Pedro Pascal proves that A-list celebrities have the same worries, woes, and quirks as the rest of us

No matter who you are, your body will start to slow down and Pascal is no exception. Indeed, having the world's eyes on you and being complimented on your universal sex appeal at the Critics Choice Awards, can be jarring, as Pascal recalls: 'I was in a sling, I was overweight, and when the camera cut to me, I didn't think anything could be further from the truth.'

Naked Gun star Liam Neeson's cheeky dig at man-of-of-the-moment Pedro Pascal

Liam Neeson joked about Last of Us star Pedro Pascal's packed work schedule, as the Taken actor made an appearance at an early screening of the reboot of 80s parody movie Naked Gun The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal is one of the most prolific actors in Hollywood at the moment, with the Chilean-American actor about to take on one of his biggest roles to date in the new Marvel movie Fantastic Four. ‌ And even Liam Neeson couldn't help himself, with the Naked Gun star making a cheeky dig about him at an early screening for his new movie. ‌ Neeson, 73, is starring as Frank Drebin Jr in the 80s parody's reboot, which is out in cinemas today, with r eviewers hailing it a "masterclass". Speaking at the New York screening, a video of the star has done the rounds on social media. ‌ Posted by entertainment reporter Jonathan Sim, the clips shows Neeson thanking his audience for going to see the movie. He jokes that the needs them to "please laugh out loud" at the funny moments. It comes after Taylor Swift sparks engagement rumours as fans spot Travis Kelce's lock screen Neeson goes on to quip: "Spoiler alert: there's no zombies, no superheroes, and Pedro Pascal isn't in this movie," with fans laughing at his comment. His joke highlights how Pascal's career seems to be going from strength to strength, with the 50-year-old cast in numerous new productions following 20 years of working his way up in smaller roles on TV and on stage. ‌ Those roles however have included the lead in Netflix series Narcos as well as Star Wars series The Mandalorian and HBO's hit show The Last of Us. He has also featured in films such as Wonder Woman 1984, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent and Gladiator II. This year, alongside Fantastic Four he will also feature in modern western Eddington as well as romantic comedy Materialists opposite Dakota Johnson. With his recent success, Parade magazine estimates his net worth at around $10 million. ‌ But despite his high profile, Pascal has managed to keep his private life largely under wraps. He made headlines back in March after he was spotted getting close to former Friends star Jennifer Aniston. The pair were spotted together in Los Angeles at a dinner that 'lasted three hours', as reported by The Mirror. They then spent the night at the Tower Bar at the Sunset Hotel in West Hollywood. Aniston and Pascal arrived separately after 8pm and left in separate ways three hours later, in photos seen by Daily Mail. Both opted for casual outfits for the evening and soon parted ways after having a conversation outside the parking valet area. ‌ Aniston and Pascal's dinner date comes amid speculation he might join her Apple TV series, The Morning Show. Despite the dating speculations, Pascal is thought to be single. Meanwhile, Liam has been romantically linked to Pamela Anderson, although they too are keeping quiet about their relationship status. Neeson was married to British actress Natasha Richardson from 1994, until she tragically died in 2009 following a head injury. ‌ The close bond between Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson has been the topic of conversation around the world as the pair continue to remain silent over whether or not they're in a relationship. But it looks as though the writing was on the wall as far back as last year when the Taken star declared his love for the former Baywatch icon. In an interview with People magazine, Liam, 73, candidly confessed to being "madly in love" with the mum of two. At the time, he told the publication: "With Pamela, first off, I'm madly in love with her." He added: "She's just terrific to work with. I can't compliment her enough, I'll be honest with you. No huge ego. She just comes in to do the work. She's funny and so easy to work with. She's going to be terrific in the film."

