What Are The 10 Most Iconic NFL Stadiums?

Fox Sports03-07-2025
NFL stadiums can be memorable for a multitude of reasons — from history to culture to design.
These venues can be unique, whether they're old, renovated or newly built. Some stadiums stand out even further because they present an incomparable experience for both fans and players, making them undoubtedly iconic.
That said, we've rounded up the 10 most renowned NFL stadiums in the country. What are the 10 most iconic NFL stadiums? 10. SoFi Stadium (Chargers, Rams)
Los Angeles's SoFi Stadium — which opened in 2020, making it the newest stadium in the NFL — is home to both the Chargers and the Rams. While it doesn't have the depth of history to rival some of the other stadiums on this list, it's iconic for its futuristic, sleek design. Its open-air concept gives it the feel of an outdoor arena with natural light and ventilation, but it still has a dome to limit the effect of weather. SoFi Stadium also boasts a 360-degree video board that greatly enhances the fan experience. For future teams seeking new stadiums, SoFi could be their example. 9. Lincoln Financial Field (Eagles)
Lincoln Financial Field, affectionately known as "The Linc," has been made famous by its fans and its history. The Eagles started playing there during the 2003 season and have brought two Super Bowls home since. Their fans support them like no other franchise with constant rambunctiousness that makes for a lively tailgate experience. 8. Empower Field at Mile High (Broncos)
The Broncos have a built-in advantage already because of their familiarity with playing a mile above sea-level, but they maximize that advantage with a tradition that began at Denver's previous stadium; fans stomp on Empower Field's steel floors, which creates an intimidating sound known as "Mile High Thunder." 7. Caesars Superdome (Saints)
Caesars Superdome earns its name by being not only the biggest dome stadium in the league, but it's also the biggest dome structure in the world. It has also hosted eight Super Bowls, the most of any stadium in the NFL. 6. Acrisure Stadium (Steelers)
Acrisure Stadium, formerly known as Heinz Field before its 2022 rebrand, has one of the best city-skyline views of any stadium in the NFL. It also perfectly embodies the city, as it's designed with steel and glass to reflect Pittsburgh's industrial heritage. Acrisure Stadium is also home to one of the greatest fan experiences, which includes the "Terrible Towel" and the fourth-quarter ritual of playing "Renegade" to hype up the fans and players. 5. Lumen Field (Seahawks)
Lumen Field is unique for its grandstands. It's built to maximize sound with 30-plus uninterrupted rows of bleachers behind one end zone that are designed to have sound echo off the other parts of the stadium. Seahawks fans are known as "The 12s" for their undying and ear-piercing passion, which is maximized by the architecture of the stadium. 4. Soldier Field (Bears)
Opened in 1924, Soldier Field is the NFL's oldest stadium. Its name is an homage to U.S. soldiers who died in World War I. The stadium's design is inspired by the Roman Colosseum, as it's buttressed by Doric columns. Bears fans who attend games at Soldier Field are some of the most loyal despite being deprived of a Super Bowl for almost 40 years. 3. AT&T Stadium (Cowboys)
AT&T Stadium is one of the most impressive dome stadiums in the NFL. It has the largest retractable roof and the largest high-definition screen of any stadium. Apart from hosting Cowboys games, AT&T Stadium is also home to college football's Cotton Bowl, the East-West Shrine game, and oftentimes the Big 12 Championship Game. It will also host nine World Cup games — the most of any venue — when the tournament comes to North America in 2026. 2. Arrowhead Stadium (Chiefs)
Arrowhead Stadium has skyrocketed in popularity this century with the Chiefs being perennial championship contenders. It's one of the loudest stadiums in the NFL and peaks in decibels when Chiefs fans participate in the "Arrowhead Chop." The Chiefs have rewarded their fans, bringing home three Super Bowls in the last six seasons. 1. Lambeau Field (Packers)
If you want the true American football game experience, look no further than Lambeau Field. Tucked in a community on the bay of Lake Michigan, Lambeau Field presents a big-game feel in a small-town atmosphere. Packers fans, aka "Cheeseheads," are as passionate as any fan-base, filling stadium to the brim whether it's a blizzard or clear skies.

