Taylor Swift's new era revealed: Pop megastar shocks fans by announcing new album The Life Of A Showgirl
The 35-year-old pop superstar's website initially featured a countdown over a glittering orange background and the cryptic text below: 'Expires August 12 at 12:12AM ET' the release date is yet to be confirmed.
The excitement-inducing countdown appeared after Swift left fans convinced that was preparing to release new music after a recent tease from the Empire State Building.
Taylor's website crashed immediately after the timer ran out, stymying many of her devoted fans, but the X account for her boyfriend Travis Kelce 's podcast shared a clip of her announcing the new LP.
'So I wanted to show you something,' Taylor said in a clip as she sat next to Travis. Then she pulled out a white case with 'TS' written on the side in orange block letters.
'This is my brand-new album, The Life Of A Showgirl,' Taylor said proudly as she held up a vinyl version of the album, which was censored in the video.
Travis' brother Jason Kelce let out a piercing scream of joy as soon as the album title escaped her lips.
'TS 12!' Travis cheered excitedly, referencing The Life Of A Showgirl's status as her twelfth studio album, as the announcement clip came to an abrupt end.
Fans may be forced to wait until the New Heights episode drops on Wednesday to see an uncensored version of the album artwork.
Once Swift's website was back online, it had transformed into a 'pre pre-order' store for the upcoming album.
She was offering a $30 vinyl version of the album, a $13 CD that came with a double-sided poster decorated on either side with photos of the hitmaker and a $20 cassette version designed to appeal to fans with a retro streak.
Each display featured a heavily blurred version of what appeared to be the album cover, and the description promised that the various formats would have unique cover designs.
The vinyl version appeared to be tailored to collectors, as it was described as being printed on 'Portofino Orange Glitter Vinyl,' which was described as translucent orange vinyl decorated with gold glitter.
After the announcement, fans began speculating about possible guest appearances on The Life Of A Showgirl, even though Swift has given any indication of who might join her on the album.
However, she may have given a hint about the album's producer with a Spotify playlist released on Monday in advance of the announcement.
Eagle-eyed fans noted that every song an the playlist had been produced by Max Martin.
The pop music maven used to be a major collaborator with Swift, but the two haven't worked together since recording music for 2017's Reputation, and Martin was notably absent from the sessions to rerecord songs he had previously worked on.
After the announcement, fans shared their excitement on social media.
'OMG OMG TAYLOR SWIFT'S NEW ALBUM — THE LIFE OF A SHOWGIRL — TS 12!! 🥹❤️ I'm so happy!!!' one user gushed on X.
Another fan posted a clip of Oprah Winfrey being overcome with emotion and juxtaposed it against Taylor's new preorders.
One disappointed Swiftie admitted that they 'missed' the album announcement because they were 'doing mcat practice questions,' adding, 'they really don't tell you about the sacrifices of a premed until you're in it 😔.'
Several fans also noted how different the album release was compared to previous announcements due to Taylor's decision to share the news on her boyfriend's podcast.

Several other users poked fun at how Swift's website couldn't handle the throng of traffic it attracted. One poster shared a gif of Kieran Culkin from Succession in which he looked morosely at a computer screen showing him nothing but bad news
'Announcing your album on your boyfriends and his brothers podcast...what's happened to my taylor swift,' wrote one concerned fan.

One poster shared a gif of Kieran Culkin from Succession in which he looked morosely at a computer screen showing him nothing but bad news, captioning it, 'Taylor Swift's website administrator.'
On Monday, the official X account for the iconic New York City skyscraper shared an image of the building, seemingly taken in February, with its top part lit up with orange lights, and the caption, 'See you next era.'
Many believed the post signaled Swift's next musical chapter following her extremely successful Eras Tour, and the consistent use of orange suggested a connection with her upcoming website reveal.
The official account for the Eras Tour even commented on the post, writing, 'Yessss' with an orange heart emoji.
Swift's last musical release was her 11th album, The Tortured Poets Department, which came out in April 2024.
Following the post, excited Swifties took to the comments, with one writing, 'Do you know something we don't, Empire State Building?!'

'Oh that lead single is coming,' someone else chimed in.
'TS12 listening party at the Empire State Building when?' another questioned.
