda (Kotambi Stadium) – 1:30 PM IST
2nd ODI: January 14, 2026 – Rajkot – 1:30 PM IST
3rd ODI: January 18, 2026 – Indore – 1:30 PM IST
Following the ODIs, the teams will face each other to play the T20I format with five matches spread across central, eastern, and southern India.
The T20I series between India and New Zealand will start on January 21 in Nagpur, followed by Raipur on January 23. The third match will be played in Guwahati on January 25, before heading to Visakhapatnam (Vizag) on January 28 and concluding the tour in Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) on January 31.

The series between India and New Zealand holds special importance for both teams.
For India, the reigning T20 World Cup champions (2024), these five T20I matches could serve as their final preparation before co-hosting the 2026 T20 World Cup with Sri Lanka in February-March 2026.
New Zealand, on the other hand, can use this tour as a crucial build-up to their subsequent T20I series against Afghanistan.

Punjab Cricket Association secretary Dilsher resigns citing personal reasons
Nearing the end of his three-year tenure as secretary of the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA), 35-year-old Dilsher Khanna resigned from the post on Sunday, citing personal reasons. The elections to choose the next PCA apex council for the 2025-2028 term are scheduled for mid-July. In a letter sent to the PCA president, council and members, Dilsher wrote: 'Due to personal reasons, I hereby resign as honorary secretary of the Punjab Cricket Association with immediate effect.' In his letter, Dilsher highlighted Punjab's cricketing and administrative achievements during his tenure, including hosting the IPL successfully in 2024 and 2025 at the New Chandigarh stadium, a feat that drew praise from across the cricketing fraternity. Last year, he was part of the Indian team management for the T20 World Cup held in the USA and the West Indies, where India eventually lifted the trophy under Rohit Sharma's captaincy. He also played a pivotal role in introducing administrative reforms within PCA, notably launching the association's own T20 league, Sher-e-Punjab, two seasons ago. Recognising his contribution, BCCI appointed him to the Women's Premier League (WPL) panel a few months ago. It remains to be seen whether Dilsher will take up another administrative role in BCCI following his resignation from PCA.

Former Indian cricketer Yograj Singh, father of the legendary Yuvraj Singh, on Sunday made an explosive claim, where he alleged that the BCCI selection committee "destroyed" the careers of seven cricketers after the 2011 ODI World Cup win, and later even tried to get rid of captain MS Dhoni. The 2011 ODI World Cup win had ended India's 28-year wait for the coveted trophy, with the home team having defeated Sri Lanka in the final at the Wankhede Stadium. But the tournament also marked the end of an era in Indian cricket as only three players - Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin and Dhoni himself - went on to play the following 50-over World Cup in 2015. Speaking to InsideSport, Yograj lashed out at the then selection committee for quickly moving on from the 2011 World Cup-winning team, saying that the decision "destroyed" their careers. This included the likes of present India head coach Gautam Gambhir, his predecessor Rahul Dravid, and Yuvraj. "You (BCCI selectors) just destroyed these boys for no reason. Boys like Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Mohammed Kaif, VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid. You just made them go after 2011. You just destroyed the team after the 2011 World Cup. The careers of 7 players were put into the gutter. That is why were are struggling," Yograj said. The veteran cricketer also brought up the run of events from 2012, which led to the former selector Mohinder Amarnath wanting to sack Dhoni, following a unanimous call from the remaining committee members after the two whitewashes in England and Australia. "We lost 5 series when MS Dhoni was the captain and he was told he would be replaced by Mohinder Amarnath, but that's not the way to do it," Yograj said. However, the decision was overturned by then BCCI president N Srinivasan. "The Board President did not approve the unanimous decision to replace Mahendra Singh Dhoni," Amarnath had told CNN-IBN.

Dilsher Khanna resigns as PCA secretary
Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) secretary Dilsher Khanna has resigned from his post. Khanna, who was also the team manager during the Indian cricket team's historic T20 World Cup triumph in the US and West Indies last year, submitted his resignation in an official letter sent to PCA president Amarjeet Mehta. Khanna had become the PCA secretary in 2022. 'Yes, I have resigned from the post of PCA secretary,' Khanna confirmed the development while talking with The Indian Express. 'On a personal note, it was a privilege of a lifetime that I was the team manager for the Indian T20 World Cup winning men's cricket team in 2024. That memory will stay with me forever. However, currently due to my personal reasons, I hereby resign as honorary secretary of the Punjab Cricket Association with immediate effect,' a copy of the letter which is in possession with The Indian Express states. Khanna, 33, an alumnus of Doon School and Delhi University and also a certified pilot, was elected as PCA secretary in 2022 with former cricketer Gulzar Inder Singh Chahal being elected as PCA president in the association's Annual General Meeting. Chahal had resigned four months after his election with reports of irregularities during his term coming to fore with former cricketer and Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh too accusing Chahal of being involved. Bathinda hotelier Amarjeet Mehta was elected its new president in February 2023. During Khanna's three-year tenure, PCA saw the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh PCA International Stadium at Mullanpur being completed fully and hosting Indian Premier League (IPL) matches in 2024. His stint also saw Punjab winning five national titles apart from the PCA's introduction of Sher-e-Punjab T20 Cup. The Punjab association has also seen the likes of Shubman Gill, Arshdeep Singh, Abhishek Sharma, and Ramandeep Singh apart from others playing for the Indian cricket team in recent years. Khanna was also awarded with a commendation certificate by Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria in a UT Administration function on Independence Day last year. Earlier this year, Khanna was also appointed as a member of the Women's Premier League (WPL) committee by the BCCI. In 2017, industrialist Rajinder Gupta was elected as PCA president with R P Singla elected as secretary before he was re-elected to the post in 2019 with advocate and former cricketer Puneet Bali elected as PCA secretary. Before his nomination in 2019, Gupta had offered to resign but was chosen as PCA president months later. Gupta had resigned as the PCA president in 2022 followed by Chahal being elected as PCA president. As per BCCI constitution in line with the Supreme Court ruling, there is a nine-year tenure limit for any officer bearer, which can be served either entirely at state association, BCCI level or a combination of both.
