Wagaman, Sánchez HRs power the Marlins to an 8-3 victory that ends Phillies' 5-game win streak

MIAMI (AP) — Eric Wagaman and Jesus Sanchez homered as the Miami Marlins snapped a five-game home skid with an 8-3 win over the Phillies on Tuesday night, ending Philadelphia's five-game win streak.
Xavier Edwards had three hits and Javier Sanoja tripled and singled for the Marlins.
Nick Castellanos was benched by Phillies manager Rob Thomson on Tuesday for 'an inappropriate comment' the outfielder made after he was pulled for a defensive replacement in the series opener Monday. The benching ended Castellanos' streak of 236 consecutive starts.
Edwards' RBI single capped a three-run sixth that put Miami ahead 5-3. Phillies reliever Tanner Banks inherited two base runners from starter Jesus Luzardo and allowed an RBI groundout by Kyle Stowers and Sanoja's run-scoring triple.
Sánchez connected off reliever Joe Ross with a solo blast in the seventh inning, his seventh homer of the season.
Freddy Tarnok (1-0) pitched the top of the sixth and earned the win.
Luzardo (6-3) gave up four runs and six hits in five-plus innings. The former Marlins left-hander struck out four and walked four.
Run scoring singles by Johan Rojas and Kyle Schwarber in the fifth gave the Phillies a 3-2 lead.
Wagaman put Miami on the board with his two-run blast in the second.
Quantrill retired the first nine before Trea Turner homered for the second straight game, connecting for a drive over the wall in left to lead off the fourth. The right-hander gave up three runs and four hits in four-plus innings.
Tuesday's start was moved up 30 minutes to reduce the viewing conflict with Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers. Key moment

Stanley Cup stays in Florida. Panthers win back-to-back championships
The Florida Panthers have won their second straight Stanley Cup Final, defeating the Edmonton Oilers 5-1 in Game 6 of the championship series Tuesday night. Why it matters: Florida is a hockey state. The Panthers are the first team to win back-to-back Stanley Cups since the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2021. Meanwhile, a Canadian team hasn't won the Cup since 1993. Player of the game: Sam Reinhart scored four goals, including two empty-netters, to stamp an exclamation point on the win. Better at home: The Panthers celebrated their victory in front of the home fans at Amerant Bank Arena, who cheered "We Want Cup!" and sang Bon Jovi's "Livin' on a Prayer." At Elbo Room on Fort Lauderdale Beach, a popular Panthers bar where players celebrated last year's championship, mini Stanley Cups decorated the bar as fans gathered to watch the game. In 2024, game-winner. In 2025, 4 goals. Reinhart thrives again in Cup clincher
Sam Reinhart was the Florida Panthers' hero when they won their first Stanley Cup last year, scoring the game-winning goal in Game 7 against the Edmonton Oilers. So it was only natural that Reinhart would not only be the key player again this year but would find a way to up his performance to a level the Panthers have never seen in the playoffs. Reinhart scored four goals in Florida's 5-1 win over the Oilers in Game 6 of the Cup Final on Tuesday to secure their repeat championship. It was the first time a Panthers player had ever recorded a hat trick in a postseason game, let alone put together a four-goal effort. In fact, only three players in NHL history have had a four-goal game in a Cup Final: Maurice Richard in 1957 for the Montreal Canadiens, Ted Lindsay in 1955 for the Detroit Red Wings and Newsy Lalonde in 1919 for Montreal. Reinhart opened scoring 4:36 into regulation with a beaut of an individual effort. He stole the puck from Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard in the neutral zone, charged forward, beat Oilers defenseman Mattias Ekholm and let off a wrist shot as he was falling in the slot that beat Stuart Skinner. Reinhart then pushed Florida's lead to 3-0 with 2:29 left in the second period when he tipped in an Aleksander Barkov shot after an excellent shift in the offensive zone from Florida's top line overall. Reinhart then sealed his hat trick and four-goal effort — and the Panthers sealed the game — with a pair of empty-net goals. Reinhart's hat trick is the 36th in a Stanley Cup Final in NHL history but only the second this century. Mark Stone recorded a hat trick in the Vegas Golden Knights' Cup-clinching Game 5 win over the Panthers in 2023. And he did all this while playing through a Grade 2 MCL strain he sustained after taking a low hit by Sebastian Aho in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference final against the Carolina Hurricanes that forced him to miss two games in that series. 'It took him a few games to get back to health,' Panthers coach Paul Maurice said. 'But if you're Sam Reinhart, who gets your story? Scored the game-winner in Game 7 [last year] and then you score four goals here. That's pretty good.'