'What do you know? OMG!' added a shocked fan.
'Guys IT'S HAPPENING,' gushed another overwhelmed user.
'I love New York supporting our beloved @taylorswift13!!!!'
'I LOVE that the Empire State Building is a swiftie.'
The Empire State Building's lights have been changed to different colors to recognize special occasions, holidays, and organizations in the past.
The building was illuminated in orange in February to honor Shiri, Ariel and Kfir Bibas, the Israeli mother and sons who were taken hostage and killed during the attacks on October 7.
On Monday morning, the pop star's in-house marketing and public relations team, Taylor Nation, posted a series of photos of the singer rocking an array of orange Eras Tour looks
Many Swifties believe that orange will be the new color scheme of the 14-time Grammy Award winner's 12th studio album 'era'
Adding fuel to the speculations about Swift's potential 12th studio album was a recent announcement from her boyfriend Travis Kelce, with many fans correctly predicting that Taylor would appear on his podcast for the first time to announce her new music.
Swifties were left convinced that the songstress was finally making a highly anticipated appearance on Travis and his brother Jason's New Heights podcast after the hit show dropped a cryptic clue on Monday morning.
New Heights' official X account shared a post revealing that the podcast would return from its temporary summer break for a one-off episode with a 'VERY special guest' on Wednesday at 7pm ET.
The image they selected happened to feature a black silhouette and a bedazzled orange background, seemingly teasing Swift may be joining them.
Others pointed to a clue in Jason's choice of clothing, as the retired Philadelphia Eagles legend was wearing a T-shirt from Swift's merchandise line.
And, despite the podcast's attempts to protect the guest's anonymity, not only were the pop sensation's fans convinced she would be returning to the public eye on the show but that she has a very specific reason for stepping back into the spotlight.
Some theories suggested she might be announcing a Super Bowl Halftime performance, an NFL theme song, a re-recorded album, or even an Eras Tour documentary, though fans seemed particularly happy to learn that Swift would be releasing a new album.
New Heights' announcement was followed by a teaching post from Taylor Nation — the singer's in-house marketing and public relations team — which read: 'Thinking about when she said "See you next era…"'
The account added fuel to the fire by following it up with four images of the 'Anti-Hero' hitmaker in orange outfits — the same color as the background of New Heights' promo graphic.
Two more batches of four similar photos followed, taking the total to 12, which would be the number of the singer's next album.
'TS12 IS ACTUALLY COMING THIS IS NOT A DRILL WHATS THE PROCEDURE!!,' one fan wrote.
'She's announcing ts12 on the pod isn't she…….,' another social media user questioned.
'travis looking to his left with his Taylor Smile, jason wearing merch, i can see the bangs from a mile away……but most importantly, the background… …..ts12 confirmed to be orange alert the troops,' a third theorized.
'We're gonna get the ts12 announcement on the 13th day of August on an episode of New Heights WHAT IS LIFE,' gushed another fan.
Many Swifties believed that orange would be the new color scheme of the 14-time Grammy Award winner's 12th studio album 'era,' and her website's redesign seems to support that belief.

