Notre Dame baseball coach Shawn Stiffler gets contract extension
Notre Dame has extended the contract of Fighting Irish baseball coach Shawn Stiffler.
The Irish finished 32-21 in 2025, just missing the NCAA Tournament.
Reports indicate that Stiffler's contract will now run through 2030.
Stiffler has a 429-268 record as head coach, covering three seasons at Notre Dame and 10 seasons at VCU before that.
The team has been busy bringing in transfers -- Stiffler's extension should provide some stability as the roster turns over.

Here's what he said at Weber State's annual basketball alumni game, according to Isaac Fisher of The Ogden Standard-Examiner (hat tip Hoop Rumors). 'It's something that, my relationship with coach [Eric] Duft and this program means a lot to me, and seeing the success of the program means a lot to me. I feel like I can do a lot to help the program be successful, to help the players even individually continue to grow their careers past college, that's something that I'm passionate about... 'All of the resources that I have, I've got an opportunity to be able to create for the program, while they're in the program and even after the program, it's something I'm excited about. I'm looking forward to doing that work, looking forward to continue to lift up the university, lift up the program. It's going to be fun.' Weber State went 12-22 last season, but has had 20+ wins in two of the past four seasons. It's been a decade since the Wildcats advanced out of the Big Sky to the NCAA Tournament. Lillard was surprisingly waived-and-stretched by the Milwaukee Bucks this summer, then signed to return home to the Portland Trail Blazers. He will spend the coming season rehabbing from a torn Achilles suffered during last season's playoffs. Lillard will spend time this season mentoring the Trail Blazers' young stars such as Scoot Henderson, Toumani Camara and Yang Hansen. Now, it will have a new group to help mentor in Utah, as well.

Damian Lillard is going back to school. The nine-time NBA All-Star announced Saturday that he will serve as the general manager for the basketball program at Weber State, his alma mater, while recovering from a torn left Achilles this season. The 35-year-old Lillard signed a three-year, $42 million contract with the Trail Blazers, his original NBA team, in July after he was waived by the Bucks following two seasons in Milwaukee. Notre Dame RB coach Ja'Juan has high praise for Kedren Young and all of his running backs
It should come as no surprise the Notre Dame football running back's coach Ja'Juan Seider is praising his group, but it wasn't like you thought he would be doing on Saturday. One of the newest additions to the Irish coaching staff hasn't been with the team long, and looks like he's going to let the players performance decide if they'll play or not. One of those guys that he believes has earned the right to see the field is redshirt-freshman Kedren Young. Seider said that 'he's a kid who's ready to play,' although he's unsure of the role that Young will have. As for the rest of the room, one thing stood out to Seider about the unit, the fact that they all stayed despite opportunities to make more money and get more playing time elsewhere. 'It's so refreshing to be unselfish,' is how he put it, as he noted that they were all waiting their time even with him coming into the program. Seider will have plenty of talent to get the ball to this fall, and it's hard to see any of the options not being solid choices.
