Josh Hines Allen opens up about his son Wesley's brave cancer battle and inspiring recovery
It all started with a phone call. Josh Hines‑Allen, a star defensive end for the Jacksonville Jaguars, found out early in 2025 that his seven‑year‑old son, Wesley, had acute promyelocytic leukemia.
For months they fought in hospital rooms, holding onto hope. The family stayed quiet at first, sharing little public detail. Now the prayers are working. Wesley is back to being a kid; playing, laughing, and even heading back to school. The NFL world is watching, hoping, and lifting him up every day.
Josh Hines‑Allen's son Wesley fought Leukemia with strength beyond his years
Wesley was diagnosed in January 2025 in Jacksonville, Florida, after he had a high fever and began bleeding from a tooth, which led his parents to seek medical help at Nemours Children's Health, Jacksonville.
His dad, Josh Hines‑Allen, missed the last game of the 2024 season due to this crisis. Over the next six to seven months, Wesley underwent chemotherapy at Nemours, a rigorous period that his parents described as the hardest time of their lives.
In July 2025, Josh announced via social media that Wesley is now in full remission and nearing the end of his treatment, with the final chemotherapy phase planned to wrap up by the end of August in Jacksonville.

Josh shared,
'We recently received the good news that Wesley is on his way to a full recovery,'
and Kaitlyn, his wife, added,
'He's swimming every day … running around … playing sports'
like any seven‑year‑old. Josh added,
'He's got back to being the big brother that he is'.
Josh and Kaitlyn Hines‑Allen turned their son's battle into a mission to help others
Inspired by their son's courage, Josh and Kaitlyn have started a charity effort through their nonprofit foundation, Four One For All. In 2025 they created a campaign called Four One For Hope.
Each month of the NFL season, they will support a different childhood cancer nonprofit: Nemours Children's Health in September, the American Cancer Society in October, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Jacksonville in November, and the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation in December.
Josh has said their goal is to help other families feel the same love and support they received. He praised his team's coaches and staff for checking in with him by asking,
'How's Wesley?'
rather than just,
'How are you?'
—showing real care for his family.
With Wesley winning his battle and the Hines‑Allen family giving back, the NFL world continues to stand behind them—with hope, with prayers, and with respect for a brave young boy's strength.

Freezing bread for gut health: Here's what science says about the viral social media trend
Image credits: Getty Images If there's one trend on social media that's as easy to follow as breathing, it's anything related to food. Influencers have made it an art to pick ingredients available at home and turn them into drool-worthy recipes that at least look aesthetic. If the latest trend in the culinary corner of social media is to be trusted and followed, then it seems the easiest way to make your bread healthier is by freezing it. A viral social media trend Yes, according to a now-viral post on Instagram , freezing your bread and then eating it is the best way to consume it. "If you take a bread and freeze it. And then you take a slice and toast it, that bread is ten times healthier than it was when you froze it." How so? Well, according to the video, "what happens is that carbohydrate in that bread turns into a fibre called resistant starch, which our gut bacteria love. It's like the best food, but also, what happens is it lowers the calories. So you not only get a bread that is healthier for your gut, but also lowers blood sugar, and lessens calories." The doctor suggested doing the trick with sourdough bread and whole-grain bread. What does science say? Image credits: Getty Images Well, in a rare turn of events, it looks like science agrees. In a study published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition, ten healthy subjects evaluated white bread in four different storage and preparation conditions, including fresh, frozen and defrosted, toasted and toasted after freezing and defrosting. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like What's Really Going On in These 45 Unbelievable Photos? Click Here Undo The blood glucose was lower by 39% in the homemade white bread that was frozen, defrosted and toasted as compared to the commercial one. Why does this happen? The change in temperature causes some of the carbohydrate to convert into resistant starch. This starch resists digestion in the small intestine and rather travels to the large intestine, where it feeds the 'good' gut bacteria. Thus, it affects the glycaemic response and insulin sensitivity and also boosts gut health. Interestingly, not only bread, but resistant starch can also be found in other cooked and chilled starch foods as well, such as potatoes, pastas and some types of rice. It provides nutrients to the microbes living in the colon, improves insulin sensitivity and also lowers cholesterol, thus being healthy for the body's metabolism. While the method is proven, it has not been deeply evaluated for its repercussions. For now, the takeaway remains that when it comes to bread, it's better to freeze and eat, as it will help the body digest it positively and also lower the blood sugar levels.

