Benjamin Nygren in knowing Celtic namedrop as he tells fans exactly what he hopes to bring to Parkhead

The winger becomes the Hoops' latest summer recruit as he spoke for the first time since making the move to the champions
Benjamin Nygren namedropped the King of Kings as he showed he knows his Celtic history.
Brendan Rodgers finally landed his man from Danish side, FC Nordsjælland on a five-year deal as he continues his summer spree.

The 23-year-old is the latest Swede to follow in a long line of predecessors and the attacker was quick to show the Hoops faithful of his knowledge of those who had played for the club before him.

Speaking to Celtic TV on his move, he said: "I feel amazing. It is so nice to be here. I have been looking forward to this so much and can't wait to celebrate a lot of victories.
"I know of course Henrik Larsson, the King of Kings, a big legend here. I play with his son Jordan now. I also know Carl Starfelt and Gustaf Lagerbielke. Freddie Ljungberg was here for a while and Mikael Lustig."
Nygren burst onto the scene as a 17-year-old and despite his young years, he comes with a wealth of top team experience. He's played at the likes of IFK Goteborg, Genk and Heerenveen before his latest spell in Denmark.
He is also a full international for Sweden and while he may be one of the younger men in his new dressing room, he wants to bring his leadership skills having been skipper at his old club in his final six months in Denmark.
He continued: "I am a player that wants to create a lot of chances and go towards goal.
"I am a link between the defence and offence and I can run a lot.

"I have a high work rate both offensively and defensively. That is what I am best at.
"I can score goals, create chances from a bit behind. I come as a second wave and I am a player who wants to go towards goal and if we are leading 1-0, I want us to be 2, 3 and 4-0 and so on.
"I am an offensive minded player but I also try to do my best in all parts of the game.

"Something I didn't mention I had my break through when I was very young so even though I am 23-years old I have over 200/250 games or something so I have a lot of experience.
"Also, I had the band [captaincy] in Nordsjælland for the last half year. It is something I want to bring."

Ayr United in mourning as tributes paid to iconic defender Rikki Fleming

Former teammates have led tributes to one of the stalwarts of Ally MacLeod's famous side. Ayr United are mourning the loss of another great with the death of iconic defender Rikki Fleming at the age of 78. ‌ Ice cool Rikki, who began his career with Rangers, spent 10 years at Somerset Park after being signed by Ally MacLeod from Kilwinning Rangers in November 1968. ‌ He went on to make more than 350 appearances as an Honest Man and was part of the team widely acknowledged as one of Ayr's greatest ever: Stewart, Malone, Murphy, Fleming, Quinn, Mitchell, Young, Ferguson, Ingram, McCulloch, Rough. ‌ Rikki was a standout in the team which beat Rangers 2-1 in September 1969 before a record crowd of 25,225, a game which is etched in the memory of those privileged to be there. In March 1974, he played for the Scottish League against the Football League at Maine Road. He won the Ayr Supporters' Association player of the year award that season for the second time and was revered as a fans' favourite. ‌ Rikki played a key part as Ayr qualified for the inaugural Premier Division in 1975 where they held their own for three seasons. He was sold to Hibs for £10,000 in 1978 for a £10,000 transfer fee before finishing his senior career with Berwick Rangers. Former skipper and assistant manager Davie Wells recalled: 'Rikki was totally dedicated, always unflappable and was so good in the air. ‌ "He was a wonderful player and used to share a few laughs with George 'Dandy' McLean, who like him had played for Rangers before joining Ayr.' Striker Neil Hood was a close pal of Rikki both on and off the park, spending foreign holidays with him when they were Somerset teammates. ‌ He said: 'He was a super guy and a fantastic footballer. It was somewhat ironic that he went on to become a taxi server because when he was at Ayr he couldn't drive and relied on public transport and teammates for lifts. 'We used to go to Glasgow dance halls together and his famous chat-up line was always the same. I'm Rikki, ex-Rangers and now a superstar with Ayr United.' Former Ayrshire Post Sports Editor Mike Wilson reckons Rikki was one of the classiest players to pull on the black and white. ‌ He said: 'Rikki was a star in a golden era for Ayr in the late 60s and 70s under Ally MacLeod who led them into the Premier Division. 'He formed a formidable partnership with the hard as nails Stan Quinn and they were the perfect foil for each other. Rikki was always unruffled no matter the opponent, a real class act who served the club well for 10 years.' Rikki and teammate Dick Malone were inducted into the Ayr Hall of Fame in 2010. Rikki, who had progressed dementia, had spent the last six months of his life in a care home before passing away.

Ex-Celtic star Ismaila Soro goes on trial with Premiership club as he sets up shock return to Scotland

FORMER Celtic star Ismaila Soro is reportedly training with Scottish Premiership new boys Falkirk. The ex-Hoops midfielder, signed by Neil Lennon in 2020, has been released by Israeli club Beitar Jerusalem this summer and is looking for a new club. 3 Soro in action for the Hoops Credit: Kenneth Ramsay 3 It didn't quite work out for Soro at Celtic Credit: Kenneth Ramsay 3 Falkirk boss John McGlynn has reportedly offered Soro a trial Credit: Kenny Ramsay Soro scored one goal in 43 appearances for Celtic during his three years at the club and failed to make an impact at Parkhead. He was then shipped out to Portuguese side Arouca on loan before a permanent switch to Beitar Jerusalem followed in the summer of 2023. The Bairns are looking to strengthen their midfield, with just one new addition in that area this summer in the form of Leicester City youngster Henry Cartwright on a season-long loan. They've also brought in former Hoops goalkeeper Scott Bain, Lewis Neilson on loan from Hearts and veteran striker Brian Graham from Partick Thistle. McGlynn has previously said he is looking to bring in two or three more players before the end of the window, but needs to wait to see what bigger clubs do down south before Falkirk can make their move. But the Daily Record is reporting that the Bairns' boss is offering the 27-year-old Soro a trial to see if he can win a deal at the Falkirk Stadium. Falkirk are in the top flight for the first time in 15 years after back to back title wins in League One and the Scottish Championship. They enjoyed an highly impressive unbeaten season in League One, before securing the Championship title on the last day of last season against Hamilton Accies. This season they topped their Premier Sports Cup group before beginning their league campaign with a 2-2 draw at home to Dundee United. They then fell to a 3-1 defeat away to fellow new boys Livingston last weekend. Falkirk fans invade the pitch as promotion to the Premiership is confirmed Falkirk next go to Celtic in the last 16 of the Premier Sports Cup on Friday, before welcoming Hibs to the Falkirk Stadium the following Saturday. After that it's a trip to Pittodrie to face Aberdeen before the international break. Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page

Besiktas president confirms talks for Rangers transfer

The Turkish left-back moved to Ibrox in 2022 but could now be set for a return to his former club after an injury-hit three years in Glasgow. Besiktas president Serdal Adalı said: "We've spoken with Ridvan Yılmaz. "Nothing has been finalised. "We're talking to his agent and his club." However, he could be set to leave Rangers on a permanent basis after a lack of game time under new manager Russell Martin. The left-back has not featured under Martin and has been replaced by new signing Max Aarons. Aarons, traditionally a right-back, has been favoured on the left in recent matches. Martin said last week: "With Ridvan, we've had an honest conversation and he's sizing up his options, there are a couple of clubs interested in him so we'll wait and see what happens." Besiktas are now in talks with Yilmaz and his representatives about a permanent switch.
