The date for John Cena's final WWE match has officially been set. The 17-time world champion will have his retirement match on a Saturday Night's Main Event special on Saturday, December 13th, which will stream exclusively on Peacock.
The announcement was made as part of a larger story detailing a new multi-year deal between WWE and NBCUniversal for the classic Saturday Night's Main Event series.
John Cena's Final Match Is Set
John Cena's in-ring career officially has an end date. While an opponent and location for the December 13th event have not yet been confirmed, the long-standing expectation is that the show will take place at the TD Garden in Boston, as Massachusetts is Cena's home state.
The announcement puts to rest rumors that WWE was considering moving the December special to a later date to compete with an AEW pay-per-view.
A New Deal For A Classic WWE Show
Cena's retirement match will air on a newly positioned Saturday Night's Main Event. The classic series, which returned as a quarterly special in 2024, will now stream exclusively on Peacock. Previously, the show had been simulcast on the NBC broadcast network.

'Peacemaker' season 2 release schedule — when do new episodes come to HBO Max?
After a brief appearance in "Superman," John Cena's hilarious antihero has returned to our screens for "Peacemaker" season 2. The first season of the acclaimed HBO Max superhero action-comedy was a blast, and fans (myself included) have been waiting to see what the rebooted DC Universe has in store for Chris Smith. Well, after three years of waiting, we're finally about to find out, as "Peacemaker" season 2 premieres on HBO Max imminently. And with the official trailer teasing a run-in with the Justice Gang, plenty more action, and some parallel universe shenanigans, it sure looks like we're in for another thrilling season. Want to plan your viewing for the next couple of months? You can find a full breakdown of the "Peacemaker" season 2 release schedule below. "Peacemaker" season 2 premieres today (Thursday, August 21, 2025) at 9 pm. ET/PT on HBO Max. New episodes will continue to air on a weekly basis, with the season finale slated for Thursday, October 9, 2025. Based in the UK? "Peacemaker" season is set to premiere on Sky Max at 10 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025, with the finale set for Friday, October 10. Fans will also be able to stream the new series on NOW. Here's the full release schedule for "Peacemaker" season 2, including US/UK premiere dates and episode titles: Stream "Peacemaker" season 2 plus tons of great shows like "House of the Dragon", "The Pitt", "The White Lotus", and more, with plans starting from just $9.99/month. If you didn't know going in (or didn't read the schedule above), "Peacemaker" season 2 is eight episodes long. That makes "Peacemaker" season 2 equally as long as the first chapter, which also ran for eight episodes between January and February 2022. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. The only difference, really, is that the first series got a three-episode premiere, whereas "Peacemaker" season 2 is airing one episode at a time. Right now, we don't yet know what the future holds for "Peacemaker" after season 2, as no announcement has been made about the show's future just yet. Going into the new series, it would seem like everyone's keen for the main man to stick around, though. "Peacemaker" was already well-loved, but reviews for season 2 are even better — "Peacemaker" season 2 currently holds a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, compared to the first chapter's 93% critics' score. That sure seems like there's an appetite for more, right? James Gunn has been very coy about the character's DCU future, too. Recently, the DC Studios co-lead was asked by ComicBook whether Cena's superstar could head back to the big screen after his debut in 2021's "The Suicide Squad", or if he was stuck on the small screen — and Gunn gave nothing away. "I actually know the answer to that question," Gunn told the publication. "And I am not at liberty to say under penalty of Safran punishment, which is a loss of my knuckle. Every time I give away something, Peter Safran will take away another joint of my finger. It's very painful. He uses a cigar cutter", he joked. In other words, we'll just have to wait and see whether "Peacemaker" season 3 (or a "Peacemaker" movie) is part of the DCU's future plans or not. Tears at How Rescue Dog Sleeps in Forever Home After Life 'Alone in a Cage'
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. An adorable dog had the best sleep of his life as he settled into life in his forever home. Jennifer Aguilar, who posts to TikTok under the username @jenniferaguilar4104, showed the difference love can make to a dog's life as she shared a clip of the pup from his first night in his new home. Posted on August 18, Aguilar introduced the clip by writing: "'Late night finds' but it's just a video of his first night at home after waiting on a forever home all alone in a cage.'" In the video, set to lullaby-like music, Aguilar showcases her canine's new sleeping arrangement: on a special dog-sized sofa, wrapped in a cozy, blue blanket, a special T-shirt, and even his own plush teddy bear. The Maltipoo pup appears completely relaxed and in a deep sleep, not moving or opening his eyes as his new owner records his first safe sleep. Aguilar wrote in the caption: "Wym [what do you mean] no one picked him." Maltipoos are a