Pedro Pascal responds to misconceptions and his answer is so on-brand

Pedro Pascal seems pretty relaxed with how the world views him, as one of Hollywood's hottest leading men stepping into his superhero era. Hitting the big screen as Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic, in Marvel's retro-futuristic The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which has been met largely with positive reviews, continues a busy year for Pascal. He's also already broken hearts in The Last of Us, been to Cannes to promote new Ari Aster cowboy Covid film Eddington and teamed up with Dakota Johnson and Chris Evans for modern rom-com Materialists. And that's before mentioning his scene-stealing statement T-shirt at the Thunderbolts* London premiere in April. As someone who found A-list fame a little later in life thanks to turns in Game of Thrones and Narcos, the 51-year-old actor has always seemed relaxed about sharing his views. When we caught up with him at the UK launch event for The Fantastic Four: First Steps in London, Pascal had no records to set straight or corrections to issue with how fans see him. 'What is the biggest misconception about me? I don't know. I think I'm not aware of any misconceptions,' he mused to Metro. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video The turning on his usual cheeky charm, he added: 'Unless… if it's all positive, then they're all right!' A very on-brand answer for the internet's favourite actor/'daddy'. He similarly brushed off being crowned Harper Bazaar's fourth (do we see a link?) hottest man of all time, sharing mock outrage until he learned James Dean was number one. 'Okay fine. If we're going that far back, then fine by me!' Grabbing a few minutes too with Pascal's co-star Joseph Quinn, who plays Ben Grimm/The Thing, the Stranger Thing actor revealed he'd not reached out to nor heard from Michael Chiklis or Jamie Bell, who portrayed the part in the previous Fantastic Four movies, in 2005, 2007 and 2015. And in terms of his performance, he said it was all his own – and helped along by the cast, which also includes Vanessa Kirby and The Bear's Ebon Moss-Bachrach. 'I wasn't drawing from any kind of specific performance for this, I don't think,' he shared. 'Going into it, I knew that the role would be very dependent on the dynamic that was created from the other the actors, so I didn't go into it with any kind of specific manifesto or aiming or any kind of target. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video 'It presented itself as we started filming.' Director Matt Shakman also explained how his previous work on Wandavision had helped him prepare to take on a feature-length MCU movie. 'In some ways Wandavision was six hours done in roughly the same amount of time so it felt a little bit like I'd been swinging two or three bats, and now I could swing only one and focus on two hours instead of six!' he laughed. 'But all the things that I've done before I feel like have given me little tools that I put in my toolkit, whether its working on Game of Thrones or Monarch for Apple, you get familiar with different ways to accomplish VFX or stunts or building character, building words. I like to gather things as I go and it helps me with the next project.' To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Shakman also teased a scene that he's especially excited for fans to see in the film. More Trending 'There's something that happens in the middle of the movie that I'm particularly proud of that I feel draws on my own experience a little bit as a parent.' With Disney keeping the full film firmly under wraps until its week of release, we'll have to wait to see it to find out exactly what that is. The Fantastic Four: First Steps is in UK cinemas now. 'I'll never shut up': Fantastic Four's Pedro Pascal on using fame to highlight issues he cares about

Pedro Pascal is everywhere right now. You walk into the cinema and he's on most of the film posters there: Fantastic Four: First Steps, Eddington, The Materialists and The Uninvited. With that level of public attention, you wouldn't be shocked to see the actor become closed off. Shielded by a sea of publicists maintaining a studio's desired image and an influx of influencers replacing film reporters, public figures speaking their mind in Hollywood have become somewhat of a rarity. Perhaps this is why the delayed yet meteoric rise to fame for Pedro Pascal feels refreshing for his fans. In between self-promotion for his latest projects, the Chilean-American uses his fame to highlight causes he cares about by wearing "Protect The Dolls" T-shirts in public settings, posting about food blockades into Gaza and linking non-profit organisations, Doctors Without Borders and The Trevor Project, on his Instagram account where he has over 11 million followers. In a time where a single sentence can be taken out of context in a TikTok post or altered to suit a narrative driven by a headline (and yes, the irony of writing this does not go unnoticed), speaking candidly can feel like you're walking into a trap. "I think it's very easy to get scared no matter what you sort of talk about," the actor tells Sky News. "There's so many different ways that things can get kind of fractured and have a life of itself really." He adds: "It's sort of a business part of the way media can work really. There's one thing that you can say and no matter what your intention behind it, it is absolutely lost in all of these different headlines, I suppose, but I'll never shut up." It's the last line, "I'll never shut up", that echoes after our four minute and two second conversation in the midst of a days-long "press run" in London for the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The 50-year-old knows one misstep in an increasingly reactive media industry can shatter the careers of many. Pascal is aware of the dangers but uses his voice anyway. It's that decision that makes him "fantastic", maybe more so than his role as Dr Richard Reeds in The Fantastic Four: First Steps - a character quite literally weighed down with the worries of the world on his shoulders whilst simultaneously welcoming new life with his wife Sue Storm. The film, directed by WandaVision's Matt Shakman, stands alone in its own universe within the MCU and also features Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Joseph Quinn.