Charlie Brown and Snoopy offer an animated 'Peanuts' musical about summer camp
Charlie Brown and Snoopy go to sleepaway camp in a new, bittersweet Apple TV+ special fueled by a pair of Emmy Award-nominated songwriters that's being billed as the first 'Peanuts' musical in 35 years. 'My motivation has always been to preserve and enhance my dad's legacy,' says co-writer Craig Schulz, a son of the iconic comic strip 'Peanuts' creator Charles. S. Schulz. 'So it's really an honor to get to play with these kids.' 'Snoopy Presents: A Summer Musical,' which premieres Friday, features five songs — two by Jeff Morrow, Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner — and three by Ben Folds. 'If someone asked me to write for a stupid kids thing, I would find it difficult because I don't like talking down to anyone, much less kids,' says Folds. ''Peanuts' isn't like that. We're working in very rich, fertile soil.' What's the special about? The special opens with the kids getting ready to catch the bus to Cloverhill Ranch camp, but Sally isn't so sure it's going to be great. "Honestly, big brother, I could stay home," she says. Sally is initially intimidated by the camp's inside jokes and rituals, turned off by the insects, the endless climbing, no TV, cold lake water and lumpy beds. 'You wake at dawn/Like you would in jail,' she sings in the song 'A Place Like This.' 'The food's not what you'd call upscale/This whole endeavor, an epic fail/And that's being diplomatic.' Trust 'Peanuts' to explore reluctance to leave home and fear of change. Craig Schulz, who co-wrote the script with his son, Bryan, and Cornelius Uliano, channeled some of his own childhood. 'Cloverhill Ranch actually is a take-off of the one in Santa Rosa called Cloverleaf that I went to as a child and hated. I bailed out after a week and went home,' he says. 'So many connections in the film kind of date back to my childhood that we weaved into the film.' While Sally warms to camp, Snoopy discovers what he thinks is a treasure map that will transform him into a wealthy pooch, one who will lay on top of a gold dog house. And Charlie Brown learns that this summer will be the last for his beloved but struggling camp — unless he does something. 'I guess your generation would rather sit in front of the television than sit under the stars,' he tells Sally. 'We have to protect these kinds of places because once they're gone, they're gone forever.' A concert to save the camp Charlie Brown comes up with the idea to invite generations of camp-goers back for a fundraising concert, but the skies darken on the big day, threatening to cancel the event and sending him into a 'Good grief' spiral. 'Charlie Brown is different in this special,' says director Erik Wiese. 'He's really happy. He loves this place. And so that's why when we get to that scene it's so effective because he returned back to the zero we sort of know him traditionally.' Folds supplies the lovely, last three songs — 'When We Were Light,' 'Look Up, Charlie Brown' and 'Leave It Better' — and credits his songwriting collaborators for setting the stage. 'I entered when those first two songs existed, and I get to just sort of step in at the point where things get really complex and melancholic,' he says. Folds has had a flirtation with musical theater before, having written the 'Peanuts' Earth Day song 'It's the Small Things, Charlie Brown' in 2022 and a few songs for the movie 'Over the Hedge' in 2006. 'People can easily confuse a song that sounds like musical theater with a song that should be musical theater,' he says. 'Really what the value of the song is that it obviates the need for a good five to 10 pages of script.' This October marks the 75th anniversary of 'Peanuts,' and the musical arrives with a boatload of branding, from tote bags by Coach to shoes by Crocs and Starbucks mugs. Craig Schulz is already at work on a second animated musical with his son, having long ago fallen in love with the family business. "I used to always wonder how in the world my dad could go to the office every day for 50 years and write a comic strip every day," he says, comparing it to the 'I Love Lucy' episode with Lucy trying to keep up with a chocolate conveyor belt. 'Then I came to realize that he had his family of five kids, but I really think he enjoyed going to the studio and working with the 'Peanuts' characters even more so than his real family. He got to go in there and embrace them, draw them, make him happy, sad, whatever. It was a world that I don't think he could ever leave.'

Kelly Clarkson was NOT mentioned in Brandon Blackstock's obituary which revealed his 'loving partner' was her assistant
Kelly Clarkson was not mentioned in her late ex-husband Brandon Blackstock's obituary which was released on Tuesday — just days after he passed away on August 7. The 43-year-old singer was previously married to the former talent manager from 2013 until their divorce was finalized in 2022. The pair also welcomed two children: Remington, 11, and River, nine. He was also father to Savannah, 23, and Seth, 18, whom he welcomed with first wife Melissa Ashworth — who recently broke her silence on his shock death. Brandon passed away at the age of 48 following a 'brave and courageous' three-year battle of melanoma cancer, per the obit shared by Butte Funeral Home. Other relatives were listed in the obit such as his four children, grandchildren, grandparents and stepparents — which includes former stepmom Reba McEntire. The obit notably included the bombshell revelation that he had been in a relationship with Kelly's past assistant leading up to his death. Kelly and Brandon had first met in 2006 but didn't begin dating until six years later in 2012. The following year, the pair tied the knot during a ceremony that was held at Blackberry Farms in Tennessee. But in June 2020, the talk show host filed for divorce and cited the reason for the split as 'irreconcilable differences.' The divorce was finalized two years later. 