cross breed between a Maltese and toy or miniature poodle, and despite not being recognized by the American Kennel Club, they are popular as family pets. Adult Maltipoos grow up to 14 inches tall and weigh up to 20 pounds, and are known for their friendly and active nature, according to a vet-reviewed report from PetMD. The Maltipoo sleeps soundly in blankets with a teddy on his first night at home. The Maltipoo sleeps soundly in blankets with a teddy on his first night at home. TikTok @jenniferaguilar4104 TikTok users were in pieces at Aguilar's video, watching it more than 277,000 times. Viewers shared their own stories in the comments, as one wrote: "My baby has the same blanket. It was his first blanket and he still has it." Another tearful commenter posted that they had "wind in my eye," while a third pointed out: "It's the sleeping on the side for me. That baby feels safe." "He looks so at peace," one commenter said, as another thanked Aguilar "for giving him a home where he feels safe." "His first sleep being loved," a third wrote, while a third summed it up: "He was waiting for you." Across the United States in 2024, 5.8 million dogs and cats entered shelters and rescues. Frank Caprio Thanks Fans in Final Video—'Remember Me'
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Retired Providence, Rhode Island, Judge Frank Caprio, celebrated worldwide for his compassionate courtroom moments, posted a heartfelt farewell to fans in his final video before passing. Why It Matters Caprio died on Wednesday, aged 88, following a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Known for his empathy toward defendants and plainspoken courtroom style, the judge, who presided over cases on his hit TV show Caught in Providence, had billions of views on social media. Michelle R. Smith/AP What To Know Before his death, Judge Frank Caprio shared a video message from his hospital bed, asking the public to pray for him. "Last year, I asked you to pray for me and it's very obvious that you did because I came through a very difficult period. Unfortunately, I've had a setback and I'm back in the hospital now and I'm coming to you again asking you to remember me in your prayers once more," Caprio said, his voice breaking. "And so I ask you again, if it's not too much, that you can remember me in your prayers. I'm a great believer in the power of prayers. I think the Almighty above is looking over us. So remember me please." @therealfrankcaprio As I continue this difficult battle, your prayers will lift my spirit. #judgefrankcaprio #neverforget #kindness #love ♬ original sound - Judge Frank Caprio The video, in which Caprio appeared with tears in his eyes, was posted less than 24 hours before his passing. Its caption read: "As I continue this difficult battle, your prayers will lift my spirit." The post has since garnered more than 3 million views on TikTok and 2.4 million on Instagram. Caprio first revealed his diagnosis in December 2023, announcing he had received the news on "one of the happiest days of the year for [him]"—his birthday. A fixture in Rhode Island's judiciary since 1985, Caprio served as a Providence Municipal Court judge and gained national recognition through the TV show Caught in Providence, which earned a Daytime Emmy nomination in 2021. It would receive two more, in 2022 and 2023. His trademark style of compassion in the courtroom produced viral moments—from inviting children to sit with him behind the bench to unveiling a "mini-judge" plushie of himself—and earned him the nickname "the nicest judge in the world." In a 2024 appearance on CBS Mornings, Caprio explained that his empathy came from his own upbringing in poverty, just blocks from the courthouse that now bears his name. "I'm just a small-town municipal court judge, just trying to do good. That's how I am, who tries to take into consideration the circumstances surrounding the people before me. And remember what my dad told me, when someone appears before you, put yourself in their shoes, imagine it's you before them. How do you want to be treated?" he said. He also spoke candidly about his illness: "It's not a pleasant experience to go to bed at night, say your prayers. And suddenly you have one extra thing you have to ask for. And that is, please help the treatment be successful for the pancreatic cancer. And I think we're on the way." Judge Caprio is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Joyce, along with their five children, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. What People Are Saying Caprio's son said in a statement: "On behalf of my entire family, I want to thank each and every one of you for your thoughts and your unwavering support for him throughout this journey. Your love lifted him in ways that words cannot describe." "He had great medical doctors to treat his physical illness. However, it was the love and the support that he received from all of you that lifted his spirits and boosted his soul to find the strength to fight on and outlive his diagnosis by a year and a half. So, in his memory, please, spread a little kindness today. I know he would love that. Dad we love you. May you rest in peace." Caprio's family said in a statement on Facebook: "Beloved for his compassion, humility, and unwavering belief in the goodness of people, Judge Caprio touched the lives of millions through his work in the courtroom and beyond. His warmth, humor, and kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew him."
