Astonishing moment drunk driver flips his car on its side before driving away - as he is jailed for 14 months
This is the shocking moment a drunk driver flies into the air after trying to cut in between two cars while crossing a 'sleeping policeman' speed bump.
Danail Angelov, 20, sent a black Fiat 500 flying when he raced over the speed bump on a quiet residential street in the Blaenymaes area of Swansea, south Wales.
Dramatic footage shows the car become airborne on April 22, as he collided with a silver Ford Puma which narrowly missed a pedestrian amidst the carnage.
The Puma - with a mother and son onboard - was forced off the road and instead slammed into a garden wall.
After ricocheting into a passing white Skoda driven by a taxi driver, the black motor plummeted onto its side before sliding across the road.
When the vehicle landed back on its wheels, the 20-year-old drove away from the dramatic scene.
Angelov was found by police a short time later in an 'agitated' state in a charity shop where he was being shouted at by members of the public.
The 20-year-old who was at the wheel of his uncle's car - which he had taken without consent - was over the drink-drive limit at the time of the crash.
A taxi driver, who was travelling in a white Skoda towards the Fiat 500, later attended hospital for the injuries he sustained during the crash.
Angelov was jailed to 14 months at Swansea Crown Court after police said it was 'miraculous' that no-one was seriously hurt during the incident.
Emily Bennett, prosecuting, told the court that at lunchtime on April 22 this year Angelov was driving a Fiat 500 car on Broughton Avenue, Swansea.
She said he overtook the Ford Puma car in front of him just as a white Skoda taxi was coming in the opposite direction.
She said Angelov drove between the two vehicle and clipped the Puma and was flipped onto two wheels and into the side of the taxi.
Angelov of Swansea pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle-taking, failing to stop after a road accident, drink driving and driving without a license.
He was jailed for 14 months at the city's Crown Court.
Sgt Robert Richards of South Wales Police lambasted the young man for his 'dangerous actions'.
'Danail Angelov could have injured a number of people with his reckless and dangerous actions,' he said.
'The taxi driver, who was just going about his daily business, had to attend hospital to be inspected for whiplash and concussion.
'There was also a child pedestrian walking on the pavement at the time of the collision, and it is a miracle that one of the three vehicles didn't end up striking them and causing them serious injury.
'The fact that he then drove off from the scene is a sad indictment of his character.
'It is only right that he goes to prison.'

New single-motor Skoda Enyaq SportLine 85 goes the distance with 356-mile range
After launching initially with only a dual-motor layout, Skoda has added single-motor power to the Enyaq's SportLine trim with prices starting from £47,260. Available to order from 12 June, the Enyaq SportLine 85 also comes in Coupé form, which ups the price to £49,160 – meaning the single-motor SportLine 85 comes in at £1,500 cheaper than the dual-motor SportLine 85x. Advertisement - Article continues below The single-motor version features the same 77kWh battery, so range has been improved. While it can't quite match the regular Enyaq Edition 85's 359-mile and 365-mile range figures (for SUV and Coupé), the SportLine 85 goes further than the 85x, with 354 miles for the SUV and 356 miles for the sleeker Coupé. Power comes from the same electric motor found elsewhere in the Enyaq single-motor range – a rear-mounted unit with 282bhp and 545Nm of torque (the same total bhp output you get in the dual-motor). The SportLine 85 completes 0-60mph in 6.5 seconds, which is exactly the same as the dual-motor – as is the 111mph top speed. Charging speeds stay the same as other 77kWh Enyaqs, with a 135kW rate enabling a 10-80 per cent top-up in around 28 minutes. Despite the cost saving over the 85x, the SportLine 85 gets the same equipment as standard. This includes 20-inch alloy wheels, SportLine bumpers front and rear and gloss black exterior accents. There's also sports suspension that lowers the Enyaq by 15mm at the front and 10mm at the rear plus 'progressive dynamic steering' taken from the range-topping vRS. Inside, you'll find a head-up display, front sport seats, a sports steering wheel and an upgraded sound system from Skoda's audio partner Canton. Want the latest car news in your inbox? Man found cowering in back garden with a stash of Class A drugs
Man found cowering in back garden with a stash of Class A drugs Concerns were raised in court the 22-year-old will get an "education in criminality" while in prison Rees Morris (Image: South Wales Police ) A man was caught dealing Class A drugs twice in a matter of weeks - first in Weston-super-Mare and then 50 miles away in Cardiff. Rees Morris was found hiding in a back garden in the Welsh city with a stash of crack cocaine following a search of a house. In the house officers found a diary containing a "tick list" of moneys owed along with "rap lyrics referring to Class A drugs". Cardiff Crown Court heard 22-year-old Morris has no previous convictions and that concerns have been raised about the "education" in crime he may receive in prison. Emma Meadows, prosecuting, told the court that the first offence happened in Weston-super-Mare in Somerset on January 19 this year when the defendant was caught on CCTV carrying out what appeared to be drug deal on the streets - she said a woman was seen handing over money to the defendant and in return was given a small "white item". The court heard the woman was located by police and spoken to, and she admitted buying drugs from the defendant. Morris was subsequently located, arrested, and searched and was found with four £10 notes. He was not in possession of any drugs. The defendant was released on bail. For the latest court reports sign up to our crime newsletter The prosecutor said Morris came to the attention of police again on February 27, this time in Cardiff. She said officers in the Grangetown area became suspicious of the activities of two men in a parked white BMW on Wedmore Road who appeared to be carrying out an "exchange" with males who approached them, and they noted the details of the vehicle. The same BMW was spotted again later that day parked outside a property on nearby Stafford Road. The prosecutor said officers subsequently executed a search of the property - the defendant was not present but was spotted hiding in a neighbouring garden and was seen to be ripping a black plastic bag and trying to dispose of the contents. Police recovered a bag containing 3.5g of crack cocaine from the spot where Morris had been hiding. A search of the Stafford Road house uncovered more black packages of the type recovered from the garden along with weighing scales and a red diary containing a so-called "tick list" of moneys owed and "rap lyrics referring to Class A drugs". Read about a man who was importing an industrial chemical from China and using it to make and sell dangerous "diet pills" Rees Morris, aged 22, of Earlham Grove, Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, had previous pleaded guilty to being concerned in offering to supply cocaine - Somerset offending - and possession of crack cocaine with intent to supply when he appeared in the dock for sentencing. He has no previous convictions. Steve Burnell, for Morris, said the defendant had written a letter to court which described how being arrested and remanded had been a "massive reality check" for him. He said a pre-sentence report prepared for the sentencing hearing highlighted concerns about the "education in relation to criminality" the defendant may receive in prison. Article continues below With one-third discounts for his guilty pleas, judge Eugene Egan sentenced Morris to 40 months in prison comprising 20 months for each offence to run consecutively. The defendant will serve up to half the 40 months in custody before being released on licence to serve the remainder in the community.
