Union Minister Amit Shah inaugurates cooperative complex in Ahmedabad
Earlier on Friday, Union Minister Shah visited the Information and Library Network Centre (INFLIBNET) in Gandhinagar and conducted a review meeting for the development of libraries, calling the library a primary centre for learning about education, culture, and history.
Shah also planted a sapling on the premises.
In a post on X, Amit Shah said, 'The library is a primary centre for learning about education, culture, and history.'
'Today, I visited the Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) centre located in my Lok Sabha constituency, Gandhinagar, and reviewed the development of libraries. Through INFLIBNET, libraries are being continuously developed by integrating them with cutting-edge technologies, enabling them to also serve as support centres for curious children in the field of R&D. Additionally, the mobile app of 'Sastu Sahitya Vardhak Karyalaya' was launched. This app will prove to be very useful for book lovers in obtaining their favourite books,' he added.
Amit Shah offered prayers at the over 400-year-old Jagannath Temple in Ahmedabad on the occasion of Rath Yatra. He offered the 'mangala aarti' at 4 am and shared a heartfelt post on his official 'X' account, reflecting on his divine experience.
'On the sacred occasion of Rath Yatra, participating in the Mangla Aarti at Shri Jagannath Temple, Ahmedabad, is in itself a divine and extraordinary experience. The Union Minister also extended greetings to the nation on the occasion of the sacred Jagannath Rath Yatra, describing the festival as a 'unique confluence of faith and devotion.'

Anand Sharma wanted ‘younger leaders' to head foreign affairs wing, Congress names Salman Khurshid
Congress appointed Salman Khurshid as chairperson of the party's Foreign Affairs Department on Wednesday, days after senior leader Anand Sharma resigned, citing the need to entrust 'younger leaders' with the charge. Sharma, the former Union Minister, was born on 5 January 1953 and is 72 years old. Khurhsid, also a former Union Minister, was born on 1 January 1953 and is also 72. Hence, Khurshid is technically four days younger than Sharma. Khurshid, who served as the minister of external affairs previous Congress-led UPA government, will be assisted by Brijendra Singh and Arathi Krishna as vice-chairpersons of the department. Major leap: Kerala set to digitise all citizens' records
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: No need to worry about carrying crucial documents or misplacing or losing them. The state is set to take a major leap in governance innovation, by launching Digi Kerala 2.0, a new phase of its digital empowerment. On Thursday, the government will unveil an ambitious programme — DEED (Digitalisation of Every Essential Document) — aimed at digitising citizens' records by integrating them with DigiLocker, the Union government's flagship e-document service. Through DigiLocker, citizens can securely store all vital documents — birth and death certificates, land titles, educational certificates, licences and welfare entitlements — in digital form, with instant access. LSGD principal director Geromic George told TNIE that the digital documents, stored in DigiLocker, are legally equivalent to physical records and are universally accepted by government departments and institutions. 'We aim to implement the scheme in a campaign mode covering all households in the state. People can store, access and share important certificates securely anytime, anywhere. It's going to be a long-term process as we will have to create DigiLocker accounts and digitise all vital documents,' said Geromic George. The state has already implemented the DigiLocker system across 6,303 institutions. The LSGD is planning to provide an ID through KSMART to enable families to independently access all services online without assistance. 'K-SMART is planning to organise K-SMART clinics in panchayats and other local bodies to sensitise and digitally empower citizens,' Geromic George added. In the wake of growing cyber crimes, the Digi Kerala 2.0 will spearhead a campaign called 'Zero Cyber Crime Kerala'. As many as 10 lakh digital volunteers will be created across the state to organise awareness classes on cyber security and digital frauds. Additionally the campaign also aims to equip the public with the ability to identify fake news and propaganda circulating on social media platforms.
