As Odisha gears up for the grand Rath Yatra, Reliance Industries Limited, in close collaboration with the Puri district administration, has launched a comprehensive series of efforts to ensure that visitors enjoy a safe, comfortable, and enriching journey.
The annual chariot festival in Puri draws lakhs of devotees who gather to witness the majestic procession of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra from the Jagannath Temple to the Gundicha Temple.
Key highlights of Reliance's Seva initiative:
Anna Seva: Reliance Foundation is serving hot, wholesome meals to lakhs of devotees and police personnel at six key locations along the yatra route, ensuring no one goes hungry.
Hygiene Focus: Installing contactless sanitisers at food stalls, supplying garbage bags for cleanliness in collaboration with the municipality, and extending sanitation amenities to police camps.
Crowd Management: Collaborating with municipal and police authorities to guide devotees with clear direction boards and markers, ensuring smooth navigation for visitors from afar.
Volunteer Support: Over 4,000 trained volunteers, wearing identifiable uniforms, will manage crowds and oversee water points to keep devotees hydrated in the summer heat.
Comfort in Heat: Distributing over 1.5 lakh eco-friendly hand fans to help pilgrims beat the heat.
Police Support: Setting up 100 police aid posts with shelters for on-duty personnel, offering accessible help points for devotees.
Weather Preparedness: Keeping the rainy season in mind, 3,500 raincoats have also been distributed among police staff. Volunteers, municipal staff, and police personnel will be provided with refreshment kits.
Earlier this year, during Maha Kumbh 2025, Reliance had engaged in service for several lakhs of visitors in Prayagraj with initiatives from meals to health to transport services. With a strong commitment to supporting communities during spiritual events, Reliance has been demonstrating a deep commitment to ensuring a safe, healthy experience for all. The activities during this year's Rath Yatra at Shri Kshetra are yet another opportunity to serve humanity and the divine.

Pradhan inaugurates projects worth 4.75cr at Biragobindpur
Bhubaneswar: On the eve of Rath Yatra, Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday inaugurated various beautification projects worth around Rs 4.75 crore under Indian Oil 's corporate social responsibility (CSR) at Biragobindpur in Puri district. The projects inaugurated include a community hall, a multi-purpose skill training centre, a yoga centre, toilets with lighting, drinking water facilities, pond beautification, and park development. During a separate event, Pradhan said these projects will help transform the village of Biragobindpur into a tourist hub. He said women can receive training in sewing, handicrafts, and Pattachitra in the multi-purpose skill training centre. "Our village girls can acquire computer education and stay informed about global news. This initiative will ensure preservation of our heritage and traditions while providing training according to current needs," he added. These projects will make this village a centre of art, skill development, and knowledge dissemination. On June 3, 2022, Pradhan laid the foundation stone for these projects in the village. "Biragobindpur is a historic village. I visited this village during my childhood to witness Kali puja on the invitation of friends," he added. Among others, Puri MP Sambit Patra was present.

Koraput supplies 1st batch of organic kalajeera rice to Puri temple
1 2 Koraput: In a proud milestone for tribal heartland, Koraput district administration flagged off the inaugural supply of organic kalajeera rice from Shabar Shreekhetra, Koraput to the Jagannath Temple, Puri, on Thursday. The initiative, launched on the auspicious occasion of Netrotsav, marks the beginning of the Amrut Anna Yojana, which aims to prepare Mahaprasad using organic rice. "It's a proud moment for tribal farmers of the district. As it has been decided by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration, the rice will be used regularly in "Kotha Bhogo" and Mahaprasad during this year's Rath Yatra and beyond. Also, a dedicated Amrut Anna sales counter will be opened at the temple to offer organic Mahaprasad to devotees," said collector (Koraput) Keerthi Vasan V. The journey from Koraput to Puri also symbolizes the socio-cultural empowerment of tribal communities, promoting organic agriculture, food safety, and natural resource conservation. The initiative is expected to enhance the economic resilience of small holder farmers while placing Koraput firmly on India's GI map, he added. With support from the state govt and Nabard, it received a Geographical Indication (GI) tag, opening new markets and boosting demand across India and overseas. In kharif 2024, over 1,800 farmers across eight blocks of Koraput cultivated kalajeera rice on 1,365 acres. For the first time, 1,900 quintals of paddy were directly procured through independent mandis set up by farmer groups. This year, the cultivation target has been scaled up to 2,000 acres, including indigenous varieties.
