On the opening day of its three-day all-India Prant Pracharak meeting in Delhi, the Sangh also took up atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh and Bengal, exploring ways to raise these concerns with the govt and other forums.
The meeting is reviewing organisational progress and finalising plans for centenary year celebrations from Oct 2. Participants reflected on RSS's history of stepping in during crises, including the 1962 war when swayamsevaks regulated traffic in Delhi and supplied relief at Nehru's request.
About 233 functionaries, including heads of 32 affiliates, are attending. RSS will organise social harmony meetings, and outreach campaigns, said publicity chief Sunil Ambekar.

Mysuru: Union minister HD Kumaraswamy Saturday challenged the Congress govt in Karnataka to get its ally in Tamil Nadu to approve the Mekedatu project, claiming he could obtain the Prime Minister's approval in just five minutes if it succeeded. "I stand by what I said earlier. Congress neither has the strength to convince the Tamil Nadu govt nor to confront it. Without that, the Mekedatu project cannot be implemented. Congress functionaries claimed they would implement the project. They should fulfill what they promised. They came to power after holding a padayatra in the name of Mekedatu. In the past two-and-a-half years, they have merely wasted time. If they now try to blame me, how is it justified?" The Mekedatu project is a proposed reservoir and drinking water project across the Cauvery river in Bengaluru South district. While Karnataka argues it is crucial to meet Bengaluru's drinking water needs and includes a hydropower component, Tamil Nadu opposes the project, fearing it would reduce the downstream flow in violation of Supreme Court orders and interstate water-sharing agreements. Taking a swipe at state minister Priyank Kharge's recent remark about banning RSS, Kumaraswamy said, "Forget banning RSS, Congress is getting banned everywhere. The people themselves are rejecting Congress. Let them first try to preserve their own existence. Don't give statements to divert attention from real issues." Alleging that Congress functionaries were targeting him due to political anxiety, he said, "They are afraid of me. That's why Congress leaders constantly chant my name. Ever since BJP and JD(S) formed an alliance, Congress has lost sleep. So they keep targeting me."

Survey underway to identify suitable candidates for Bihar polls, says RJD chief Lalu Prasad at national executive meeting
PATNA: Former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad was formally elected as national president of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Saturday. Though he was elected unopposed on June 24, a formal announcement about him being elected for the 13th term was made at the party's national council meeting on Saturday (July 5, 2025). Addressing workers at the national council meeting, Lalu exuded confidence that a new government with coalition partners would be formed in Bihar after assembly elections, barely three-four months away. He appealed to workers not to miss this opportunity and work hard to ensure the victory of coalition partners' candidates in elections. 'Is baar nahi chukna hai. Hum sablog mil-jul kar sarkar banayenge. Ek joot rahiye (Don't miss the opportunity this time. We will form the next government with coalition partners. So, remain united),' he told the workers amid applause from the gathering. RJD chief said that he had never compromised with the party's ideology and has always given priority to the organisation. He took credit for the implementation of the Mandal Commission recommendations and always followed Ram Manohar Lohia's ideology. He cautioned people against the BJP-RSS conspiracy to change the Constitution and ruin Indian democracy. 'BJP-RSS should be taught a lesson in the coming election. It will be possible only when you all remain united,' he added. He said party would give tickets in the forthcoming assembly elections based on the performance of the prospective candidates (workers) in their respective assembly constituencies. "A survey is being conducted by the party for this purpose. Tickets will be allotted to suitable candidates after consultation with Tejashwi,' he asserted. He said that he has handed over the mantle to his younger son Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, due to his poor health condition. He, however, said that he would be available for the party and its workers without caring for his health.

CM Fadnavis terms Uddhav Thackeray's speech 'rudali'
Pandharpur: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday took a dig at Shiv Sena-UBT chief Uddhav Thackeray, saying that he delivered a "rudali" (professional mourner) like speech at the joint rally. CM Fadnavis said Uddhav Thackeray's entire speech lacked mention of Marathi and focused on how his government was toppled, power and elections. "This was not a victory rally for Marathi, it was a Rudali. We have seen this Rudali at that place. Basically, Uddhav Thackeray is jealous that he could not do any work worth showing during the 25-year rule in BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation," CM Fadnavis said. CM Fadnavis further said, "Everyone has seen the way we have changed the face of Mumbai under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During his (Uddhav Thackeray) time, the Marathi people of Mumbai were exiled. They are jealous that we gave houses to the Marathi people of BDD Chawl, Abhyudaya Nagar, and Patra Chawl in the same place.