'If India lose this series …': Former England captain says pressure mounting on Gautam Gambhir
India cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir (AP Photo) NEW DELHI: Former England captain Michael Atherton has sounded the alarm bells for India head coach Gautam Gambhir , warning that a third consecutive Test series loss could put the former opener under intense pressure just a year into his tenure. Live Score: India vs England 5th Test India trail 1-2 in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England and need a win in the fifth and final Test at The Oval to avoid yet another series defeat. Gambhir's stint has been rocky in red-ball cricket, having already overseen a 0-3 whitewash at home against New Zealand and a 1-3 defeat to Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier this year. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! Speaking on Sky Sports ahead of the series finale, Atherton didn't hold back: 'They've lost two series in a row. They lost at home to New Zealand 3-0 and they lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 3-1. If they lose this series, then yeah, he's under pressure as a coach.' India vs England 5th Test Preview: Can Shubman Gill's India level the series at The Oval? Highlighting the weight of expectations that comes with leading India, Atherton added: 'India, with all their resources and population strength, they're not a team that people are patient with. They're expected to win every time they walk onto the park. So, three Test series defeats in a row would be a problem for him." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Use an AI Writing Tool That Actually Understands Your Voice Grammarly Install Now Undo Poll Do you think Gautam Gambhir should be under pressure if India lose the 5th Test against England? Abhimanyu Easwaran's father breaks silence on son's never ending wait: 'I don't understand...'
Beckenham: India's captain Shubman Gill with teammate Abhimanyu Easwaran arrives for a training session ahead of the fourth Test cricket match between India and England, at The County Ground, in Beckenham, England. (PTI Photo/R Senthilkumar)(PTI07_17_2025_000114A) Top-order batter Abhimanyu Easwaran wasn't picked in India's line-up for the fifth Test against England, extending his wait for a Test debut to 961 days since first being selected in the Indian Test squad. Easwaran didn't get a chance in the ongoing Test series against England, nor in the last edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series. The Indian team made four changes to their lineup for the final Test, with Karun Nair, Dhruv Jurel, Prasidh Krishna, and Akash Deep being included. "I'm not keeping a count of the number of days that Abhimanyu has been waiting for his Test debut. I am counting the years; it has been three years now. What is the job of a player? It is to score runs. He has done that. People said he didn't perform in two India A matches during the last tour of Australia and didn't get into the team, which is fair enough. But Karun Nair wasn't in the team during the period when Abhimanyu performed before the BGT. Karun wasn't picked for the Duleep Trophy or the Irani Trophy. Abhimanyu scored close to 864 runs if you consider the period from last year to the current year," said Abhimanyu's father Ranganathan Easwaran in an exclusive interaction with by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Libas Purple Days Sale Libas Undo Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. Ranganathan stated that he has been interacting with Abhimanyu during the ongoing Test series against England and providing words of encouragement. India vs England 5th Test Preview: Can Shubman Gill's India level the series at The Oval? "My son looks a little depressed, but that is bound to happen. Some players jump the gun based on IPL performances which earn them a spot in the Test team. IPL performances should not be counted while selecting the team for the longest format. Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy, and Irani Trophy should be the basis for Test selection," he said. Former India cricketer Arun Lal , who earlier served as the head coach of the Bengal cricket team, stated that he is absolutely baffled by Abhimanyu's non-selection for such an extended period of time. Poll Should Abhimanyu Easwaran have been selected for the fifth Test against England? Yes, he deserves a chance No, other players are more deserving "I have no idea why he isn't being picked in the lineup. It has been so long. Abhimanyu has been performing well and delivering consistent performances. The team management doesn't seem to have too much confidence in him," said Lal. Abhimanyu's coach Vijayakumar Madyalkar termed the cricketer's preparation for the Test series against England "brilliant," stating that he was eagerly awaiting an opportunity to play. "He asked for specific bouncing tracks to negotiate the pace and swing. Abhimanyu would bat for two hours in the morning and one hour in the evening, barring his usual fitness and gym schedule. He was ready to negotiate any challenge that came his way. Abhimanyu would have definitely done very well if he was given an opportunity," stated Madyalkar. India currently trail 1-2 in the five-match Test series against England. Both teams are missing high-profile players, with Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes, and Jasprit Bumrah among the noteworthy omissions.