3 Chargers players on the roster bubble who helped themselves vs. Rams

The Chargers lost to the Rams, 23-22, in their third preseason game. Despite the outcome, several players boosted their chances of earning a spot on the 53-man roster or practice squad with strong performances. Following the game, here's a look at which roster-bubble players helped their cause: WR Luke Grimm Backend of the roster spots can be won on special teams, and Grimm stood out in that department on Saturday. Grimm, the undrafted rookie out of Kansas, returned a punt for a 66-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to give the Chargers a 22-17 lead. He almost had another punt return TD the weekend before against the Saints, but he was tripped up. It'll be a tall task to beat out WR Derius Davis for return duties, but plays like this could at least warrant a spot on the practice squad. DT TeRah Edwards Edwards might have had the best play of the preseason, as he picked off Rams quarterback Stetson Bennett and returned it 27 yards. Defensive coordinator Jesse Minter dropped the former Illinois product into coverage. He secured the football into his chest and truck-sticked Bennett along the way before being brought down. Like Grimm, he will likely be a practice squad candidate. But plays like this will carry on with him forever. S Tony Jefferson Jefferson, the preseason MVP, finished with three tackles and a pass breakup at the goal line on a fourth-down play, which prevented a Rams touchdown. He also added a special teams tackle. Jefferson leans more toward a near-lock to make the roster, but RJ Mickens, the sixth-round pick, could fend him off if the Chargers choose to only carry four safeties on the initial 53-man roster.

Vikings' male cheerleaders hit back in social media post after fan backlash

Two male Vikings cheerleaders don't seem to be taking any of the backlash that they've gotten from some football fans to heart since the team announced their inclusion in the 2025 squad in a post on social media. Blaize Shiek and Louie Conn will be members of the Vikings cheer team, which sparked criticism and even some fans threatening to not be fans of the team anymore. However, Shiek seemed to address the controversy by poking fun at all of the people discussing him. The Vikings also responded to the controversy in a statement last week, defending Shiek and Conn. Raiders' Ashton Jeanty Puts NFL on Notice After Breakout Preseason Performance

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Las Vegas Raiders have been mostly an NFL laughingstock for the past 20 years or so. Although they have a new head coach in the proven Pete Carroll and a proven veteran quarterback in Geno Smith, few are predicting any type of major improvement for them. However, there is one reason for Raiders fans to be hopeful for the immediate future: Ashton Jeanty, the team's talented rookie running back who could have serious star potential. In the Raiders' first preseason game on Aug. 7, Jeanty got just three carries and didn't net any positive yardage. But on Saturday against the San Francisco 49ers, he showed a flash of what he could become in the years to come. In seven carries, he gained 33 yards, and early in the second quarter, he scored a touchdown. Earlier in that same drive, he had a 13-yard run during which he overpowered 49ers cornerback Deommodore Lenior. "I've arrived, and it's time to keep going and make plays for this team," Jeanty said, per ESPN. Photo byComing into April's NFL draft, Jeanty was considered by many to be the best running back available. He spent three years at Boise State University, and in 2024, he abused opponents to the tune of 2,601 rushing yards and 29 rushing touchdowns. That prolific production earned him his second Mountain West (MW) Offensive Player of the Year award, as well as MW Male Athlete of the Year award, the Maxwell Award, the Doak Walker Award and the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award. The 21-year-old is undersized for the tailback position in the NFL at 5-foot-8, but he's extremely difficult to tackle thanks to his speed, quickness and shiftiness. Some scouts and experts even compared him to Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson, the San Diego Chargers legend who set an NFL record with 28 rushing touchdowns in 2006. But in Jeanty, it may have a major building block moving forward that will give their jealous but frustrated fans a tangible reason for optimism. Between Jeanty, tight end Brock Bowers, last year's runner-up for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award, and star pass rusher Maxx Crosby, the Raiders may finally have a path out of the wilderness they have been stuck in for so long.