'I think the thing about divorce — especially having it publicized, and people thinking they know the whole thing — the hardest part of that is, like, it wasn't an overnight decision,' Kelly said on Angie Martinez's IRL podcast in 2023. 'I wanted to make it beautiful. I wanted to make it awesome. I wanted to make it everything it possibly could be, and sometimes that just doesn't happen.' She also sued her ex-husband last year after accusing him of making unauthorized business deals on her behalf. They settled their lawsuits over commissions in May 2024, ending a contentious legal battle that began after their divorce was finalized two years earlier. Last week, one day before Brandon's passing was announced, Kelly took to Instagram to announce the postponement of the remainder of her Las Vegas residency concerts for August. She wrote to her fans: 'While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them. 'I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.' The following day, a rep for the family said in a statement: 'It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. 'Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family.' The statement concluded with, 'We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time.' Before his marriage to Kelly, Brandon had tied the knot with his first wife Melissa Ashworth in 1999 until their divorce in 2012. The obit released on Tuesday also revealed that the former talent manager had a 'loving partner' before his death. He had been in a relationship with Brittney Marie Jones and was quietly building a new life with her in Montana, a fact unknown to many fans. 'After more than 20 years in the music business, Brandon found his way back to the mountains and the cowboy way of life he always wanted to live,' the obituary read. 'He found a homestead and a love in Butte, Montana.' It went on: 'Brandon, along with his beautiful and loving partner in life and business, Brittney Marie Jones, started building a life, building companies, and working tirelessly to create Headwaters Livestock Auction and what will live on as his legacy, The Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman, Montana.' In a bombshell revelation, a December 2024 report on Brandon and Brittney's rodeo business listed Brittney as Kelly's 'former assistant.' has not received a response to its request for comment from reps for Kelly. A prior LinkedIn profile for Brittney highlighted in the report reveals she served as an executive assistant to Brandon as well as an assistant to Kelly while he managed the singer. Brittney's LinkedIn also identifies her as the Executive Assistant of V Bar V Cattle Co. LLC — formerly Vintage Valley Ranch — one of Brandon's companies, further tying her to his post-divorce life in Montana. She was previously married to Greg Goose LaPoint, according to details found on her Facebook page. The pair shared wedding photos from their September 2021 ceremony, offering a glimpse into their life together. However, the exact timeline and circumstances of their separation remain unclear. The bombshell dropped just hours after Melissa, Brandon's first wife, spoke out publicly about his passing. 'On May 29, 1999 I married the man who would become the father of my children,' Ashworth wrote on Instagram over the weekend. 'After more than 20 years in the music business, Brandon found his way back to the mountains and the cowboy way of life he always wanted to live,' the obituary read Her post included a collection of photos featuring Brandon, their children — son Seth and Savannah — as well as Savannah's husband, Quentin Lee. 'Brandon was full of charm, wit, and just an absolute gentleman who happened to wear cowboy boots, wrangler jeans, and a cowboy hat. He was by far, hands down, the best Daddy and Pa. He loved hard and he fought hard,' she wrote. 'The best thing Brandon has left for his children is they know where he is. I've heard it said, 'Nothing is lost when you know where it is' and Brandon is with Jesus his Savior,' she continued. 'Savannah, Seth, and our grandchildren are the best parts of who Brandon and I are. Thank you all for your prayers and condolences.' Melissa's message came just hours after her son Seth also posted his own heartfelt tribute to his father. He shared a series of photos with Brandon, ranging from his early childhood to more recent years. Other tributes have since flooded in to remember Brandon as they mourn his loss. Reba McEntire's son Shelby Blackstock shared a heartbreaking post in honor of his half-brother Brandon. Brandon was the son of Narvel Blackstock and Elisa Gayle Ritter. Narvel was later married to Reba from 1989 through 2015 — and they welcomed son Shelby together. He also opened up about the 'tremendous loss our family has endured' and called Brandon an 'irreplaceable part of our family' The race car driver penned an emotional tribute to Brandon late last week alongside an assortment of throwback photos. He also opened up about the 'tremendous loss our family has endured' and called Brandon an 'irreplaceable part of our family.' Reba broke her silence on his passing by penning a message in the comment section of Shelby's post. 'Very well said Shelby. Yes we will miss him so much,' she wrote along with red and broken heart emojis.
